Jessica Simpson Ok, now how many of us are sick of hearing that she gained weight! OMG I have boobs, booty, and a pooch! I have a curves!!!!! I am so sick of hearing that Jessica gained weight, now does that make her a has been? When are people going to realize that REAL WOMEN have curves!! I'm not saying I couldn't stand to lose some weight and I would love to find that end all be all diet, but this is just so stupid. I have tried every diet on the earth and just can't seem to get that flat ab look or anything even close. I personally think the girl is beautiful. I bit ditzy, but beautiful!!! How many of you have curves???? and like them???? |
I agree  I mean I think they said that she blew up to an astonishing weight of 132!!!! Can you beleive this!! I mean who would ever want to be 132 lbs?? oh oh I know....How about the Average American Women! I think its sad the way the media has portrayed her weight gain...but I guess thats just the way it is. |
I think it's horrendous that the media is reacting like this. :(:( No wonder eating disorders are so common nowadays. I understand that the business = being in the spotlight. But I just don't understand why people think that just because celebrities are famous means that they have no feelings? How would they feel if they were plastered all over the internet and TV being labeled fat? |
Girl the mark of a true woman is her loving herself. I think that it's disgusting that they are riding her and talking about her weight. I personally am sick of these stick girls that when they turn sideways you don't see a thing. A real woman has curves. We come in all shapes and sizes and it's tiring to always hear these girls wanting to be a size 0. I say eat and take care of yourself but love yourself even if you do have a few pounds here and there. I would love to lose some of this mommy tummy but it is what it is. I used to be rail thin before I met my husband and we had children. I am not fat but I am a healthy size and have some mommy rolls. It is what it is. How come they never worry about whether a man is a size 0 or has a big butt. Guess we need to start asking these men that are snarky about a woman's curves if he has it where it counts. You want me to be a size 0 with a D cup then I want some "stuff" we can't put on here due to young members and I want to be wined and dined regularly if you want me to be miss barbie all the time :p |
At the same time, all, just cause someone is stick thin doesn't mean they shouldn't be proud of themselves and love themselves as long as they are healthy. It's one thing to be skinny, it's another to be unhealthy or starving yourself. |
I AM SO WITH YOU GUYS !!!!!!!......I like the wine and dined....and that's why I'm curvey!!!!!!!........lol |

I agree they need to lay off her. The other day on the Bonnie Hunt show Bonnie was mad because the media had made a cartoon of Jessica simpson way to big ( of course blown out of proportion).......Bonnie said and they wonder what is wrong with our young girls thinking somethings wrong with them if they don't weigh 100 lbs or even less..... I agree with her. My youngest daughter Hannah weighs 117 and she's always wanting to lose weight and I told her she looks fine. She has a pretty figure and not a bean pole........lol not to say anything is wrong with being a bean pole either :) I just wish they would leave people alone when it comes to weight. They should get to know people first......that's what is important. :) Great Post.... |
maybe we should all put blinders on until we get to know someone.....boy wouldn't that make for some conversation after! |
I have had a complete opposite impression than a lot of people. I am very tiny built. I'm 5'0" and 100 lbs. I don't starve myself... in fact I eat a lot. I don't try to be small... I just am and always have been. I'm seriously the size of a 12 year old and yes I sometimes buy kids clothes. All my life, I've constantly been told that I need to eat more, I need to gain weight, and I was asked if I was anorexic as I'm eating a double quarter pounder and a large fry. It kind of annoys me when I hear the phrase "real women have curves". So does that mean I'm not a real woman because I wear a size 1 jeans? While the media may insinuate that everyone should be thin, some "real women" look down on those that are small and I have been made fun of about my size. There are two sides to everything. I think everyone just needs to get past how big or small they are, just strive to be healthy, and love themselves and each other for who they are and not what they look like. |
I heard about her weight gain, and I thought she was going to be HUGE by the way they were talking about it. When I finally saw her pic, it was like OMG. She gained a little, but she still looks GREAT!! It's like your supposed to be skin and bones, and when you are, they talk about you being sick and unhealty. I just don't get it, it's so sad. |
I agree with all the above. A few nights ago on ET they made the comment that Jessica said she was fine with her new look. She was a size 2 a few years back and now she's a size 8. To hear all this from the media you would think she's twice that size. I also thought the belt made her look bigger than she is. |

