I am looking into getting this phone: Blackberry Pearl in Pink

I currently have an iPhone and LOVE it..but HATE AT&T with a passion. I have a great phone but have a hard time making and receiving phone calls because the service here is terrible!!!!!!!!! I had verizon in the past and LOVED them, so I am going back. I have been spoiled by my iphone with all that it can do, so I want something that will still allow me to do a lot of those things. I know there are a TON of differences and I will not be able to do ALL of the things I can on my iPhone, but I think this sounds like it will hold me over :)

Does anyone have this phone...and what do you think about it?????

My dtr has it in red and likes it. She gets her email and go on the internet on it.

I have the pink pearl, and I like it. If they had the pink curve out when I got mine, I probably would have got that since it has the full QWERTY keyboard. My only problem with the pearl is the keyboard, but other than that its great! However, if you like the iphone so much, you should probably get the new blackberry storm as it has a touch screen. Hope that helped!

Have you updated your iPhone? My husband ran some updates on mine and it works MUCH better now. AT&T is good here though. I know it's spotty in other places and that makes a difference.

I have the Pearl in Titanium (Silver). I love it. It probably doesn't have the same ease of use that you're used to with a touchscreen, but it gets the job done. I check YT, Facebook, MySpace and get my email. I've also downloaded Google Maps for directions. If you do decide to get it, Crackberry.com is a great site for advice.

My work phone is a blackberry 8830 through US Cellular. I love it as a phone and it is a necessary tool for my emails.

My personal cell is through Verizon.

I think we are fortunate here in the Heartland with cell service.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO... don't ditch your iPhone! Haha, sorry, I'm a huge iPhone fan. I was one of the nerds who stood in line to buy it on the day it was released (even though I had the old one).

But if you MUST ditch the iPhone, I think Blackberry is the only way to go. HOWEVER, you might wanna tough it out with AT&T for a little while and wait for the Blackberry Storm which should come out in about a month. It is a touch screen phone like the iPhone and will be an awesome phone (but I'll never join the dark side, haha).

Wait it out for the Blackberry Storm. Thats what I'm doing! I can't wait. Its for me to get a big girl phone. I'm just worried about the price tag!!!

you are so funny :) I am not completely ditching the iphone, I just won't be using it as my primary phone. I absolutely love it and every time I use it, I think "I am really going to miss this phone!!!!" But Im seriously not able to handle AT&T any more.

I have thought about the storm...but I'm not sure I am wanting another phone that is all touch screen. Sometimes I miss having buttons. And, it looks like it is one of the bigger, bulky blackberry's and I don't like that either. So we'll see.

btw...I stood in line for the original iphone....it was so much fun :D

I have the pearl in red and love it. I also love how it stays in a standby mode so that turning it on is quick in case your in a hurry. I never did like waiting for the other cell phones to come on.

I have a Pearl. Like another said, I'm not real crazy about the keyboard - I text quite a bit though and have gotten used to it somewhat. However, I wish I would've gotten the Curve.

Im so glad I came across this .Ive been trying to decide what phone to get and woried the keyboard on the pearl would bug me. BUT I like the idea that the new pearl is a flip phone. So its the curve, pearl or G1(t mobiles touch screen). I only have 4 more weeks to decide.:D

I have the blackberry curve! It is the best phone I have ever had, my mom has the I phone and I like my phone more. The keyboard is nice for texting and writing e-mails. It has some cool applications. If I were you I would spend a little extra for the curve it's not much bigger and it has a full keyboard.

The curve isn't too bulky its actually a normal phone size.

There is a reason that they call it the crackberry! :p They are addicting :D

My daughter has that exact phone & loves it! She just switched from AT&T to Verizon.

Congrats!! What a beautiful little one!! I have not been on for a while.....

They are SO addicting... I will most likely never have a different "brand" of cell phone.

see, when I looked at them. I thought they were kinda big. I want something a little slimmer. I am anxious to see the new blackberry that is coming out, it is hard to tell the size of it. But honestly, I kinda think I want to get away from the touch screen. I do miss having real buttons, but that is just me.

I am supposed to go today and pick up the pink pearl. They did tell me I have 30 days to try it out and if I don't like it, I can exchange it. Maybe by then, if I don't like it...or like the new one better, I can trade it in ;) I'm just excited to get away from AT&T!!!!

oh...I meant to ask...what kind of applications does this phone have? or does the pearl not have any?? one thing I love on my iphone is my myspace and facebook applications. I will miss those ;)

I have the blackberry curve! I don't if they are very much alike.....but I absolutely LOVEEEEEEE mine! It has to be the most reliable phone I have ever had! I hope that helps!

I just did a comparison of the blackberry vs other verizon phones and in my opinion it seems to be lacking in a lot of areas that other phones have. Do a comparison on the Verizon site with some of the other phones you might like.

I don't know why it'd be lacking. They're very good reliable phones compared to all of the others out on the market these days. I've had many different brands and kinds of phones and the BlackBerry is by far the best in every aspect.

this is a very good thread....my dd had her phone stolen at school a few weeks ago.....sigh.....so, we will have to be replacing it soon!

Would someone tell me their monthly phone bill for the Curve..and the pros and cons you have noticed about the phone.

Anyone really checking into the new Storm?

Anyone check into the walkman (I think that is what it is called)...I am not sure what company has that one....

It has many different applications you can get. Right now I have MSN, AIM, and Yahoo messenger, I also have the facebook application which is pretty neat. There are lots of applications that you can get. My mom has the Iphone and the Iphone is larger than my blackberry, the other blackberry is more bulky but the curve isn't too bulky. I actually have att and I have never had any problems but I guess it might just be the area. When I want to check my myspace I just log onto the internet and go to myspace mobile and it loads very quick. There will probably be an application coming out soon.

Question:

Do the Blackberrys have good reception??? I seem to only get reception in my house with Motorola phones.

Also - does Verizon MAKE you get an extra plan? With my Moto Q I didn't get a data plan - just a pay as your go (I never go online) and I bought a texting package.

blackberry is not moto, it's made by a company called RIM... i dunno about verizon i know att you need the data plan to get the price that's posted and the services and stuff

Yes. You need the blackberry plan through att I don't know about verizon. Honestly I have no problems with reception at all, sometimes other phones won't have reception and mine will. Of course there are always certain places that you get no reception, but no one does so it is normal. :) Good luck finding a phone!
