Internet Explorer? What is best to use.
 
I am having a problem using Internet Explorer and was wondering what others use. How do I switch to another? What would others here recommend?

I would suggest Mozilla Firefox. ;)

I have used mozilla firefox for yrs and havent had any problems and it is a very rare thing to get a pop up ad using it

I just switched to Firefox a few weeks ago. I was worried that I wouldn't like it because I was so used to IE but it is very easy to use and get used to. All you need to do is go to the Mozilla site and downland it and run it.:)

Yeah we use Mozilla at work also and I use it at home now. I was getting all kinds of errors with IE. Mozilla works great and most everyone I know uses it now.

Since switching over to Firefox more than a year ago, I've not experienced any of the problems I was continually having with IE.

Firefox
You will get very few pop-ups and around 90% less viruses.

If you have a Mac, you might also want to look at Safari.

I've used Firefox for years now.

What I also love about it is that one of Firefox's add-ons is Foxmarks - and it not only bookmarks like usual, but it keeps all of your bookmarks online as well (privately) and backs them up automatically. You could access them from anywhere. AND, it can synchronize bookmarks from multiple computers, if you want. So, when I save a new bookmark - it is then synchronized to the 2 other computers I use so that ALL my bookmarks look exactly the same on the computers I use. :)

Oh Neat-o! I'm going to have to look into that. I resisted Firefox for so long (change scares me:p) but I am so happy with it. I was getting a virus from another forum. They kept saying it couldn't be from them but everyone using IE was getting it. It was a bad one that shut down my virus software and if I didn't notice the viruses and trojans added up fast. My computer was completely unusable for a full day until my husband could fix it. Since I started using Firefox- no viruses and no freezing up. It seems faster too.

I switched to Firefox a few months ago too and I am very happy with it. I agree, I feel that it runs faster than internet explorer. Pages just seem to load quicker. The only drawback I have for using it, is that a lot of the video lectures that I have to watch for college classes are not compatible with firefox.:mad:

I switched to Firefox a few weeks ago when Internet Explorer was having security problems. It is a much more secure server.

I find it loads much faster and I don't have all the problems with freezing up I did with IE.

I hate change too....But I did the switch to Firefox....Awesome.....:thumbup::thumbup:
I still have IE....but I never use it....It is worth the change and super easy....

Can someone let us know where to go to download the program mozilla firefox and which version? Thanks for your replys to our posting here. The IE has gotten so aggravating lately to use. Again thank you.

My security vendor switched us to Mozilla Firefox a year ago and it is so much better than IE and according to them more secure.

Mozilla Firefox...it's free and since I started using it i've never gotten a virus or annoying popups.

One of the other things I'm really loving about Firefox is how it keeps your most frequently visited sites up in the bar on top. I hardly ever have to click bookmarks now. Am I too easily pleased?:p

eta- Also the Cooliris add on. How fun is that? I can play with that all day.

LOL, you are easy to please. Did you know you don't have type the full address to your most visited sites? Like you can type "ebay" or "yorkietalk" and it does the rest for you.

What's Cooliris? I don't play with add-ons so I've not seen it.

It is safer for your computer.



I'm surprised to see so many people still using IE.
My major issue is compatibility issues with Firefox but it is worth that.

LOL, yeah, I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Cooliris is a search engine for images or video but your results come back kind of 3-D. It looks like they are scrolling through space. I think it's pretty nifty.:D

This may not be the most up to date info but... IE has a known security breech. Up until now only gamers' passwords have been compromised but the breech could extend to other things if they don't get it fixed. MS has a patch for it but I heard it is very complicated and ineffective. I was getting viruses and my computer was locking up. No problems now that I'm using firefox.:thumbup:

I'm another fire fox believer. we still have IE just in case we need it to open something but 95% of the world is now fire fox compatible.

There's a link posted in this thread to download. You don't have to uninstall IE just use the firefox icon to get on the internet instead of the IE one.

I'm on a Mac and use both Firefox and Safari...both are good...I never use IE anymore...
