To change my username... or not to change my username...
 
Haha, so random and stupid but I really hate my username on here. It's so lame. I literally didn't think I'd become "addicted" this place and even stick around when I first signed up so I just typed in the first thing that came to mind for a username. It just bugs me for some reason and I don't know why I chose it, nobody ever calls me Britster lol. I wanted to have a username w/ Jackson's name it maybe or something. But, I guess I'd lost all my post counts and such which sucks. Eh, I know it's not a big deal but whenever I see my posts I'm like "Britster??"

Anyone else "regret" their username?

I have too, at times. I named mine after my boxer before I ever had a yorkie. I understand the reasons but really wish at times we can change it. It can be very confusing or heart wrenching if you named after a yorkie that has passed..... I wish there was still exceptions to this rule.

Oh sign me in on that, I just wanted to look at a picture and couldn't open the link up, until I became a member. I literally didn't think about a name. Every time someone writes one of these threads, I like their name so much better than my own, I thought your name had something to do with yorkies, because they're from Yorkshire England and I thought Britster was a combination of the word "British" and "terrier". I have thought about your name before, and also thought it might have something to do with Annapolis, but I have no idea why, :D - so at least your name makes people think, and it's unusual! We only have one Britster!

LOL, that's too funny. Never thought about in that way.

Actually, I used to have an "uncle" figure when I was a kid that called me Britster but other than that, I've never been called the nickname. I don't even know how it popped into my head at that moment, lol.

I may change it. I'm thinking about it, who knows. I'm gonna become a donating member soon as soon as I get my next pay so I'll have to decide before then lol. I was thinking Action Jackson or something since that's what we always call him.

If you become a donating member you can always have something written below Britster, and you can change it once a month if you want. I agree with Breeze that having the name of your pet might be too hurtful if your pet dies, and also many people get more than one Yorkie, so having a name that is yours instead of your pet's, makes sense. I see now your name is Brittany, and I was trying to figure out why Britster, I'm so observant.

I used to belong to a forum for a band I liked where we were allowed to change our username every month or something if you wanted.

What's the main reason we're not allowed to here?

Also, Nancy, I've always LOVED your avatar. How did you make that?

I have Paint Shop Pro 7, which came along with Animation Shop, but it takes FOREVER to make something like that. You have to take "print screen" of the video I would be making the animation from and take each little shot/picture and then go into Animation shop, and put all the pics in there. Is there an easier way to do such a thing?

But I'm really tired so I'm logging off :)

It would be so hard to get everyone straight. We have over 40,000 members, how confusing would that be if everyone was always changing their name? I think part of Yorkietalks appeal, is that if you read enough threads; you do get to know people. You form an opinion of them and their views on different topics, but that takes a long time, unless they are extremely outspoken. I think if we were always allowed to change our names, people might also be less polite to others. The more anonymous people feel, the more rudely they often behave.

Oh thanks, I made it in Paint shop animation shop. With that program you can open a movie file. If it's a large full screen movie, it's best to only open a few frames at a time, (20 or so) but a new camera I just got takes smaller u-tube size movies, and I can easily open 100 frames at a time. You can only use about 8 frames (at the most) in the avatar, and the hard part is choosing the frames to use. For some movies this might be every 10th frame you want to use, not every frame. Then you have to set the time for each frame. After you choose the frames you want to use, you can crop the animation with that program too, and then resize it to Yorkietalk's specifications. The hard part was adding the TV screen.

I kind of agree about usernames, everyone else has these cute 'dogMommy' handles, and I named myself after a chemical. :rolleyes: I hadn't thought about how hard it would be to be named after a dog you lost, though.

I like your member name! I especially like it the way Nancy said it and that is now the way I will always think of it when I read your posts -- (British Terrier). I wish I had been more creative at the beginning but I figure too late now and at least it is one I won't forget. ;)

I think your username is adorable! You're post count is almost to 2000, I would hate to lose them all and start from scratch like a brand new member.

I think you can have something under your name if you are in the 500 club, even if you aren't a donating member.

Yes! I always wish that I could change my username. I found this site as I was doing my research before I got Ben and just joined so I could read up, not thinking that I would fall in love with YorkieTalk. I wish that I didnt use my real name, but I cant change it now! Now I know for next time if I ever join another forum. I like your username, no one else has it :p

I know admin has a very strict policy about name changes but I wonder in your case if he would make an exception to protect your privacy? Maybe RachelG so it was still obvious who you were?

Really? Where would the option be to do that, under USER CP? I'll look and see if I have an option to do that.

That would be good! If I could atleast just take off most of my last name, like you suggested RachelG that would be a lot better. I will have to see what Admin thinks about this. Thanks :)

I've wanted to change my name at times too, but i'm glad that I didn't pick anything with Bailey in it. That would be super hard if something ever happened to him! If people changed their names AND their pictures, how would we know who they were? It wouldn't feel like a "family" or community!

i think my username is a little bit stupid too(not that any of you guys have stupid usernames:p), because i also think it should have milu's name in it. but it's ok. i just put her name in my signature. :D

I want to become a donating member. Before picking my name, I thought about how I would feel using the name after Josh dies. I thought I would put it in my signature or below my name (donating member) that I fall in love with the Yorkie breed after adopting Josh. Saying Joshie Boy means something special to me, because Josh gets so happy when I say does two words. He will do anything for me when saying those words like tricks, commands, and conquer fears. Joshie Boy brings good memories.

I know I too wish I could change my name...didn't think about what I was doing when i chose it for this forum...but I like the idea of putting shelby rae's mom below it ..where do I do that?
