A very close friend of mine also lives in the Clearlake area and she is freaking out. She is just starting to get back on her feet financially after being layed off/downsized and hit with some unexpected $ problems and can't really afford to evacuate to a hotel somewhere. I am really worried for her. |
They're predicting it to hit Matagorda Bay which is like 35 minutes from here. Trying right now to find a hotel in Austin but it looks like they're all booked up. :( I feel like crying!!!!! |
Oh no! I am so sorry. I wanna cry with you! Keep trying hotels or maybe bed/breakfasts places, anything. Maybe hotels a little farther out? Thinking about you and Schatzie sends hugs to comfort you! :aimeeyork |
please dont cry. everything is going to be ok just calm down thats the most important thing you must be calmed so then you can think of what your going to do. please try to get a hotel or a shelter near you so you and your family and of course your furbabies can be safe. my prayers are with you and your family |
Now, I\'m pi$. Finally get through to travelocity and they booked me a room...12 HOUR AWAY!!!!!   I could have driven to my home town in 8 hours...COME ON!!! |
DH has a staff meeting at 8:00 AM, then we\'re off. We\'ll be going to friends in Stephenville, TX to wait it out. We live close enough to the coast that the prediciton of a 15-20 foot storm surge is probably going to hit us. I moved what I could to the upstairs, but I doubt it will help much. Gads, trying to get a 35 year marriage into the back of an SUV is quite a trick. All the neighbors are on edge...yea, might as well let it go! |
My parents live in Houston and they are leaving tomorrow to come up to stay with us in Lubbock until it blows over. I haven\'t heard the evening\'s news yet but I\'m sure there are still hotels available here though Lubbock is a good 9 hour\'s drive. My prayers and thoughts are with you all. |
txshopper73 I\'m praying for you and your family. Do you have a place to crash already? I heard all of the motels and hotels as close to Dallas have been booked. Let us know. |
I think you are right to get out of there with the kids and dogs! I wouldn\'t stay by myself. Your hubby can let you know when things are okay to come back. Just be safe and start EARLY. Nothing worse than being in a logjam on the highway with kids and dogs - been there, done that. Best of luck. |
I hope everyone stays safe!! they are talking about it coming up into oklahoma and flooding up here too... Also.. Tornados!! looks like i\'ll be staying with my parents! |

that\'s my position too right now till our next job starts... and it\'s in GALVESTON of all places - Having no $$ makes it impossible for us to stay in a hotel ...so I know how your friend feels - |
