Awhile back, I had considered becoming vegetarian but I wasn't going to give up dairy and eggs. After watching those videos, there's no way I could continue to consume dairy and eggs knowing what I know. :( Cheese is my biggest weakness ever. I looooove blue cheese, feta, gouda, etc... I better stop b/c I'm going to drive myself nuts. I guess I will get my protein from whole grains, lentils, beans, nuts, seeds, even veggies contain some protein. The recommended percentage of energy(calories) that should come from protein is between 12-20% of total energy intake. Non-athletic adults should eat 0.8 grams of protein per kg of body weight...Most people eat double that without trying. |

I would have a major weakness there (especially feta). I guess I never really thought about things like whole grains providing that much protein but I'm probably just so used to eating meat, I never stopped to think about it... |

I'm starting to think that getting enough is over-emphasized. |

Thanks for starting this thread and another thanks to everyone that posted recipes. Can't wait to try them. :D |
Possible dessert choice I've been a vegetarian for 11 years now and never went vegan. I knew it was just too hard for me at least to do and way to expensive...hehe. I do have a friend that is vegan and I make him these donuts a lot. They are amazing. I don't have a donut pan so I make them in muffin pans with the wrapper because they stick pretty bad. Let me know if the link doesn't work. VeganYumYum » Mini Donut Test Kitchen |

I decided to go vegan b/c of the miserable lives that those poor cows and chickens lead.. :( |
There are also some cheese substitutes made from soy/rice milk, and and work well in cooking, too. I don't really like cheese, so that isn't really tough for me....I'm sure they won't sub for gouda, etc. However, by now, they may have a good sub for that as well, I don't know, since I don't look for cheeses:) |