I think its the outfit...they showed her one month earlier and she looked like she always did. I think its just that set of photo's with the weird belt and jeans. But really so what if she did. Its sad what the media does. It is no wonder so many girls have eating disorders. |
I agree. It's so ridiculous, she is not fat at all! In fact camera adds weight, so in person she prob. looks way skinnier, and just cause she has a little more booty now big deal, she looks great. Ppl make a big deal of nothing and it's called bullying, Hollywood is like a big high school, they bully someone if they gain 5 lbs:rolleyes: |

Me 3!!!:D |
I actually only heard about it on a morning radio show, but that may be because I don't do the gossip mags/tv, I dunno, but I only heard a blurb and it was more about what Ashley said in response to the media. Which I 150% agree with and love her for making the statement she did. It's so disgusting that the media and marketing puts such an emphasis on how big women should be. It's unreal, with our standards now days, marilyn monroe and many other famous, and beautiful, models and actresses would be considered "fat" now. I could go on for hours on the subject, I've debated it a lot with people because I can't stand it. |
The media will work any angle to make a "story" . I mean seriously , she is no where near fat. But being that it is Hollywood and she had the nerve to gain a pound or two , it's clearly a crisis situation. stupid media. I don't care if your stick thin or a little overweight, in Hollywood your screwed either way. But all in all I don't think Jess is feeling to bad about herself for being a beautiful woman, talented (depending on who you ask;)) singer , and dating a little hottie quarterback. Yeah , her life is pretty good :) |
I remember not too long ago the magazines were slating her for being too thin - the poor girl can't win! I admit that I'm someone who has bowed to media pressure in the past and thought I needed to lose weight.... I was counting calories and exercising execessively until one day I just thought 'ENOUGH!' I'm a UK size 10 (not sure what that is in US sizes - 14?) and I'm happy with that now......as a mum of two little girls I dont want to pass on my body insecurities to them, so my thinking now is 'it's not perfect but it's healthy and it's mine':D The media annoy me - surely there are more important things happening in the world than Jessica Simpson putting on a little weight!? xx xx |

I am trying to get to size 8 from a size 12. I'm 47 and 20 years ago was a size 2. I'm a woman and want to still look like a woman--- just a little less so.;) JS's outfit did her no favors, nor did the camera angles. Her face, looks so much better at this healthy weight, that's for sure. |
I think what the media is doing to her is just horrible :(. I can only hope that she feels *good* about herself. What saddens me is what if she doesn't feel good about herself right now (like we all go through stages), and now the media is putting her under a microscope. Just cruel. |
I hate that I can see 2 sides to this.... First off, part of me wants to be irate because I HATE the media and how I believe it is responsible for putting the ideas in teen and preteen (and well adults too) girls' heads that they need to look a certain way. I HATE that. As someone who has dealt personally with anorexia, I can honestly say that the media has a great impact on the mental health of girls. I hate seeing the best/worst in swimsuits every summer in the checkout lane at the store. I hate how they take stars that are "normal" sized and make them out to be fat cows. On the other hand..... I don't think that overweight (not that she is) should ever be standard or that woman should be applauded for being proud to be fat. As a country we need to take this seriously as we have the biggest (no pun intended) problem with obesity in children and adults. I don't think that people anywhere should be proud that they are carrying an unhealthy amount of weight on them. I wouldn't be proud to have lung cancer and keep on smoking. I have recently gained some weight and I want nothing more than to get back into shape so I can be healthy for my family. I believe it is equally unhealthy for the media to do what they are doing and for others to make people too comfortable and proud to remain unhealthy and overweight. If everyone would eat healthy and in moderation, and exercise, sure we would still all be different sizes and shapes, but we would all be healthy and could rightfully be happy and content with ourselves, ideally of course. |

I think it doesn't help matters that it costs more to buy healthy food typically than it does to buy junk food. |
