Mini Laptops...... I am thinking about ordering a Mini 9 from Dell....I have a Dell PC...it is at least 10 yrs old and still runs great..... Anyway...any input on the mini's? |
I'm not sure about the mini ones. The one's that I've seen have barely any hard drive space and doesn't even have a CD drive so you can't load software on it. The only thing you can do is be on the internet and if you need to save anything, you need to have an external hard drive. I would just make sure this mini isn't like the ones that I've seen before you purchase it. |
Aviod the Dell. Quote:
By the time you get the standard features. It's almost $500. you might as well buy a full size. I use Asus Eee 900a or 1000, they got alot of really good features included comes in Linux or XP. and wireless is included. Which is what always got me with Dell. you pay for wireless. Ebay's got some steals right now. ty |
Before I bought my current laptop, I had thought about getting one. They are just too cute! :D I agree with above though, the ones that I have looked at haven't had much of a hard drive. |

What exactly does that mean...I have Verizon....and a router....could you elaborate...I don't want to make a mistake.... |
I have the Dell Net book. Its great for surfing the web and playing games online. Doesn't have alot of memory. I do take it with me to class everyday. You can't write any long papers on it but usually the people i know have a desktop for that kind of stuff. I also take it with me on trips and the BEST part it fits in my purse. |
the screens are to small to me |
They are so cute! I thought about getting one too but decided against it in the end as I think I would have gotten tired of working on a small keyboard and look at a smaller screen. I think it'd be great as a second laptop though. |
I hate how small they are, I'm 20 with great eye sight and I feel like I would need a huge magnifying glass just to get on one. I don't understand what the other person was saying about wireless though, completely confused me. I have a Dell laptop and LOVE it. I've had it for years and have dropped it, Lilly's walked all over it, it's been through hell and it still works absolutely wonderful! I also love Dells because they still set their computers up so you get the CDs to reformat which I think is very handy to have. Not to mention, their customer service is WONDERFUL! |
I know my 9yr old neice got one for Christmas. She wanted something to do at clinic while getting her chemo. Her's was purchased at Sams. Now I know she only uses it to chat and go on sites like maltese talk, play games. I've seen them at Radio Shack and they have a $99.00 one ,but you sign up for a 2 year contract and get a USB Port and pay a monthly fee. My 14 year old wants one,she loves the small size and that it's so light weight. I personally find them too small. |
Okay go to Dell.com Quote:
ty Oh and the 900 {is 8.9 screen and 1000 is 10 inch} |
I think this one looks pretty decent Amazon.com: Acer Aspire One AOA150-1672 8.9-Inch Netbook (1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270 Processor, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, XP Home, 6 Cell Battery) Pink: Computers & PC Hardware What do you think of this one? |
I like it too...But I would get a different color...lol |

My friend has one! It is SOOO cute! :p But it drives me insane when I try to type on it. But I think it's just one of those things you have to get used to. He doesn't have any problems on it. The only thing is that since it's so small it's really easy to have it stolen. I've heard of a couple that have been stolen, including his (though it was returned...pretty crazy story, anyway). But as long as you're careful with it and you can handle typing on a really tiny board, I think it's awesome! :D |

The acer One in any color. Be careful. Acers are known to stop recongising the wireless feature. And for the keyboard to fail. One of the reasons I try to get anyone buying a mini laptop to get a Asus, or Lenvo is they're suport, call them and they will either fix it or replace it. Acer well, they're customer suport is outsourced from the States and usually are hard to reach. Check the bbb ratings on the Acer One. Lots of complaints. |

Thanks everyone...... :) |
I have the Acer Asprire One mini laptop (netbook) in girly PINK and I Love it. I also use Dell computers and my other notebook is a Mac. I chose the Acer because of the Hard Drive size 160 gig. I have had no problems with it losing the wireless connection. Maybe I am lucky. It was very easy to set up, the screen is a little smaller (8.9 inches) but if I cannot read something I just increase the font size. I bought mine for $348.00 but right now they are on sale at Walmart.com for $299.00. What is really fun is when I take SophieKate to the dog park I can take it also in her bag, when she prefers to play with another dog over me I have entertainment. Please let me know if you have any other questions. |
Im getting an Acer One in blue. Make sure if you get one, get the 6 cell battery over the 3. It will last longer unplugged. Remember if you get it from walmart, they have easy return policies. :) |
My hubby has one mini latop HP I think...he was so excited getting it and now hates it coz its hard to type, hard to read...It gives you a pain in the neck. |

How do you like the size and being able to see the screen? |
I have to wear my glasses whether I use a huge monitor or this one. I see the screen just fine with my glasses on. I had the AssesE and liked it but like the Acer better because it runs WindowsXP. I have no problem with the screen. It is much better than the Asses. |

I agree with the glasses thing and having XP on this one also. I have the Acer Aspire ONe also. I'm loving it. I kept the desktop comp & use the notebook to surf & chat. I like the size for travel when I'm working out of town. |
