Pink Acer My daughter got the pink Acer for Christmas. She just today bought it to Best But to have Microsoft Office installed. She was worried about not enough Hard Drive and they told her she will never use it all up. They installed it with no problem. She loves her little laptop. And the color too.:) |

My Acer Aspire One came with a trial version of Microsoft Office. I believe the trail was for 60 days and with limited use of all the software. I went ahead and purchased a product code which cost me $109.00 for the entire suite of products. What comes on it is the basics Windows XP, Microsoft IE, Some Acer specific software (I forget what the name is but it is their service center). What I was really impressed with is there is a VGA connection, 3 USB ports and the SD/SC Card Reader. I have used mine mostly for Internet browsing, email and downloading some pictures from my camera. I would never be able to use this as my primary computer because well... heck I cannot think of a reason other than I don't want to. I was given this computer as a gift for Christmas, I thought to myself "why the heck would anyone think I needed this" I have a perfectly good Desktop and Laptop but you know I really like this little computer. I used it a lot in the evening when I am watching TV in bed (I like to surf the internet of chat when I watch TV). Oh that is another point, this little computer has a web camera so I can use my Skype with it also. I hope this answers some of your questions, as I said I am really happy with my cute little girly Acer Aspire One. |
I was told by the Sales Rep that sold me my Lenovo that you can go to openoffice.org to download a free program that is compatible with Microsoft Office. I have not done this yet, but will be soon. |

i had a mini sony vaio. i LOVED it, took it everywhere. so small, fit right into my purse. i had it for about 3 years then it fryed. :( |
I would not recommend a mini unless you mainly use it for travelling. for the same features they are higher priced/over priced. I've had two of the sony vaio minis. first one, I had it for three year(barely made through), was constantly having virus issues while all the protection are properly installed. the second one was a sony vaio tx series, 11inches, and super lite with very good battery life, paid $2800 for it(including tax), I was so excited when I got it that I didn't even think about warranty. and a year a half later, the motherboard just died from overheating (I used as my primary computer) and to replace it it costs $700 plus labor, and did I mention I did not get warranty on it??? so I just got a toshiba 13.3" this time, still not too big, but not mini. hopefully this one is a performer rather than a looker:rolleyes: |
I was looking at the netbooks since this computer of mine is giving me problems but I think the size might be too small. I love the fact the Acer has Windows XP. You all seem to know alot about computers so I'll ask you this question. If I purchase a desktop with Vista can I download XP???? Can I take Vista off on Add and Remove?? All I care is that I can download Vista. Someone on another thread said they were getting rid of Vista and now in the process of testing this new Window version. |
So did anyone get the pink acer yet who was thinking about it? |
If you go to QVC and search E06919 that will show everything that came with mine. Be aware that the McAfee is only a 60 day trial and the Microsoft Office is a trial also. The item is no longer available but it's a good picture, video and list of what's with it. |
Oh i thought of a question...do the keys light up for night time use like in bed??? (on the Acer) |
crystalsmom, maybe you can check with the manufacturers. Last March when I picked up a Sony Vaio, it came with Vista installed. At the time, enough people complained about the OS that select manufacturers like Sony, Dell, Gateway, etc, were offering their customers an official copy of XP. Sony did send XP to me and now that's what I've been running ever since. I believe it was a limited time deal and available for only the business class users and up (not for those with Home Edition, etc.) but I could be wrong. Much like a little before I got the Vaio, I had an Asus and it came with XP (it was just before all new systems got Vista pre-installed) but I qualified for getting an official copy of Vista in the mail, but had neglected to do so until it was too late. :( It\'s always good to be given an extra option. The reason why I\'m not sure that they offer the same deal now is that I\'ve heard since Service Pack 1 came out, Vista has been running smoother. |
