OMG Flies!!!!! I just went in the kitchen and there was a ton of flies in there. I sprayed some fly killer and walked out the room... well... they decided they would come in here instead! The problem is the effects of the fly spray has kicked in, so they are spazzing out and dying! So I have flies, (I'm talking about 10-15 of them), buzzing round, crashing into walls, the mirror and worse of all... dropping on me! I'll be sat here and suddenly one will just drop on arm, laptop, HAIR! Needless to say I'm freaking out, trying to dodge them and twitching, throwing my arms about and keep wiping imaginary flies off me! My "friend" thinks this is amusing... I hope she gets flies soon and has this issue! :p So, I guess tomorrow I'm off to find something more effective at killing them! |
Take a video. |

No, of the flies hitting the wall. That sounds hysterical. but if you want to get a bit of you freaking out in there, that would be ok too. |
Sorry, but that would be funny :) Flies are bad here too.:thumbdown |
Vicky, I understand compltely -- I HATE FLIES -- and we live on a farm !!! Try a fly flip aka fly swatter. I hate it when you squish one, and it seems like lately you kill one and 6 relatives come to the funeral :thumbdown |
:eyetearss:eyetearss:eyetearss:eyetearss FLY SWATTER!!!!! |
Oh gosh... well the way you described the situation , it IS slightly amusing! Flies are sooo gross.... its not flies that bother me so much its that flies lead to magots, and I cannot think of a grosser thing in the world than a maggot. Id rather hold a spider than a maggot! Thats saying A LOT about how much I hate maggots. Hope you get the problem cleared up!! |
I feel your pain Vicky - I'm plagued with them too!:( Why do they all congregate underneath the ceiling lights and just fly round and round????? And I never understand how they have no trouble coming in but don't seem to be able to find their way back out again....even though every window in the house and the patio doors are open. I've been freaking out too....I keep thinking they're on me! My husband thought it was hilarious last night when I leapt out of bed screaming because I heard one buzz right by my ear.....ugh, makes me all shuddery just thinking about it. It seems this lovely warm weather has some drawbacks....:( xxx |
We have the fly problem on our front porch but I have GNATS in my kitchen and laundry room! They are driving me crazy!!!!!!!! I swear they reproduce faster than rabbits! |
All this talk about maggots and flies is really making my skin crawl. :p I hope I never have that problem... ever. What's worse is when I wiki'd information about maggots just now. Ugh. Okay, hope I never have to set eyes on them! I hate slimy, wormy, larvae(like) crawlies. As a matter of fact, I have a phobia of all little critters. Gypsy&Me, you need to make better "friends" who won't be amused at your expense! :coffee2: Me... for instance... :angel2dl::angel2dl: :rofl28ib: :cat0: |

Just wondering....don't you call them fly swatters in your neck of the woods? What do you call them..fly squishers, fly part scatterer, fly be gone? LOL:rolleyes: |
Speaking of maggots..... Here are three links to information that may change your mind: Healing Wounds With Maggots Maggots ...................................... (open with caution - includes photographs) Maggot Debridement Therapy - for wounds Vicky, you might try an umbrella for the falling flies problem. :lol tears |
Vicky, I understand that you are totaly grossed out, but the way you describe the situation is hilarious. What would you do in the jungles in say, South America, if FLIES freak you out??? LOL :D |

I bought an executioner It is like a tennis racket but the strings are strips of wire like an insecticutor I have great fun getting revenge when they get on my nerves Alfie runs round also snapping at them |
We had one of those! We loved it! But it stopped working and I can't find another one! My kids and hubby got tired of using it for just flies and was attacking other larger bugs and just wore the thing out. |

Vicky, I would have loved to have seen you in my living room last night when there was a BAT in here. LOL. My ever vigilant dogs alerted me to the dang thing and kept trying to catch it while I kept trying to keep them away from it... so I did what comes naturally.... I yelled for the h to come and get the varmit. ROFLOL I'm just trying to imagine you in that situation.... |
Here it is, I have had mine nearly four years now and only changed batteries once, it is taken a few knocks and still works great. The Executioner They will ship internationally if you cannot find one near to home My favourite toy There is a warning for people who have a pacemaker not to use them |

I am having an invasion of ants -- those tiny little ones we call sugar ants. They can come right through a closed window or door. I had a whole line of them coming through the kitchen window and down to my sink. Then we found the same thing in my son's bathroom. I think this new found rain is driving them out of their holes so they are looking for new digs. Just so the fire ants don't come in -- those things sting! I bought some heavy duty house spray but haven't got around to spraying yet. I may have to order one of those Executioners -- looks interesting )not for the ants, but flying bugs. |
FLDebra those executioners will bash the ants up also, especially the fire ants, but really good on flying bugs, I wish I had one with me last time I was in Florida, I hated those horrible fireants. Am I correct in thinking that bats eat mosquitos ? |
Raid Double Control Ant Bait <-- This works amazingly well if you can resist looking at the trail of ants for a bit. Clean and easy. Then there's the vacuuming that comes after with the trail of dead ants. But I don't think it works for fire ants. :( |
