"Wii" have questions.... can you help "mii"?? ;) Alright guys, we are jumping on the Wii bandwagon. I want to get my hubby one for his birthday, but I guess they are all sold out everywhere? Also, I can't figure this out, but what would a reasonable price for one (basic w/ the sports and maybe fit)? I have seen them range from $250-$500, but I don't know what the differences are with the accessories they come with, you know? Costco.com had then for $244- it was the Wii console w/ Wii sports bundle. Unfortunately they are all sold out. Can someone who is familiar with all this stuff point me in the right direction? I don't want to get screwed but I am soooooo uneducated on electronics and wouldn't know a good/bad deal if it hit me in the face!! Thanks in advance guys!! |
Well ours was a present from my son, so I don't know the price, but the sports bundle is a great feature. My hubby was never really into games, but enjoys all the sports games, and he also bought the Tiger Woods golf one and enjoys that too. The Wii fit isn't that big of a hit yet. His absolute favorite is Mario Kart, and it's a great distresser for him, but that may be because there are so many crazy drivers in AZ, and he can finally get his aggression out! |
Ours came with the sports games and was around $250. I dont think you can get it with the wii fit you have to get that separate and it is very hard to get because they only release a small amount of them at a time for sale to keep the demand high. Do you have a gamestop? If you do find out when they get their shipments in and then call every week on that day and see if they have the wii or the fit. I called 6 gamestops on friday the day of their shipments before i found a Fit. The Wiis are harder to find right now right afterChristmas but are easier to find later. We got ours in July and didnt have any problems finding one. Good luck you will love having a Wii |
Oh and you wondering about prices the wii fit is $90. But once you have the balance board that goes with it you can also use it with other games that you can buy |

Anyone else?? |
It's been a while since we bought ours ,but we got the wii with the wii sport game and it was around $250.00 @ Target. :) I love it. Some of the ones that are more expensive come with extra accessories like a charger or extra games. I would recommend getting the charger ( either with it or separetley ) and not using batteries because it's always ready to go with the charger. |
I bought the Wii sports last week at Target for 250. It's fantastic with great graphics etc. |

I bought my Wii at Target the day after Thanksgiving. It was $250 and I think it always includes the sports package game (bowling, golf, etc..) I think the range of prices are when stores bundle them. My experience in shopping around is they bundle them with games that aren't as popular. Sometimes they bundle them with extra remotes or nunchuks. Best buy had it bundled with remotes and nunchuks, but there wasn't even a savings. We did buy a 2nd nunchuk and we bought the Wii play which gave us a 2nd remote and some additional sports games. We also bought a charger for the remotes. My brother bought us the Wii fit for Christmas which we haven't tried yet, but we are looking forward to it! I have never enjoyed video games in the past, but the interaction of the Wii makes it different and it's alot of fun! |
I bought the WII for about $300.00. It came with the sports pack, controller and one numchuck controller. I just purchased the Wii Fit from Amazon.com, $155.00. It comes with the balance board and several fit games. The fit just arrived today so I have not tried it yet. I ordered it because a doctor I know uses one. He likes the Yoga! |
We got the Wii when it first came out, it was in a bundle package from Toy's R Us. They got the Zelda game, the Wii sports, one controller and numchuck...We got 3 more controllers so each of our boy's would have one to play and we also picked out a few more games for them to have:rolleyes: I can't remember what we had payed for the bundle package itself as it was a few years ago but with all the extra's it was quite a bit:eek: We got Wii fit for them this year it was $90. Also I ended up getting the recharging stations for the controllers a few months after them having the Wii as they were going through the batteries like crazy;) I would check and see if Toy's R Us has any bundle packages, they had a few out when we were looking to get just the Wii fit at Christmas time. |
We got the Wii Sport console and Wii Fit for Christmas. The price for the Wii Sport around here is what everyone else has been saying, $250. The Wii Fits run around $90. Walmart sells them, but you have to keep checking back. They usually get sold pretty quickly. Maybe now that Christmas is over, the demand for them will be less? I would definitely invest in another numchuck and controller (we went with the $45 one with the Wii Play game), for two player compatability. It has been so much fun! |
Well thanks guys. You all really helped me. I feel like I now know what to look for, and know not to pay more than $300 for the Wii w/ the sports bundle. I will def. get a couple extra controllers and the charging station. I am just going to wait a bit and see if the demand goes back down a bit because everywhere is still sold out of them. Thanks again! I knew I could count on you guys! |
Go to froogle.com, type in the search box wii console. You will get many hits with prices all over the board. |
I recommend getting the Wii Play game which comes with a free Wii mote instead of just buying an extra Wii mote. The Wii motes are $40 each, but you get one included with the Wii play game which is $50. The Wii Play game has 10 mini games on it, which I think are fun.:D |
Is this a good deal??? AcuShopping - Nintendo Wii Sports Console - 2 Player Ready If that doesn't work, it's the Wii + Wii Sports +Wii Play (extra remote and nunchuck included) for $379 Is that a rip-off? It's the best price I've found in stock... Should I wait or get it now? Hubby's b-day is Jan. 20th.... |
*yawn* Just woke up and decided to get online and check YT. It's raining a nice steady rain. It should be easy to sleep, so why did I get out of bed??? lol Amanda - The Wii Sport console was $250 at Walmart. I was wrong in my above post when I said I gave $50 for the extra controller and nunchuck. I got those from Amazon.com. The extra controller with Wii Play was $45 ($50 at Walmart) and the nunchuck was $18 ($20 at Walmart) before taxes (together they both were eligible for super saver shipping. So, before taxes, between Amazon and Walmart, we paid $313 for the Wii Sport console, extra controller, and nunchuck (before taxes). How many Walmarts are around you? We have 4 in about a 30 mile radius. When two stores I checked on didn't have it, a 3rd one did. It's hit or miss. They get shipments in randomly, you just have to check (maybe call?) often. When we were looking for them before Christmas, I noticed that typically the prices online for the Wii Sport console (and the Wii Fits too) were priced higher. I can't wait until you get one. It is SO much fun. I'm 36 and I love it. My brother, who is 7 years older than me, now wants one after he played it with us at Christmas. |

