My recent ice storm pictures & my first signs of spring flowers!! 4 Attachment(s) Thought I would share some pictures with you....I think the ice is pretty...course, I didn't much enjoy two weeks without power or ultilities! AND through all that, and the muddy mess of a yard I have....I see signs of spring!! It is nice to have some color back in my flower beds!!! :yay_jump: **note: I didn't edit the pictures, so they might not be the best....I forgot how long it took to resize and upload! :p Attachment 266872Attachment 266873 Mojo outside...they were not out long because there were so many limbs breaking and ice falling. AND Mojo, being the protector he is, would run toward the cracking and shattering sounds!! Attachment 266874Attachment 266875 LG...well, she hates ice and snow...luckily, she found a place where her Daddy had been parking his truck, to do her business! There was ice on everything...in one of the pictures of LG, you can see that every blade of grass had a thick layer of ice on it! |
4 Attachment(s) here are some pictures of ice w/ frozen fog on it...the frozen fog has a "name" but I can't think of it right now. We woke up one morning and everything was covered with little spikes! I thought it was neat! See how the ice formed around every individual seed pod, in the first picture? Attachment 266876Attachment 266877Attachment 266878 Attachment 266879 The frozen fog found a spider web on the barn! I thought it was kind of pretty...all light and feathery looking! |

LOL can't help but laugh at Mojo's little butt sticking out of his red jumpsuit. Yes, the ice is beautiful but I've had it with that kind of beauty. Did you say your without power for two weeks? OMG:( No way! I'll never complain again. Ever. |
4 Attachment(s) AND now, just a few weeks after the ice storm....I have my first spring flowers!! These are Crocus and they always bloom really early. Attachment 266890Attachment 266891Attachment 266888Attachment 266889 |

OK now that's the beauty I'm waiting for. It's been a long, cold winter in NY. Can't wait to see flower's but I did hear a bird singing this am walking Bud at 6:00. Love to see those little crocus coming up. Pretty color. Glad that storm is behind you. |

YES!! Exactly two weeks! I can't complain because there were people out a lot longer. The first few days, we had to toss a lot of stuff and cram what we could in ice chests. We cooked what we could in the fireplace or on the grill outside...which was FREEZING! I thought it was strange that DH didn't hook our generator up...then he told me that he had sold it when we bought the RV because it had a bigger one on it...while, we sold the RV last summer or the summer before! We moved our mattresses in the living room and slept and pretty much lived by the fireplace. Mojo and LG had double layers of clothing on...boy, what that fun combing them out afterwards! |

Our weather has been crazy....it is warming up...in the 50s today, but they are calling for a severe cold front this weekend (again)! sigh! I will be glad when spring is finally here! |
Wow those pictures are amazing, you are a great photographer, I especially thought the one of the frozen spider web was neat. I think I will use a couple of the icy ones for my desktop picture this summer. :D |
What a stud muffin. He's probably showing "sis" how manly he is by showing that cold stuff he isn't afraid. She's just a princess who says......if you want my royal butt in that cold stuff, then carry me on my throne hehe! The pictures are beautiful. I always loved ice covered plants. Poor spidy must have found a warmer place to hang out. :p |
Wow, no elec for 2 weeks! Those are really cool pictures though. Nice flowers. I saw 1 little crocus bloom the other day. :( |
so tell us, please, what is frozen fog called? Love the spider web. |
Oh, Jenn! I didn't know you were without power for 2 weeks!! YIKES!!! We were without power for over a week during Ike and it was a nightmare. At least you can warm up with the fireplace and wear tons of clothes. There is no escape from summer heat while we were out. Lots of cold baths for the girls as they couldn't cool off. I can't believe your DH sold the generator! I love your babies in their Long johns!! they are just precious!! Those photos are FABULOUS too!!! |
COOL pics...and the babies look adorable! :D |
Those are really nice pictures. Thanks for sharing. I feel for all that had to experience that. We were out of electricity two weeks for Rita and 12 days for Ike. I can handle the heat a lot better than I can the cold. |
4 Attachment(s) I was without power for two weeks also. Here are some of my pics of the ice... |
3 Attachment(s) A few more. These are all down the road I live on. The first pic in the prior pics was a tree in my front yard... It survived....:) I have to say, now that it is over, it was an experience....:D |
1 Attachment(s) Mia laying in her bed. I think she was tired of the this storm also....:( |
What pretty pictures, Jenn! Just beautiful!! Sorry about the two weeks without power. I would much rather be without heat in a cold place than without air conditioning here! I can't stand the heat! I am glad you have a fireplace! |
Hey Jenn, glad you posted these. The ice is so pretty but I know you didn't enjoy the loss of your electric. Pia got very excited when she saw little Mojo's tooshie, haha. :p Him and LG look so cute out there.:D I'm glad things are finally getting back to normal for you and those flowers are so pretty. Big hugs from all of us and keep warm. ;) |
WOW you both have amazing pictures. I know you are so glad that is over now.:) |
I've never heard of frozen fog...beautiful pictures! Where do you live? |
The locals call it HOAR Frost or Fog..HERE is information on it and pictures...you can also google HOAR Frost or frozen fog and there are tons of images...it is really pretty. I have some pictures from about two months ago when we had frozen frost...which I wasn't sure what it was......I will post those in a few... |

I know (about DH) I find it kind of amusing now...but I do not think I was very happy at the time I found out...but it all worked out...we got a big one and he hooked it up to some "shop" lights that he brought in, the tv (for weather and updates) and the hot water heater. We only ran it from about 5-9 each night...and it take about $30 or so in gas each night! |
Wow everyone on this site lives in beautiful areas!! Too bad Arizona doesnt look anything like that right now!! Bella would not know what to do with snow and ice!! LOL |
