Any opinions about 2012?
 

I am reading and hearing so much things on the year 2012. I just wanted to know if the world will really come to an end or what will happen? What are some opinions on this? i hope this isn't an inappropriate topic..

I, for one, am a christian and don't think anything will happen. I think only God knows when the end will be. I just believe that the Mayans were really really smart and good at math and astrology. Not at telling the future. I don't believe in palm readers and what not. I hope I did not offend anyone. I was not trying to. Just my 2 cents :)

I know I have read a lot about it too.....even Nostradamous thought 2012 was going to be a big year!!! With the way the world is today, my feeling is to be the best person you can be every day and every year.....then if the end comes....no worries!!!

I think the same thing will happen that happened when we hit the year 2000.
Of course Fox News is going to have a segment on the Apocalypse......

If the world ends in 2012 it will be good for me as I am invincible and that would make me the ruler of the world.
Mind you it might get a bit boring bossing myself about.

This post is a hard one without getting religious or political so I will just say I worry more about what my "leaders" are doing to our country and our lives right now that will affect us greatly beyond 2012.

No one knows... except the almighty, when this world may "come to an end".

I think nothing will happen. My neighbor told my 9 yr old daughter that the world is going to end then and I had to explain it to her. When the world is going to end its going to end and theres no reason to fret over when.

It could happen, or it could not happen, no one will know. But I do know is that Pirates of the Carribean 4 will be out in 2011 :D They are gonna have some good movies out before the world comes to an end :)

i saw a preview for the movie 2012 when i saw harry potter. The movie looks awesome. That's all i know. I really don't think the world is going to end.

Well that would suck cause I am just graduating from high school in 2011. :p

No, in all seriousness, I've heard/read a lot about this. A woman I know (who is a complete GENIUS), explained it to me in the way that she thinks. I'll try to explain what she said, but I'm not nearly as smart as her, but I'll do my best. :)

This whole thing came about because of the Mayan calendar, which supposedly ends on December 23 (?), 2012. Apparently, the Mayans have different cycles to their calendar - I believe every 1,000 years. This friend of mine believes that December 23 is just the end of one of the cycles, and that it will continue on as normal.

The way I see it, if the world is gonna end it's gonna end, and there's nothing we can do about it. Personally, I don't believe it's going to happen, but it's not worth fretting over even if it is.

lol i agree with Mizmarley...religion def. plays a factor on whether ppl believe or not. Personally i believe in God and believe only he knows when the end is...and thats it. No one else knows...not even the angels...and i dont like to guess or worry about it lol

I'm a Christian and without getting too religious, I'm just going to say that the bible says that God is the only one that knows when the world is going to end. This is what I believe.

And I agree with Megan's friend. I just think this is when the cycle of their calendar ended and they never went on to make a new one.

Also, the mayans couldn't even predict the end of their own civilization so how can they predict the end of the entire world? I think December 23, 2012 is going to be like another Y2K.

Yea and people are lazy now a days so why cant they have been lazy back then too? Lol, this reminds me of the movie "Knowing", when that little girl knows every disaster in the world.

But really, I dont belive it, maybe if it does happen we can all share a little of your money :p Just kidding:D

Hey Marissa, my friend is one of the writer's brothers. He has told me some inside info a while back. Hee hee.:D Well you may have heard already by now, but I knew over a year ago.

I remember hearing a rumor about the world ending on such and such a date when I was a child in the 80's. It freaked me out for a very long time, the date came and went and here I am 30 years later.

I think it will turn out to be nothing like it did back then, the Y2K.....

But I do predict and think in 2012 the yorkies will rule the world. :p

So, should we even bother going Christmas shopping then? I mean all that buying, and wrapping, for what? :p

Oh my gosh! I know one too:) Well its a friend, of a friends, and yea. But she told me something, but I forget what it was. I'm like obsessed with that movie, went to the mid night showings of 2nd and 3rd one but not the 1st (did they even have one:confused:), I didn't know it would be that awesome:cool:

The problem I have with most of these people predicting the end is, they're all trying to sell a book or something else. If they are right and nobodies gonna be here by 2012 why are they trying to make so much money. Sorry but thats the way I see it.

I believe the Bible when it says that no man will know. Therefore, I feel safe in saying it will NOT be December 23, 2012.

I have no idea when it will end nor really care. I certainly don't plan to worry or stress over it. I am a Christian and I believe God is in control plus I have made reservations already for what is to follow.

Life itself is too uncertain to worry about a date in the future. There will probably be some of us reading and posting on the board right now who will die before that date. Therefore our participation in the world will have already come to an end. I am much more concerned about drunk drivers and the like who may end innocent people's lives than I am a prediction about the end of the world. However, I will agree that many Biblical signs and prophecies of the end of time are being fulfilled currently. That causes me more pause than the Mayan's calendar.

I realize that some of you may not share the religious view I just expressed but I am not ashamed nor apologetic for my beliefs. I also would not force mine upon you without warning.

Regardless of your religious beliefs, I think life should be lived as if each day is your last. If we do that we will leave no words unsaid that should have been spoken to those we love, etc.

Yup I went to the midnight showings of 2 and 3. They didn't have one for part 1. I am totally a pirates fanatic. I even have the same tattoo as Johnny does :p wanna see?
