Thought you guys would like to know Im sure we are pretty much all aware of the gardasil vaccine, Heres some more info that was released recently. And to think my daughters doctor was really pushing for me to agree to this vaccine, shes 13. Death toll linked to Gardasil vaccine rises |
This doesn't surprise me at all. I wondered about that when it first came out. So many medications are put out before enough study of them and the trusting people pay the price. I hope this word gets spread before more die or have complications from it. I wish doctors wouldn't prescribe meds for their patients unless they know in their heart they are safe. |
This is so scary...:( Our campus health center is really pushing for everyone to get the vaccine as well. The last time I was there in September, my doctor talked to me about it. I was actually considering it too... |
I saw the ads and I thought to myself sure...it's amazing how they push these things out and they seem to cause more harm than good.. I mean the thing only covers what 3 or so of a multitude of strains of cancer. Please I am not giving my daughters that mess. |
i got the first two rounds of it,i never got the third because the first two hurt more than any other shot ive had...im scared to read the article:( |
I heard that it was so painful that many women fainted from the pain. |
it did hurt, not to that point but more than other shots and i was told each got worse so i couldnt bring myself to do it... |
(I talk about. S.E.X.) I think that if you teach your child to be responsibly sexually active its not a necessary shot. Seriously, its been this huge push to give it to every girl before them become sexually active and the doctors and company's are very much trying to scare you into it. The reason they're pushing it so young is because it "loses its effectiveness" after you've had sex. I find it sad that this has to happen to girls at such a young age because their is no open dialogue between parents and their kids. Parents don't know when their kids become sexually active so you give it to them early in the hopes that its not already too late. Sad I think. Research it, just like anything else before you give it to your daughter. |

VERY well said! My daughters are now 14 and 12 years old. When my 14 year old was getting her vaccinations this past summer, the pediatrician was really trying to push the Gardisil vaccine. I refused to allow it because I have read WAY more negative things vs. positive things about it. I know every mom wants to think that they KNOW their own daughters and know that they will make the right decisions regarding s.e.x. but I truly believe that me and my daughters are on the same wavelength about this issue and I trust them to make the right decisions. It's just not worth risking their lives for a vaccination like this. |
Sent the link to my 23 yr. old daughter who I know sees docs pushing it. |
I think this is something people need to discuss and think about, versus just going out believing advertisements and doctors without extra thought. I'm in the demographics to get the vaccine and my doctors always recommend it when I see them. I'd been debating getting it and then I actually had a HPV/cancer scare last year. My original results came back not normal and I can certainly say I was besides myself before the analysis came back. The only thing that stopped me from getting it, frankly, was money since the shot series is very expensive (even with my insurance). Through the entire experience though I found out something: HPV CANNOT be tested in men. So while you can say what you want about the vaccine (I decided not to get it simply because of so many negative/scary findings) it is great to try to prevent something that can be so easily spread, especially if the person that spreads it doesn't ever know they have it! Back on topic though I think it's great for people to start thinking critically about things, especially medications! If nothing else this will hopefully have people start to think about things a bit more than they normally would! |
My kids' pediatrician was against it from the beginning and so was I. Along with the personal issues I had with the vaccine, I just didn't think it seemed safe. I am starting to really not like any vaccines anymore though. |
My daughters 14 and 18 did not get the shot. I was very reluctant to get it because I wanted to learn more about it. The more I'm learning the more I'm glad I didn't. |
i dont even wanna read these articles anymore:(.. i was one of the ppl that got persuaded to get it and i totally regret it..i mean nothing extreme happened to me other than i get very very tired now during the day.. but its a big lesson learned.. will never do anything again (healthwise) until i research first.. |

Im sorry to those who have already gotten the shot, I did not mean to scare any of you :( It is so sad that these girls/women are used as guinny pigs just so the government makes a quick buck. I had my daughter at a very young age and my mom never sat with me and talked to me about sex. All she said was you better not be having sex, a few months later I was pregnant. I have told my daughter (shes 13) EVERYTHING that I have been through to get where I am today and we have spoken about sex and drugs. I always tell her if you think you are ready to have sex please come and tell me. while I know its going to be hard, whats harder....Mom I think Im ready or mom Im having a baby. I try to get her to realize that while being a pregnant teenager is hard there are options, If you have unprotected sex and catch genital herpes, HPV, HIV...theres no antibiotics that can cure you...there are no options. we have to be so open with our kids, especially in todays day and age. |
That's scary. I hope my mom doesn't make me get it... :( |

My daughter's old pediatrician said it could very likely become a requirement for school registration at a certain grade at some point. If that ever happens I will be finding out how people who don't get vaccinations due to religious reasons get out of them. I understand basic vaccination requirements but it is getting completely ridiculous. For example, chicken pox. Come on- how is this a legal requirement for school? It's totally getting out of hand. |
just read this article about it on wikipedia. This is the line that scared me the most. Although at least 20 women who received the Gardasil vaccine have died, there is no evidence that deaths or serious outcomes were connected to the shot.[31] Where information was available, the cause of death was explained by other factors.[29] Likewise, although a small number of cases of Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) have been reported following vaccination with Gardasil.[30][32], there is no evidence linking GBS to the vaccine.[30] I feel as though if 20 people die soon after the shot its not really a coincidence. Gardasil - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia If you've gotten the shot please don't feel like I, or I'm sure any one else talking here, are trying to bring you down or question your choice. It does have a very good track record of preventing the disease. Its the side effects and results that make it so sketchy in my opinion. As for making it mandatory I don't think it will ever get that far especially since its been on the market for less than a year (?) now and there are such major problems with it. |

Im copying this and bringing it to my DR. Ive been fighting not having this shot for my daughter(shes 10). They keep telling me Im making a mistake. Crazy docs |
The thing about it is, that it truly does appeart o be really good at preventing the HPV viruses and the resulting cancer. But is it safe enough to make it worth it? I dunno. If you have this shot and don't get any of the side effects then you're protected against Most cervical cancer. That's good. But you could suffer horrible side effects and are still able to get many other types of cancers. Its one of those "How much is your health worth and are you willing to take chances with it" type questions. |
they wanted my daughter to take this vaccine and she is 12 I was like NOPE you will not be experimenting on my baby. Not been out there long enough to know if it is worth it so nope my baby will NOT be getting it:thumbdown |
i was told by a nurse that this vaccine wasn't a promise that it would work. maybe she meant not all cases are covered under this vaccine. my daughters are 17 & 19 and they don't want it, so i wasn't going to push the issue. it is a good thing if it works, but if you have side effects and things that just linger on........i think they should have done longer studies on this :) alot of new things make me nervous though :) |
