When You All Taking Your Christmas Tree Down? I want to take it down already... I'm a killjoy! My front room looks like a bomb has it because Amelia's toys are all over the place because the tree is taking up the space where they are normally kept. I'm thinking I might take it down on the 2nd... when's everyone else doing it? |
Don't feel like a killjoy- I always take ne down the 26th. After Christmas it's just a symbol of a big chore looming and I want it over.:p Plus my birthday is the 29th so even as a chld my mom took it down early so I didn't feel like my birthday was being shared with Christmas. I LOVE havig my house back to normal.:) |
i am taking a break from taking mine down right now (such a time consuming task!). i love my tree but it takes up so much of my family room that i like to take it down very soon after christmas. |
I love having the tree up, but it will be coming down either the 1st or 2nd. The holidays fly by so fast anymore. |

happy belated birthday!:bigbdaypa |
I will be taking mine down this weekend. I love putting it up but after Christmas it is just clutter. |
LOL. I never put one up this year so I don't have one to take down. My b-day is on the 28th and I never had a birthday party or anything special growing up... it was always... "this is for Christmas AND your b-day." :(:( Anyone feel sorry for me yet? Now I do have a few wonderful people who make my day more special. :D |
I'm not gonna lie. When I was growing up we put ours up and kept it up till Easter. (The years when we had one.) My mom always got it for Half price from the tree place. I will probably keep ours up until February at least, especially since its fake. It was like our family tradition. But I think that taking it down on the 2nd is a fine option. :) |
I love Christmas Eve best of all ----I just love the anticipation of it all. I then enjoy a lovely Christmas lunch and a slice of christmas cake for tea. On Boxing Day I have cold ham with "bubble and squeak" made from the left over sprouts and boiled potatoes and more cake for tea. The following day 27th December Christmas is completely over and down come the decorations and tree. I have enjoyed it to its fullness . Mary |
I always take mine down a day or two before New Year's Day. In my tradition we do all our cleaning, bill paying, etc. 'before' the New Year because the ancestors say that what you do the first couple days of the New Year is what you will end up doing the rest of the year:rolleyes: |

I dreaded putting mine up...now i'm dreading taking it down!! Ugh!!! I didnt want to decorate at all this year...but my mom kept calling me scrooge everytime she came over...i fall under peer pressure lol  |
I'm APPALLED!!!        I'm reporting the whole lot of you to the Christmas Police!!! The 6th of January for me-ALWAYS! Its tradition Epiphany-the 12th day of Christmas when the wise men visited baby Jesus!!! AND Its my BIRTHDAY!!! I just love to have the tree and deccies up on my special day:p Though it is a bit of an anticlimax when I have to spend the evening clearing everything away! |
Took mine down the other night. My boyfriend jumped my crap telling me that I needed to get it down before New Years because it's bad luck to still have it up. We moved right before Christmas though and our downstairs is reallyyyy open compared to our old house. We did good at the old place to fit the couch in the living room. Now, I have allllllll this room and it looks SO weird without the tree now. I feel like it looks like a bachelor lives here  |

I still have my tree(s) up!!! I am going to enjoy them at least thru the 6th.... probably a bit past that. The decorations on the outside of the house (with the exception of the window candles) have been taken down. :( My hubby decided that because the weather is suppose to start getting nasty here tomorrow, he wanted to take it down while it was DRY. I am looking forward spending New Years Eve and New Years Day with dh and furbutts and the "warmth" of the Christmas trees all lit up with some good movies. :) |
LOL! The morning of Dec.26 |
I keep mine up till the weekend after New Years...But shouldn't be such a chore taking it down this year as I only put 1/3 of it up on top of one of my speakers. It's getting to hard to put the entire tree up by myself (which is over 8 ft tall). My kids laughed at me and said that in the past I have always had the huge tree with all the decorations, this year it was a nice compact tree mainly yorkie decorations... :xmastree1: |

Mine usually comes down the weekend after Christmas, but because it fell on Thursday this year I'm leaving it up til New Year's Day. We bought a "slim tree" this year and it is so much less intrusive that I am really in no hurry to take it down! |
If I leave it up to Patrick ..... never!! :p He always decorates our tree all by himself and it's always gorgeous! Soooo .... when he gets ready to take it down, he will. However .... if it stays up beyond mid-January ..... |
I usually wait until after New Years to take them all down. This year we have friends coming for New Years so I took the big tree down on the 29th. That's the one I had the expen around and I need to use it this week. Still have the nutcrackers & village in the kitchen above the cupboards. And I left the 5' spiral tree up in the frontroom. Bubble & Squeak???? What kind of sprouts???Help me out here, please. I've led such a sheltered life. |
Its our tradition... ...as a family we take down ALL the deocration (indoor and outdoor) on New Years Day |
We took ours down Sunday. :( We didn't want to, and we usually wait until after New Years...but hubby actually OFFERED to help me this time and like I was going to pass THAT up! So, we did it :( The trash man will come and pick it up on Saturday....WAHHHHHH! :( I get sooo depressed every year when we take it down. It seems like you just get the thing put up, then you trun around and it's already time to take it down again :( Christmas just comes and goes wayyyy too fast. I hate it :( |
Christmas Grinch Took the tree down on Monday. I felt like a slackard even then, because my daughter had her's down on Dec. 26th. I'm becoming a Christmas "Grinch"....I hate putting it up and I hate taking it down. I do like to sit in the room with just the Christmas tree lights on. It's sooooo soothing! |
We take down the live tree a few days after Christmas, cause it's dying and that creates messes and broken ornaments when the branches break! :( So that came down yesterday. But my Charlie Brown tree in my room...well....that may still be waiting to come down next Christmas. :p I just LOVE that thing! It took me til the middle of January to say goodbye to it last year! |
we will probably take ours down new year day or the day after! ;) i love Christmas.. and it's so sad because it seriously FLEW by this year! |
Up in the north it's COLD!! so the other day it got up to 50:D so I got all the outside lights done!! (thank god, now it's cold and snowing again) And most of the inside is done but the tree, that comes down this weekend. If I put all the gifts away Christmas day the tree mess doesn't get to me. Happy New Year to everyone :martini::xmastree1: |
Awwww..... I would like to keep our's up till the 6th (Three Kings Day). :xmastree1: It took a long time to decorate everything, so I'm going to try to keep it up for as long as I can.:D (shhhh....my Mother in law has had her's up for the last 2 years in a row) I think I'll offer to help her put it away this year. ;) |