It's about $66 more than what I paid for mine (before taxes). Is it free S&H? |
I think the Wii console that includes the Wii Sports game, 1 nunchuk and 1 Wii-remote is running about $250-300 locally. It will come w/ everything needed to get it hooked up (which just consists of plugging it into your tv and outlet - step by step instructions) and for one player. You will need extra nunchuks and remotes (we bought two extra's of each, to make a total of 3, since there are there of us here). Nunchuks are about $19 and remotes are about $35. We bought Wii Play (with 9 games on it) and it came with a remote. The remotes all came w/ "skins"...not colored. For that, I think we paid around $25-29. We also bought a remote charging station (I think it was about $35 or so) because we didn't know how long the AA batteries would last in the remotes. I believe all the remotes, etc came with batteries. The Wii Fit was $90 (89) and came w/ everything you needed to get it started (game, balance board, batteries, etc)...those are pretty hard to find right now though. Shop new first...I went to some game stores and their "used" remotes, etc where only about $5 cheaper then brand new...and who knows if those have been thrown into the wall or something  Also, when you look at games...look at the back cover in the upper right corner....It will show a picture of the remote and a #, that means you will need let's say, 1 remote or if there is a #2, you can play two people, so two remotes needed....or if it shows a nunchuk, that is needed to play the game, so on...... |

Have you check out the Walmart site? They have many different bundles, and they are usually great with prices, and will ship to a local store for free. Video Games - Wal-mart. One feature that we added was the network adapter, and this allows you to hook up the Wii to the Web. |

Even around Christmas, the wii fits and wii consoles were readily available here in Canada--or at least here in BC at most, if not all, Costco's, Toys 'R Us, etc. If you can find someone who might ship for cheap or for free? Maybe that's an option or a visiting friend or relative who lives in Canada? If you know someone up here, you may be able to get the console discounted enough to cover shipping costs if, say, s/he buys it from Superstore/Loblaws, they have a buy over $250 or thereabouts and get $30 off or some such (they change up the value every so often). :) Just another option as I'm not sure if Costco.ca would fill Costco.com orders. |
I just picked up my Wii and one for my daughter on Saturday. Stores here are all sold out but I was lucky enough to find a few brand new ones craigs list for $300.00 each. I like the suggestion of purchasing the charger. I haven't gotten mine hooked up yet, but anxious to get going on playing w/it....:) |
