We'll my squares really aren't square....LOL.. I cant cut straight to save my life then. And I was thinking the same thing. I live in an apartment and we don't even have a table. I need a super large table now...hehe..
I have a great idea for the square pieces that are left. I might make toys for my baby with them. You can just put a squeaker on the inside and sew it up. When I bought my napsack from Chattiesmom she did that and my boy loved it. And of course it matches your blanket. :)

It really doesn't matter about keeping the fringes straight, you should have seen mine, I think I did the 5 inch ones and some of mine were over 5 inches LOL. Everything I've made still turned out great though. I didn't know you could do the shoelace ties?? I always have done the balloon knots & I'm thinkin' maybe that's why my fingers were cramping so bad. I know you can't pull the knots too tight or it'll leave gaps in between each fringe.

I always make Lilly toys from leftover fabric I have from my many projects.

You could always buy a card table though! That way you always have the option of putting it away whenever you don't need to use it!

How funny that I stumbled upon this thread....I am in the middle of making the kiddos a new blanket for Valentine's Day :p Got 2 sides finished, just have to finish the other 2 sides :D I make gobs and gobs of these blankets....so many that I don't even know what to do with them anymore :eek: It's quite pathetic - I have a blanket addiction :rolleyes: But I think my kiddos do too, they love them!

P.S. - I too make them toys with the leftover fleece...they just got 4 new toys tonight as a matter of fact LOL :p They were playing tug of war with them, so cute! :D They LOVE those things!!

Good, I am glad you are a professional. How did I do on mine...LOL. I think there might be some gaps between my fringes..hehe

Brooke, you sound like Lilly and I haha!!! It's truly ridiculous the amount of blankets we have around this house. Half are handmade, half are store bought. I don't even know WHY I think we need this many blankets but oh well, at least I know we'll most likely never be cold. Lilly just loves to snuggle and lounge around on blankets though quite a bit so they are put to use.

Don't worry about making your fringes perfectly straight. That's the beauty of this project... it still looks good if it's not straight!

lol... I took a fleece throw that I had and made Lucky a bed and blanket. He loves them. They are very easy to make. I am going to get some more fleece at the fabric outlet and make some more. I just used one of my old pillows for the bed. :)

Lol... that's one of the cutest pictures and he looks so cozy and warm. I have several fleece throws that I only paid 5.00 for and I thought about doing that too. You did a great job.

Girl.. you're a go getter for sure and I think you did a good job. As for the corners, I'm going to cut a 5" square out of cardboard (shoe box lid) to use for a template like the u-tube video. I also laid mine out on the bed to even it up but I'll probably move it to my dining table to finish it. I once had one of those fold-up cardboard cutting boards but when I quit sewing I threw it away. :(

Btw... not sure if they still do it but some of the fabric stores will give you a yard stick if you buy fabric but you have to ask.

I did not read this entire thread, so some one else might have already posted this. but Hancock has fleece 60% off right now.

So I'm going to stock up for my puppy blankets.

Thank You. the new owners always tell me that their first night goes well. So I'm hoping it makes a difference. At least the smell is familiar.

We'll that is exactly what I did. I used the rotary cutting mat to cut a 5x5 piece of cardboard out. But I didn't cut it very straight..lol.. Not good at that part. and trying to hold in on the blanket when I was cutting was a little difficult. I think one corner was a 5x6..LOL I am going to look for different size square rulers for this part. :)
I saw a yard stick at wal-mart for like a 1.28 but I forgot to pick it up. ;)

LOL, I was soooo bored last night so after I finished a dog bed, I decided to make a blanket. I had some Strawberry Shortcake fleece left over from when I made Lilly's sleeping bag so I took that and some light baby pink and made a itty bitty blankie. I cut everything freehand and pretty much just guessed on it being the right amount of inches. It turned out wonderful, I didn't even use anything to keep my corner squares straight. I'll post pictures in a few.

Well, whenever I've made stuff before that had the no-sew fringes on it, I always used the balloon tie and it was such a pain. I didn't know you could just do a shoelace tie, which is much easier and I think it looks better when it's double knotted. I'll most likely still make them for friends and family as gifts or for just whatever, I stay home by myself so I'm always looking for something to do.

The Strawberry Shortcake one is itty bitty but perfect for Lilbug! I'm going to either sell the flower one or give it to someone as a gift. I hate making stuff because then I want to keep it all. I just finished a bed and I wanna keep it, LOL.:rolleyes:

Oh how cute, now what size are those corners? And I love Strawberry shortcake. Did you just take some extra fleece you had or did you use a kit?

yay i just got my fleece today! now i'm debating whether i want to make the blankets for my boyfriend and i or for our babies LOL :p the fleece i saw at walmart was fairly cheap but they didn't have a lot of selection at the one i went to. then i went to joann's and found out they were having a sale!! 40% off the solids and some of the prints! you can buy it online too :)

I bought mine from Joannes online and in the store. Make one for everybody...hehe

I heard that Walmart is doing away with their fabrics. :(

they probably are, emily told me that too. the regular walmart here has fabric but super walmart doesnt. i'm DEFINITELY going to order fleece from hancock since they're having a nice sale on them. i might just have to take a trip to the hancock in tampa and buy some :)
