| Every dog owner should see this. Breed Specific Legislation should be Banned. BSL should be banned, or at the very least, muzzled. I think every dog owner, not matter of what breed, should see this. http://i533.photobucket.com/albums/e...momma/help.gif |

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | WONDERFUL post! I'm with you 100%. I understand that pitbulls have a bad rep, but that is no excuse to ban all of them. To take someone's family pet - BABY - and kill it because of it's BREED - there is NO excuse. I don't care if every other pit in that dog's city has attacked someone, unless that specific dog ITSELF does something, there is just no reason to kill it. I can't even *imagine* what pitbull owners must go through...wondering if their baby will be next to be unjustly killed. I *love* pitbulls. I always have. They are beautiful dogs. I've only met a few. This past Christmas eve, I was going to Midnight Mass with my cousin, so I went with her to a family friend's house for a party, and one of the guys that was there brought his "son" (as he called him) with him, and he was a pitbull named Papi. I spent the whole time on the floor with him, as did my 6 year old second cousin. Papi was the perfect gentleman with my cousin, and he was the sweetest big guy with me. He spent the majority of the time sitting in my lap rubbing his head against my hand. There ARE good pitbulls out there. there are *more* good pitts than there are bad. The news has corrupted the view of pitbulls. Just because they are Pits does not mean they are bad dogs and it does NOT mean they deserve to be killed. People on here get so offended - and rightly so - when someone refers to our yorkies as "ankle biters" "yappers" "rats" and so on. But we can then turn around and say that someone else's baby deserves to be KILLED and they should ALL be outlawed? I don't *think* so! These dogs are peoples' "children" "babies" "furkids" - they love their dogs JUST as much as we love ours. One innocent dog's life is not more important than other's. PUNISH THE DEED, NOT THE BREED!

| You are absolutely right! No dog deserves to be punished for another dogs actions. Words to live by sister! My favorite quote EVER! lol I belive that that little graphic, can make even the most 'ignorant' of people open their yes, because it explains the situation perfectly.. |

| I agree completely. So what is the next step? IS there any addresses or links that we need to go to so we can express our opinions? Where is this happening, and who are the people that can make the changes? Anyone?

| Every pit bull I know has been the friendliest, most loveable dog. My neighbor has a pit and she is kinda scared of my yorkies! She always hunches down when she sees them and plays nicely. Chip made a pit submit one time, which was hysterical. Chip was only about 4 months old and we were in PetSmart and this pit growled at him. Next thing I know, the pit is on his back and Chip was walking all over him! Anyways, breed bans are stupid and people are ignorant. Just because I was almost attacked by a lab, doesn't mean their all vicious. Or how about the Chi that tried to attack me when I was little. Or that dalmation that was circling me because he wanted to attack. Or the pom that bit me. Aggressiveness can happen in all breeds and it's mainly caused by the *lack* of training or abuse the dog endures.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I am 100% against Breed Specific Legislation. If ONE breed ever gets banned, it means ALL breeds are then in danger of the same discrimination.

| Wasn't sure what BSL meant, so thanks Wylie'smom! Pitbulls are banned here thanks to idiots who abused the power of this breed for dogfighting (something which makes me sick to my stomach - as I'm sure it does everyone here) and also quite recently people who live in council flats/houses were banned from keeping certain dogs such as Rottweilers, German Shepherds, Staffs etc.....there was an article in my local paper about an elderly lady who had been told that she must get rid of her 11-year old German Shepherd - or face eviction This dog was her baby and treasured as greatly as we love our yorkies xxx xx

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | You're welcome ! I actually just now fixed the thread title so that it spelled out the "BSL" portion. Hope that helps clarify!

| Its nice to see a bunch of people who share the same opinions on the matter I have searched and searched but have yet to find a BSL official website I know around here people hold rallies and protest against BSL and Have events to raise money for other groups that fight against them. If any of you are interested you should ask around and find out ways to get involved! This website has alot of information on the matter.
