I just got ripped off!!! I know this isn't yorkie related but I'm just so mad I have to tell somebody!!!! On my way back home, I stopped at the gas station to fill up. Usually, I just swipe my ATM card at the pump and go about my business. Today, I paid in cash because I had it on me. I handed the cashier $40 (two twenties) and went to the pump. My car only used up $20.15 so I was expecting almost $20 in change. The cashier only gave me $9.00! I went to tell him he still owed me $10. He argued with me. I stepped aside to let other customers pay and go on their way, but I was still in front of him the entire time. He then pretended I wasn't there!!!! I was so mad!!! I know I gave him two twenties because I only had twenties in my wallet, and now I only have $60 left. I continued to tell him he needed to give me my correct change and he still ignored me. I asked for a manager and he said there was no manager or supervisor, just him. He told me if I really wanted my money back, I could go back tomorrow and ask the manager then. If he closes his register and is $10 above what the limit should be then maybe I could get my money back. I tried calling customer service and they were already closed. I wrote down his name and am going back to tomorrow. I don't think I'll be getting my money back though....:mad: |
I sure hope you get it back. I would definitely go back tomorrow. I have had similar things happen to me and have always gotten my money back when they came up with extra cash. One guy embarrassed the heck out of me by telling me that I didn't give him a $20. I knew I did because I only had a $20 in my wallet. He swore it was a $10. I was so mad. I got my money back but he acted like I was stealing money from him. I don't care, I never went back there. good luck. |
Hopefully when you go back tomorrow, you'll get your money...wouldn't that be a nice surprise. |
I'm sorry...:( Some people can be so rude. I lost $20 at a bus station. I put it in and the ticket never came out. I called the 800# on the ticket dispenser. Nothing happened. I hope you get your $$$ back, and I'm really sorry that person was so rude. Best of luck. :) |
Omg girl, that sucks butt!!!! I hope you get your money back. I got one for ya though. One day my bf and I were out running errands and paying bills. We went to the ATM to get cash out, we needed like $400 I think. We knew there was a limit but they're all different and we had gotten that much out before so we didn't think anything of it and hit $400. Sat there and waited and it said it was processing the transaction... the machine printed a receipt but no money came out. The receipt showed that it had definitely debited our account the money. I called the money line just to make sure and yep. So, we called the bank that the ATM was for (it wasn't our bank) and they basically wanted us to wait until Monday before they would do anything about it (this was on a Saturday). I'm hard headed though and $400 is a lot to go without when things have to be paid so I stood my ground and told them no that they needed to get to it today. They had to come down and count the machine (I guess to make sure we were telling the truth), it all took over a hour. We got it though and I was relieved. You think I would have learned my lesson with that ATM but no, one day I went back and wanted $20 and it never printed it but it didn't debit it either like before but it wigged me out so I haven't been back since. I always go to another one. Good luck and stand your ground! |
Good-Luck... I bet he pocketed your $10.00 before he left for the night!! Sorry this happened to you...I would've threatened to call the cops! I bet your money would've shown up then! |
That sucks! I sure hope you get your money back! I hope he didn't pocket the money, and it shows up as being $10 over! Good luck! |

Emilyann, I'm sorry you had to go through that, you definitely had more to lose than I did!! But $10 can gas my car for 3-5 days, so I was mad!!! When I read your comment and I just laughed!! Thanks for making me feel better!!:D |
I wouldn't back down if they give you a hard time. Ask them if they have a camera that watches the register. Many gas stations here do as the attendants work alone for the most part. When I worked retail I never put the customers $ in the til until after they had their change - that way there was never a dispute over what they gave me. I would just set it on top of the open til. I also said out loud 'change from $$' when handing then back money. I had a similar thing happen to me at a gas station. After I left I realized I had received the wrong change. I called from work and they had it waiting for me when I stopped in on my way home. Hopefully your story will have a happy ending. |
This guy wasn't as nice, so I called customer service. The CS Rep was super nice and just asked me for the gas station number, address, and the cashiers name. She also will be sending me a $10 gas gift card. So I'm happy. I'm just glad I wrote everything down before leaving the gas station, and I had the receipt that was time stamped and had my evidence. Yay my $10 gas card will be coming in the mail!:D:D:D |
Good for you! I'm glad things worked out! :) |
Talk to the manager again and if he won't do anything then call their corporate office! I worked retail (as sales and supervisor) and if a customer thought they didn't get the correct amount back and I wasn't 100% sure, I would count the drawer right there and figure it out. Edit to add: I guess I should read the whole thread first! Glad things worked out! |
I know this is a few days old, but I wanted to let you know that my gas card came in the mail today!! It came with a very nice letter of apology and $20 worth of gas cards. And to think that I was to scared to speak up to the cashier. I learned my lesson, it pays to speak up.:D |
It's nice to know that the company made it right. Everyone makes mistakes or has a bad day - but it's how they handle it when it happens. Have fun driving around with some free gas - every bit helps! |
You go back!!! Even if you don't get it back, don't let him think he can keep getting away with this stuff. He should be taught Customer Service skills. He should not be left alone,if that is the way he conducts himself. I would'nt want him representing my business. Good luck and let us know the outcome. |
