Brazilian Hair Straightener(keratin) Has anyone gotten it? I got the Japanese Hair straightener more than a year ago and it left my hair really really straight! And i like it, i just don't like that it involves such harsh chemicals on your hair, so i couldn't get highlights done or it would damage my hair. Also, once your hair grows it starts to look weird..anyway i heard the brazilian one does not have chemicals, it is more like a treament and is better than the japanese one for your hair. The only thing is it straightens your hair about 50%, where the japanese is more like 99%...but i dont mind cause i still have the japanese in my hair...and i really want to do this brazilian one....but i want to know if anyone here had it done, did you like it? how long did it last, etc? |

with the dark blue dress? her hair looks very nice! No its not extentions tho...its a temporary hair straightener that should last about 6 mos maybe...so if you have curly hair and you get it it will be straight, even after you wash it. |

I just had the Keratin done about 3 weeks ago. and I love it. I have straight hair naturally but I color my hair and I have highlights. So needless to say that if I don't blowdry my hair it frizzes but really bad. My hair dresser suggested keratin because it would treat my damaged hair. He charged $400.00 at the salon. I found a hairdresser that does it at her house for $140.00 and I have to tell you I am in heaven. Yesterday I went to the beach and I didn't have to worry that the frizzes would come to haunt me. Now if I want some volume I do have to use the blow dryer with a round brush but only for about 5 minutes. Do some research there are some Keratin products that have Formaldalhyde (?sp) and this has been known to cause cancer if you inhale too much of it. So just ask before you get it done. Good Luck |

have you tried the CHI yet? I have really obnoxiously wavy hair and I use it and it works wonders. I use the anti-frizz CHI serum too with the hair straightener. I love love love it! It gets really hot within 15 seconds and all it takes it one swipe. I love that I don't have to keep going over and over the same pieces. It's really really humid here too and my hair holds up really really well. It costs about $125-180 depending on which kind you get. |
That is what my daughter Joanna suggested, a CHI, not so harmful to your hair. |
Hair!!! One of my favorite subjects...I'll tell you.. I;ve had "EVERYTHING" done to my hair.My hair used to be wavy, but I was able to wash it and with either mousse or gel, let it dry by itself, then I started getting my gray hairs:(, the texture of my hair changed completely, I have to blow dry my hair absolutely every single time I wash my hair, followed by the flat iron. I've had, not the Japanese, but the Chi, it is a permanent hair straighten, but I was able to wash and go, the second time I had it done after 12 months, I guess the lady since the new growth so much, overlapped a bit, and then I had to blow dry, by never ever compared with what I had to go through before, ...then came the Keratin treatment, I also had it done, since they said it would be safe on straighten hair, I did it, but I guess I had gotten used to the Chi ( no body, pin straight) that did not see much difference, did not last, and I found it to be to expensive for what it was.I have read that the Keratin treatment has some percentage of formaldehyde ( strong odor), which is highly toxic, but its what relaxes your hair, while the keratin gives it the shine, now, the one I had done did not smell, so it may had not been the real thing.I found it to be very expensive, you need a sodium lauryl sulfate, so it wont srtipe the product from your hair, don't wash it for the next 4 or 7 days, don't put it behind your ears, or a pony tail, so it wont mark your hair..I'm considering having it done again, but I'm debating.. |
Its not hard to do the actual treatment. They did tell me not to use conditioner before the treatment. The treatment is done with your hair completely dry and she just applies the treatment to the hair, then you sit out for about an hour and then she blowdries the hair, next she uses a flatiron and irons your hair out. You have to wait 4 days before you wash it (this was the nasty part) you cant pick it up in a ponytail or put anything in your hair. Oh and no sweating, so I didn't go to the gym for 4 days LOL. Then you get to wash it with a sulfate free shampoo and conditioner. My hair is super soft and it doesn't feel likes its dried/fried at the ends. She did suggest that I get it cut at the ends. My hair is super frizzy because of all the highlights. Now it feeels and looks very healthy. |

Nope just let it dry. I did do a little on the bangs with a regular brush not even the round brush. But she says when the new growth comes in it will frizz if I continue with highlights. So I guess I will be a Keratin Junkie every 4 months LOL;) |
Wow it looks really good! |
