I can NOT believe what I just read in online news. An Oklahoma couple was just charged with shooting a 7 WEEK old puppy TEN TIMES with a 22 cal pistol and then skinning him to make a BELT!!! :( How on earth does this sort of thing happen??? They face UP TO 5 yrs in prison if convicted.

no wonder I love dogs more than most people....that is horrible and they should rot in jail for the rest of their lives for that!!!!:mad:

I can't get it out of my mind. It happened in a town about 30 miles south of me and was on the news last night. I am sick and tired of hearing of animal abuse stories and how the criminal gets their hands slapped for punishment.


The first link is for the D.A. of Muskogee County (Larry Moore).........PLEASE.....Everyone that reads this post, contact the D.A. by the email contact link provided at the top of his page. Let's stand up for this poor innocent dog and ask this D.A. to prosecute to the full extent of the law! I'm afraid if enough people don't rise up and say something, this couple will get off with probation....it's happened with other animal cruelty cases :(

It would be a great thing to have this D.A.'s office inundated with emails!

read.. oh god oh god oh god!!!! what a dam shame!!!!!
i wish i were the judge.. i would rule them and their whole family to be
shot in their knee caps. but first beat the living crap outta of them.

This is beyond words that someone could possibly do this to a 7 weeks old puppy! The second link actually shows the "pelt" of the skinned puppy they planned to use to make their belt. I think I am going to be sick. :sickie:

I heard this story on the news this morning. I couldn't believe such evil lives in a town just miles away from me! I tried the link to the DA but didn't see any contact info. Did I just miss it, or is everyone going to write letters to the DA? I sure want them to know my opinion about the punishment of these people!

my friend works at a vet here in illinois and she went into work to find a skinned yellow lab that was found in a storage unit.

they had to do an altopsy(sp?) to see if the dog died naturaly or killed to be skinned.

People are so sick.

At the risk of alienating everyone on this board I want to ask why there is a distinction between killing a dog for a belt and killing a cow for belt. Do you think that a judge and/or jury might look at it that way?

Please don't beat me up. I am just as horrified as the rest of you and hope these sub-humans get the punishment they deserve. And I couldn't agree more than I do with Jencar when she says "I am sick and tired of hearing of animal abuse stories and how the criminal gets their hands slapped for punishment." Something has to change.

The difference for me is that dogs are part of our families, as near to a child as can be. Although, I do understand if you're a vegetarian, how there may not be much of a difference.

I certainly hope this judge/jury does make a distinction.

I wan't surprised either. Like you, I think they are receiving a lot of attention about this case, and can't personalize each response. Actually, I appreciate that they responded so promptly and definitively.

I responded and indicated that I from Canada and have heard of these sick people. And please prosecute these creeps to the full law. Matter-of-fact cld someone maybe skin them only do while they are alive.

I made the horrible mistake of clicking on that second link and not only reading the whole story but seeing the hide stretched out. I have a wonderful Jack Russell girl and I can't tell you how sick I felt seeing that picture! I went from shaking to nauseus to tears to burning mad. I am so tired of being disgusted by human beings!

I think there is a huge difference. The cows are being bred as livestock for human consumption, be it as meat or a hide product. A dog is not! A dog is bred as a companion animal. Much different. God did give us dominion over all animals but we have made some our companions and others we use for sustenance. Just as one would not eat a dog (I HOPE!) neither should they shoot and skin one to make a belt to publicize their cruelty. After seeing some of the bizarre court cases, I take nothing for granted, but I am pretty sure a judge and jury will see a big difference as well.

That's okay -- if I had read ahead in the thread, it did say what was in the link and I could have avoided opening it. Some horrors have to be faced I guess, so we know what to fight against.

Oh that poor dog baby! I'm just disgusted by this story. :(

I hope those creeps get it coming to them in jail! And I hope the DA does prosecute to the fullest extent of the law and not settle for some plea deal. I know if I were on that jury I\'d vote guilty!! :mad::mad::mad:
