Would I have time to get the pepper spray out? It's not fair that we have to worry about something so small as walking our dogs. A larger dog would be able to kill a yorkie in no time.:( | Duke will try to go after the dog if the dog is already coming at us, so my first reaction is to grab him then yell at the dog.
You can get small pepper spray things that go on like a key chain (I'm pretty sure they still have them)
The times I have had a dog come at me, the dog usually takes a minute before he makes a move, so in the time that he's standing there you could already have the pepper spray out.
If you have a dog thats charging at you like it's ready to kill and theres no stopping it, and you don't have anything ready to use, I've always been told to strike them in the nose because it's the most sensitive spot on them. I've never had to do it, but it's something I keep in the back of my mind just in case. |
