I can see why Paula was hoping for more than the 30% since Seacrest got his pay doubled with the $45 mil contract and Simon makes loads more. All the while, she's only been paid $2 mil at least for this last season. I don't think she's worth $20 mil either but at least $5-10m as they're really rolling in the money with the show but I guess FOX likes to keep their profits up.

I agree that American Idol should have offered Paula a contract that gave her more than 2 million dollars to be a judge on their show. I do not know what a fair salary is for Paula, but a 2 million dollars contract does not seem fair compared to how much everybody is making. I just hope they offer a contract to Paula that they both can agree upon that is fair for American Idol and Paula. :)

I heard how much Paula was making/offered compared to Simon and Ryan but how did it stack up to Randy's income from the show? What is Kara making as a judge? I will continue to watch AI it's always good to come here and see others opinions of how the contestants compare to mine. Scary as it is I agree alot of times with Simon, I think I'd just voice it to the contestant another way. But we love to hate Simon sometimes and that's what makes part of the show a success.

Simon is just telling them what their loved ones should have. I would never encourage anyone I loved to make a total fool out of themselves on national TV. He really is blunt but sometimes that is what they need to hear. Not all that coddling BS. 99% of the time I agree with him.

I agree how do some of these people think they can sing! The worst are the ones who say they are music teachers, voice coaches, choir instructors, related to a famous singer, told they sound like a famous singer, etc. Man they are the worst of the worst!!! I have noticed on "America's Got Talent" that if someone comes on and is humble they are usually good to great. If someone comes on and says they are great they usually SUCK!

I love to hear Simon's critiques. Most of the time I agree with him just sometimes I think his critiques could have been said in a nicer way. Simon's comments do make the show fun to watch. You never know what he is going to say. I think many people have a love hate relationship with Simon. :D I think Simon loves to play the role of the brutally honest judge. He does not care if people dislike him that is why I like him. :) I know he is giving his honest opinion even if I disagree. I think his opinions weigh more on the show. I rather get a good critique from Simon than the rest of the judges.

When we sing, our voices sound different compared to how everybody hears our voice. Before trying out for American Idol, I think people should take voice lessons, record themselves singing, and ask for honest opinions about their singing. I hate to see people get embarrassed on national TV too. I always felt sorry for those people. Sometimes, I feel bad for laughing at them, because they honestly cannot hear themselves. I think everybody can sing if they are vocally trained (JMO), and I think some people have better sounding voices and should sing professionally.

As far as AI goes, I agree if they say no don't humiliate yourself. Say thank you and leave with your self respect. I do feel bad for people when the judges laugh while they are singing, turn their backs etc. That is totally disrespectful, unprofessional and hurtful to the singer no matter how bad they are IMO. I know it's hard not to giggle once in awhile but they are out right rude sometimes.

Wow, I guess a lot of people did not enjoy Paula's critiques. :p I think a lot of people will be happy that Ellen will replace Paula (relieved). I like Paula, but she did not excel in giving constructive critiques. She stayed on the superficial level dealing with a performers' performance most of the time. I will miss Paula, but the show must go on. :)

I love Ellen! She is about the only thing bringing me back to watch this season. Don't like Kara and tend to get bored. Happy again. :p

I think they did a good thing. I can't stand Kara & think the song she wrote for the winner this last season was horrid! I love Ellen, I think it will be fun to watch now.

I think Paula was a little on the tipsy side most everytime she was judging on the show, it's possible that they wanted her off badly and wouldn't give her more money because she was on drugs or drunk all the time...she just seemed too loopy for a normal human some nights. I'm one of the people in this world that will not be watching AI next year. I tried out for AI in KCMO and found out what a joke the whole thing really is. You audition for producers at first and it takes like 5 rounds and several more days before you might get to see the real judges. They always take freaks and almost never take the millions of incredible singers that show up there. It's a big TV joke and not a talent search at all, they got lucky with finding Carrie Underwood and David Cook but IMO the rest of the people that came from that show were one hit wonders except fourth place (shoulda been first) winner Daughtry who is yet another mega hit, and have you realized that almost ALL country people on the show become famous on CMT and GAC and get much much bigger than they would have with AI.

I'm not in favor of this show any longer now that i've seen the real side of it, and i'm not sure i'd watch it with Ellen because i don't approve of her personal life and don't want the show to turn into a Pride Parade like it was last year.

This is all JMO from what i've seen firsthand and how i feel about the show!

Hope you all love it next year and that it does go well, i most likely will try one or two episodes but won't tune in nearly as much as i used to

My only critique is that I don't think Ellen has any musical backround. Or does she??? I love Ellen she is very funny and seems like a very nice person. Very real ya know. I understand she will bring a more personal side of the judging. More like real watchers, I guess.. Can't wait.

I heard Ellen say that she does not have any music background, but she would be the judge for the " people" meaning us.. she has always been a fan of the show and watched it all the time.. she just like us sat back and just watched and listened.. We have 2 judges on there with music background, I think it would be great to just have a " people" person out there. Like Ellen said she would be the one to purchase the music, just like us..we are the people who purchase and it is often the judges that sway the votes.. I have watched since season one and I often dont agree with the judges... Like Jennifer Hudson, Clay Aiken, Chris Daughtry!! Maybe if /when they have someone up there with out music background and just someone like US the correct person with be chosen.... JMHO

Thanks Ann, I'm so glad you reminded us of that, the words, in that post "Pride Parade" really shook me to my boots. I think of all the young people reading that, and feeling bad, no one "chooses" their sexuality. We should all feel proud of the way we were made.

i think all people should be treated with respect and not treated badly for the lifestyle that they "choose", but i also personally do not feel that people should flaunt their sexuality all over national TV. I don't talk about my personal life or tell the whole world about my sexual business and i don't think anyone else should be allowed to either just because they chose a different lifestyle than others do. that's all i really meant by my statement. i don't like that people flaunt their differences in your face, if people want to be accepted and respected for their differences, they shouldn't overwhelm those of us that aren't so supportive by shoving it in our faces all the time. its' quite a touchy subject as i'm sure you are all aware, but due to the sexual nature of this lifestyle i really don't think everyone should have to "hear" about it all the time, keep bedroom things where they belong and not shout out what you personally like in the sack to everyone else....that being said, i personally am not rude, or hateful, or mean to those with that lifestyle. i have a very good friend and roomate that is gay and love him to pieces, but i love him the most because other than privately telling me about his preference, he has never tried to flaunt his lifestyle and chooses to be a gay person who doesn't have to tell the whole world to make himself known, he just is and he lives his personal life his way and nobody cares one bit.

I hadn't heard about Ellen as a judge til now .....I like Ellen and I will be watching!
