Have you tried putting cotton balls in the dog's ears when blow drying? Sometimes it helps...but some dogs just don't like it at all, esp around the face. I've noticed this on dogs w/ear infections...maybe the force of the air irritates the inflamed ears.
yeah i've tried cotton balls but they usually shake them out a billion times. I've also wrapped a towel around their head to lessen the noise and this has worked with a few of them. then there are the few that just don't cooperate for anything...

I know what you mean by getting exhausted. I only work p/t for mobile grooming, but at the end of the day, I'm beat! Doing 7-8 pets & driving around town is very physically demanding.

One good thing...I've lost some weight.:D
I'm actually going to Wagmytail grooming school right now. How did you like it there? I really don't like the equipments we use. It does not work well. I have been on the waiting list for the Hacienda grooming school for over a year and still waiting, so I decided to go to Wagmytail.

Wow, mobile grooming? How is that business? Weight loss? Count me in!

I was just reading what you wrote about cats. I have a persian rescue and his hair is awful, and I don't think he is used to being brushed. Also, the poor thing was shaved when I got him. He has a beautiful coat now, but gets a little nippy when I brush his backside. I think I might check out the e-collar thing.

I loved it! I think Yvonne is wonderful...she actually got me the mobile groomer job. You can trade in equipment that doesn't work well...just ask them. I liked the fact that wagmytail was 5 wks long & totally hands on. How much more do you have to go?
I know a groomer that attended Hacienda...she liked it & has her own shop by my house.
I'm just working mobile until I gain some more experience, my goal is to open my own pet spa.:D

**hviola...the e-collar would be very helpful w/grooming cats. They also have muzzles for cats that covers their eyes, but I've noticed that most cats do not like it. They try to take it off & tend to wiggle more.

Glad you enjoyed it. Yes, Yvonne is precious. She is really funny. I just finished my 1st week, so 4 more weeks to go! I, too, know a groomer that went to hacienda and now has her own shop in Arcadia. I plan on opening my own salon soon too. Goodluck with yours!

I went to Nash Academy. It as quite expensive. There is an online part you have to take before you go through the hands on experience. The online part teaches you all about dogs and grooming, going from the very general dog knowledge to advance grooming. i took the online courses while I was still at my old job. took 3 months. then quit to go to school and finish in 2 months.

What do you get at the end of schooling, is it just a certificate saying you completed it or do you actually get something more significant. I'm not sure how to word my question lol so bare with me :)

I got a fabulous piece of paper! LOL

it says diploma on it from nash academy of animal arts blah blah blah. nothing impressive. you could hang it on the wall if you want. its like the hairstylists have on their walls to show that they are certified or went to school.

lol well I went to cosmetology school and I know you have to pass State Board testing and you get a license. I wasn't sure if you got a license at the end of it or what. I asked the school and they said from them i'll get a certificate of completion. So do you need a license just to groom?? And if you don't for just grooming do you need one to open your own shop??

I'm paying around $2,794 for a 5 week course. Every school is different.

Hi,
I'm interested in Hacienda grooming school. Looked them up online but wasn't able to register. How did you get on waiting list?

I was planning on going to Wag my tail grooming but can't afford it.

I called. They have moved to a new location and changed their number. The waiting list is for about a year. They recently sent me their registration form... well too late now lol. Let me see if you can take my place in line. New semester starts on Sept. 1. Are you interested? If so, pm your information such as full name, address, and phone number.
