First I just have to say, I think your Nicholas is gorgeous!! I love biewers and parti yorkies, I think they are all so beautiful and I can't wait until I get one of my own. And I absolutely love threads with pictures of biewers, parties, I just love looking at them, lol. I do think like most forums, YT has a clique. You will notice that some members on here will always have tons of replies whenever they post a thread. But I don't think it is always the case. Many times a thread just gets overlooked as there are so many people here and so many new threads created each day. I know it can be frustrating though at times. I have been here for over two years, have a good number of posts, and always try to respond to as many as I can but I myself don't get many replies in my threads. |
Sooooooooooo cute!!!!!!! :D:D:D |
I think, like others have said, it's easy for threads to get lost....I often start a thread and then cant find it again! Although I think its because I tend to post in the morning....and everyone in the USA is still asleep coz of the time difference! Also, I read alot more threads than I post on, for example I dont tend to reply to many of the threads asking for advice because I dont have alot of experience with yorkies yet so my advice probably wouldnt be the best! Nicholas is gorgeous btw! I've never seen a parti or biewer in 'real life' so I always love to see pics of them on YT xxx xxx |
Awww, I know how you feel. I used to feel that way, but I agree with the others that said timing is one thing and the fact that threads get pushed back so fast that they get missed. I don't get much time on here and I tend to just glance at the first page so I miss many posts. If I had caught yours I would have commented because I think Nicholas is absolutely beautiful! OOPS - I mean handsome;). His coloring is gorgeous. Now I want to go get one just like him for my own:). I used to welcome newcomers, but I rarely get the chance to do that. So, welcome to YT, and I look forward to more pics of your precious baby. |
You have a beautiful pooch...one thing I have noticed, is that if I don't click the "refresh" button, I don't always see all of the posts. You may want to try this just to make sure you are viewing all there is to see. |
I always feel guilty when I read posts like this because I get lots of replies to my photos. Am I a clique leader or a shameless overpromoter? Well, yes, but that's beside the point ;) I don't buy the argument that there's discrimination. I think it all comes down to familiarity. Here are some numbers to illustrate my point. This uses you and me as an example. And don't take this the wrong way. I LOVE your pictures and your pup, and I love your thoughtful and informative posts. Join date: You: April 2005 Me: June 2005 Total posts: You: 678 Me: 10,822 Number of threads submitted on the My Yorkie pictures forum You: 18 Me: 230 Number of replies on our most recent 18 My Yorkie pictures threads: You: 272 (Average of 15 replies per post) Me: 604 (Average of 33) Now here's where it gets interesting. Number of replies on our first 18 My Yorkie pictures forum You 272 (Average of 15 replies per post) Me: 321 (Average of 17 replies per post) It took me a long time to become familiar around here. When you look at your first 18 picture posts and my first 18 picture posts, our numbers are almost identical. And, believe me, I felt the same way you do. I wondered if anybody noticed me. Back in those days, it was red98vette who got all the replies. I'm STILL jealous of her :p Interestingly, it's not just a YT thing. I'm a casual member of another dog forum where I have 1,300 posts since April 2006. In my last 18 picture posts there, I have 293 replies, or about 16 per post, which is almost identical to your current totals and my original 18 posts. It's because I'm not as familiar around there. I'm not saying it's right or fair, but I'm just saying it's a fact of life on forums. People reply to people they are most familiar with. With thousands and thousands of members, you almost have to be selective. Plus I've been a more familiar voice on YT in the equal time we've been here. Toss in the fact that I'm one of only a handful of guys and I live in Alaska (where we can see Russia ;) ), and it's understandable that my picture posts would get more than yours. So my message: Don't be discouraged or feel like you're being snubbed. Just keep posting pictures. At the very least, you're creating an online record of your dogs' lives that you and others can enjoy and revisit for as long as YT is around. |

I remember those Villette days that Mike mentioned - when it was such an HONOR (and it still is) for Villette to respond to one of your threads or posts. And now AlaskaYorkie, is right up there with Villette.(Mike, I know you like the attention :D). I found it to be the same in real life. The first 10 years I was married I moved 10 times 3 of those were 1/2 way across the country away from all family and friends. I found that neighbors made the initial effort to welcome Ronald and me into the new communities we lived in, but Ronald and I had to make a double effort to become a part of those communities. I am going to go look at your pics, I am sure that I will love your babies..... I love them all AND I just read something about a Llama and I've always been curious about them. SO..... I'm off ..... |
:goodpost: Excellent post, Mike and Cindy. I agree totally. I have been a member for a while but was never a very active poster. I posted pics here and there. I read a ton though and did a GE, submitted a photo for the first Calendar (Mayzie is on Oct):D etc. etc. etc. I never felt well known, but I felt that I knew others. If that makes sense. That's because I didn't post much but read alot. Then life kind of got in my way and I fell away from the board. I would check in every once in a while when I got the "We miss you YT message". I recently checked in to find the next meet up in VA and I am soooo going! I am also on the verge of making 500 posts! Wahooooo (it only took me FOREVER!) I even have a few friends on my friends list. I recently learned how to post pixs from a mac so I suspect you all will be seeing more of my babies in the future. To the OP: This was a very long winded way of saying, I understand what you are saying because I have felt that way too at times. Sometimes in the past I felt like yelling "Yoohooo, I'm here too" and then I realized, you all didn't know me as well as I knew you. I'm done now. |

Aw, Cindy, what a nice thing to say! I can't wait to meet you either. I think you are amazing with all you do! |
Oh! I think your Nicholas is beautiful. I wasn't always so active on YT, now I guess I have more time...so I've become more active. Perhaps I missed your posting pics of Nicholas. I don't get alot of replies on mine when I put pictures either, maybe cuz so many new ones appear right after. .. but sometimes if I come up with a snappy Title to the post, then I get more hits. Go figure. Anyhow...no matter ... your Nicholas is gorgeous! |
