Does this warrant a paypal dispute? 4 Attachment(s) I won an ebay auction for a Graco baby jumper...like a johnny jump up. I was getting it for my granddaughter. The description said, "Good used condition." I got it today and it is filthy! I have never seen anything as filthy. Wouldn't good used condition mean that it is usable as is? I only paid $8.50 for it and $12 shipping, so it's not a huge amount, but I am so totally disgusted! I messaged the seller and told them it was filthy and I want my money back, and that if they want the thing back, they can pay the postage. I also told them if they don't want to do that, I'll file a paypal dispute. I've never done that before...is it a lot of headache or what...and would they agree that being filthy isn't a part of "good used condition?" I took some pictures...have a look... |
4 Attachment(s) more pictures...these pictures don't look as bad as it does in real life! |
I have never used Pay pal or Ebay for that matter, so I have no idea if it would be a hard process to file a dispute , but yeah , I agree with you that "Good used condition" is not an accurate description ...eeewwww |
Did you check the Seller's rating before you bid? Does she offer a return policy? I've only bought a couple of used items on Ebay and made sure the Seller had a 100% rating. I also made sure the item was described as "excellent". "Good" to me is only average condition. When something is sold as used, I think it might be hard to dispute the condition. I suspect leaving negative feedback would be your only recourse. |
I have to agree......ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww |
"Good used condition" would not be the description I would have used. Were there pictures of the item in the listing, especially of the soiled areas? I would think an item should be clean to be represented as something in "good condition". Has the seller responded? If not, I would file the dispute. |
There was a picture, but it did not show the filth. Even on some I took, I couldn't see what I see here. They have not responded to me and I think tomorrow I'll go ahead and file a dispute. Can't hurt to give it a try. In the meantime, the filthy thing is out in the garage and will sit there until I see what this dispute does. I could try to take the thing apart...which looks like a lot of time...and wash the seat part in the washer, but all the hardware is dirty too and I don't know how I'd clean that. It just isn't worth the effort! |
Hi Connie, I am so sorry. That is awful, Hope the person will make it right for you. Can you leave feedback on ebay? I don't know anything about pay pal. I couldn't get all the pictures to load for viewing....... this dial up is no where :( Keep warm in that weather up there, Brrrrrrrrr and we think it is cold here. Hugs, Patti and Jack and Girls |
Ebay has a dispute resolution center. I'd start there. |
It really does look horrible. You can try dispute. I received good results from it. After contacting the seller numerous times without an answer I filed a dispute and you have to wait till the person either says something refund etc. If they do not answer you will receive your money back and the seller will be penalized. The seller I used refunded me the shipping which was more than the carrier. I guess she didn't want to lose her account but she ended up losing it anyway after doing others how she did me. The item I had brought was new. I have not brought anything used on their yet. |
I am an ebay master :) (kinda just kidding) I think you might want to keep it. Disputes are a pain in the rear and you will have to send it back if the seller even accepts returns. I would definitely let them know that you aren't very happy with the purchase and work with them to where you both are happy. Im sure the seller would rather work with you than to get a dispute or negative feedback. |
I don't know anything about Ebay and disputing, but I just had to comment on that! That is disgusting and even if they weren't using it for who knows how long, why would someone want something dirty like that sitting around? Atleast clean it! Sometimes it amazes me how dirty people can be. I hope somethings able to be worked out for you! |

I get alot on Ebay 3 cars, 1 cammper, and a boat,(that is just the big stuff) Please give them a negative feedback, but you may still try to work with the seller, did they get back to you? If not try to get your money back from paypal. I can't belive they even sold something that bad. It should have gone in the trash. Good luck.:) |
I've gone through a paypal disbute before. It was actually easy for me. I would message ebay first and let them know about the product. Go to your paypal and file a dispute. Paypal acts as a go between for you and the seller. But def message ebay so that they become aware of the type of things that the seller is selling. When you do a dispute through paypal it is a series of emails and such but paypal and ebay both will take you through it step by step. I had won an item and paid for it and then waited for weeks to get it and never did so I emailed ebay and paypal and after I did that I received the box within a week. |

I think that the description was wrong. That looks as though its been left outside or in someones garage and then just shipped without any cleaning whatsoever. Disputes are a pain, but its up to you if you think its really worth the hassle. I'm not a fighter, but my MIL would be on a mission if she'd received that. The seller would be in TROUBLE:rolleyes: |

If the seller values her rating and reputation, she may work something out with you. |

You should definitely file. Saying good used condition is not what you got. That is a hot mess that should be directed right to the garbage. What did they use that thing right down to the minute they shipped it. They could have wiped it down a least. |
Well...it is nasty, however, I'd consider that "good" condition. Usually the description for used items are listed as poor, fair, good, excellent. While you may not consider it in good condition...it's a matter of opinion. The item itself appears to be in good "working" condition...it's not broken. I personally never sold anything that the condition was questionable. If it isn't excellent...I won't list it. You can file a dispute, but you will be responsible for returning the item if the seller requests it...at your expense. Your seller will have 10 days to respond before paypal sends it to resolution. So be prepared to wait. Sellers can no longer leave negative feedback. |

Its dirty, but its still good used condition. It does come down to a matter of opinion. |
I would try cleaning it, either outside with a hose, or soak it in the tub, and use a brush. The plastic parts can be cleaned with "magic eraser." I would also leave negative feedback. |

I know from house hunting over the years that a house described as in "good condition" is usually filthy inside. |
Connie, I am so very sorry for the headache you are having this this ebay "win". Sometimes when you win, you lose :D :D :D If it were me, I would give the ebayer 3 days to respond to your email - with the holidays who knows if they are on line. If they don't respond then I would file a dispute. Especially if this person has a good rating, they will want to settle it quickly and quietly. In all of my dealings with ebay I have only had one really bad purchase. The individual advertised "silk" and what I received was some cheap "silky" lining material. I contacted the person and he was rude and almost threatening. So I filed a complaint. Within hours he had refunded my total purchase and shipping -- I did send the item back to him at my cost, but it didn't cost nearly as much as the baby jumper will cost to ship. Good luck and keep us posted! |
It is filthy, that's for sure. I think I would just soak the thing in hot soapy water and scrub it and hang it up to dry. That might be less "trouble" than to dispute it. I would still leave a negative feedback. My grandson has one of those jumpers and he goes crazy in it. It's his favorite thing! Hope everything works out for you. |

My opinion for what it's worth... for $20 bucks I would just clean it up best you can. If it's still too icky toss it and find a consignment store to get a new one. I would post a negative post about the condition of the item you received. Personally I would never ever in my life have sent that or sold that to someone. I would have been mortified to send someone something so nasty. Can you imagine .....nevermind... So sorry, unfortunately it's the risk we all face when shopping online. :( Sad that people do that. |
yeahhh dispute I don\'t think u should give em\' a war but definitely see if the seller is willing to return half the money or something. I would make sure you rate him and comment on his site. Grosss! selling dirty baby items, that is just disgusting  |
Today I went to ebay to file a dispute, and from there, was sent to Paypal. I guess since I paid with Paypal, I was to use their resolution center and then if that didn\'t work, I would go through Ebay. Well, guess what...an hour or two later, I got an email from Paypal saying the dispute is now closed as the seller agreed to a refund and he paid it already...including shippiing. I wasn\'t told to mail the thing back to him, so I\'ll just leave it in the garage a few days and then put it out with the garbage. I didn\'t really expect a refund...I mainly wanted to give that seller something to think about...but I\'m tickled I got my money back! Thanks to all for your helpful response! |
