Thought you guys would like to know Im sure we are pretty much all aware of the gardasil vaccine, Heres some more info that was released recently. And to think my daughters doctor was really pushing for me to agree to this vaccine, shes 13. Death toll linked to Gardasil vaccine rises |
This doesn't surprise me at all. I wondered about that when it first came out. So many medications are put out before enough study of them and the trusting people pay the price. I hope this word gets spread before more die or have complications from it. I wish doctors wouldn't prescribe meds for their patients unless they know in their heart they are safe. |
This is so scary...:( Our campus health center is really pushing for everyone to get the vaccine as well. The last time I was there in September, my doctor talked to me about it. I was actually considering it too... |
I saw the ads and I thought to myself sure...it's amazing how they push these things out and they seem to cause more harm than good.. I mean the thing only covers what 3 or so of a multitude of strains of cancer. Please I am not giving my daughters that mess. |
i got the first two rounds of it,i never got the third because the first two hurt more than any other shot ive had...im scared to read the article:( |
I heard that it was so painful that many women fainted from the pain. |
it did hurt, not to that point but more than other shots and i was told each got worse so i couldnt bring myself to do it... |
(I talk about. S.E.X.) I think that if you teach your child to be responsibly sexually active its not a necessary shot. Seriously, its been this huge push to give it to every girl before them become sexually active and the doctors and company's are very much trying to scare you into it. The reason they're pushing it so young is because it "loses its effectiveness" after you've had sex. I find it sad that this has to happen to girls at such a young age because their is no open dialogue between parents and their kids. Parents don't know when their kids become sexually active so you give it to them early in the hopes that its not already too late. Sad I think. Research it, just like anything else before you give it to your daughter. |

VERY well said! My daughters are now 14 and 12 years old. When my 14 year old was getting her vaccinations this past summer, the pediatrician was really trying to push the Gardisil vaccine. I refused to allow it because I have read WAY more negative things vs. positive things about it. I know every mom wants to think that they KNOW their own daughters and know that they will make the right decisions regarding s.e.x. but I truly believe that me and my daughters are on the same wavelength about this issue and I trust them to make the right decisions. It's just not worth risking their lives for a vaccination like this. |
Sent the link to my 23 yr. old daughter who I know sees docs pushing it. |
I think this is something people need to discuss and think about, versus just going out believing advertisements and doctors without extra thought. I'm in the demographics to get the vaccine and my doctors always recommend it when I see them. I'd been debating getting it and then I actually had a HPV/cancer scare last year. My original results came back not normal and I can certainly say I was besides myself before the analysis came back. The only thing that stopped me from getting it, frankly, was money since the shot series is very expensive (even with my insurance). Through the entire experience though I found out something: HPV CANNOT be tested in men. So while you can say what you want about the vaccine (I decided not to get it simply because of so many negative/scary findings) it is great to try to prevent something that can be so easily spread, especially if the person that spreads it doesn't ever know they have it! Back on topic though I think it's great for people to start thinking critically about things, especially medications! If nothing else this will hopefully have people start to think about things a bit more than they normally would! |
My kids' pediatrician was against it from the beginning and so was I. Along with the personal issues I had with the vaccine, I just didn't think it seemed safe. I am starting to really not like any vaccines anymore though. |
My daughters 14 and 18 did not get the shot. I was very reluctant to get it because I wanted to learn more about it. The more I'm learning the more I'm glad I didn't. |
i dont even wanna read these articles anymore:(.. i was one of the ppl that got persuaded to get it and i totally regret it..i mean nothing extreme happened to me other than i get very very tired now during the day.. but its a big lesson learned.. will never do anything again (healthwise) until i research first.. |
