Anyone here have an ORECK vaccum? I'm thinking about getting an Oreck vaccum. My sister has one and I borrowed it after I hadn't vaccumed for an entire month (yes, it's embarrassing). The Oreck was like a dream come true. So light, so powerful. And I love that it has a bag vs. a cannister, which I have now. I feel like my house gets dirty again every time I empty the cannister. And I have so much dog hair in my house I end up having to empty the canister so many times while vaccuming that it ends up taking me FOREVER to vaccum my house. I put a new bag on my sister's Oreck when I borrowed it and I only used a fraction (less than 1/4) of the bag. Anyone here have one?? I want to get reviews from others before I spend a bunch of money on one. |
Not sure if you want to hear about all vaccums.. I just got the Dyson Animal...OMG...I love it. Yes I have to go outside to empty the canister every room...but that is because it is picking up so much stuff.....Compare the amount that the two vaccums picked up...was it the same.. I got a deal on the Dyson..300 for the DC animal 17. A friend got us a discount. I have had it 2 weeks and it is amazing.. |

But the reason you are emptying it so much is because it is picking up so much more!! |
I have a regular kenmore & this thing is awesome!! I've gotten on the floor with a flash light a magnifying glass & there was No Hair Left over I've used it for 2 months now & have only changed the bag once. It holds alot & Doesn't seem to loose suction at all. It's like this one Kenmore Progressive Upright Vacuum with Inteli-Clean System, Slate Blue - Model 35922 at Sears.com BUt ALOOOOOT Cheaper lol |

Also, I went to the Oreck store to check it out. They dumped a whole box of dog and cat hair on the carpet and rubbed it in. Then they vaccumed it with a Dyson Animal cannister vaccum and then with the Oreck. It was amazing how much the Oreck got up after the Dyon. I asked the guy at the Oreck store about the bag and why it doesn't fill the bag up when my canister is filled up dozens of times while vaccuming my house, and he said it's because the Oreck condenses the fur in the bag. He dumped the hair out of the bag and indeed it was condensed and very compact. |
too many to mention I have an electrolux, kirby diamond edition, to dyson etc. I think they are all fine when they are new then they seem to loose their potential. I am torn. Please let me know how you like the Oreck that is one I have never bought. |

I got an Oreck last year around the holidays...... and I really like it. It does the job, is lightweight and also easy on my bad back. I DO use my Rainbow on occasion, I really think that it does a better job, but not near as user friendly. |

I had an Oreck before I got my Dyson Animal. I suspected it was not picking up as it should, it was only a year old, nothing wrong with it. The first time I vac'd my living room with the Dyson, I had to empty the canister twice because of all the hair etc. the Oreck left behind. I would not recommend an Oreck to anyone. |

Actually, my mom had an Oreck and I loved it because it did as good a job as any vacuum and was soooo lightweight. I loved that. But I solved my problem by ripping out all the carpet and putting down hardwood! :D That is GREAT!!! |

Glad you posted this, because I have been thinking of the Oreck, we have the Dyson animal, I don't care about the canister eirther, is heavy, and bulky too, I also don't think is worth all that money, but in the other hand hubby love it:rolleyes: every time he vacuum he ask me: so you think is not worth the money:rolleyes:because he thinks that pick lots of stuff, I also had a kirby and is so freaking heavy, din't care ether, my mother in law have one and she love it:rolleyes: |
We have an Oreck and I LOVE it!! We will never have any other brand again!! It is so easy to use and light weight and picks up so much. Plus every time I use it, it leaves the room smelling so fresh!! I hate canister vacuums and will stick with ones with bags, it feels so much cleaner!! My mom's ex husband has an Oreck as well and has a German Shepherd/Husky mix that stays inside. This dog sheds like you wouldn't believe!! The carpet is just covered in hair. You get the Oreck out and it picks it all up. I keep saying he needs to record it and send it in to them as it would be perfect to use for a commercial as it really shows how much it does pick up. |
I have an Oreck and love it! Its SO light weight. I'll never go back to a bagless vacuum again... bags in my opinion are so much easier. Oh, and the Oreck even comes in pink. :) |

I have one, my Mom bought my siser and I one 2 years ago. It is really lightweight but I have 4 dogs and us humans all have longer hair and It does a fair job of getting hair up not great. |
Thank you so much for the input everyone! I'm pretty sure I'm going to get one. And I want a PINK one too!!!!! I don't have any carpet in my house....just hardwoods and rugs. The Oreck did more than an adequate job of getting up all the hair. It did a WAAAAAAAAY better job than the bagless vacuum I have now. I don't think I need to spend $200 MORE than I would on an Oreck on a Dyson when I hate bagless and when it may only pick up a fraction more hair. I may feel differently if I had plush carpets, but for right now, the Oreck should work for me. Thanks again! |
Oh Definitely! I'd go with the Oreck if you don't have carpet - it will do just fine and the lightweight will save your back!!! |
We have an Orek- the one for allergies I think. We also have a lab and a golden retriever (hair, anyone??) and this vacuum is AWESOME!! The canister vacs are really bad for allergies because they are not airtight, but the Oreck vaccum with the hepaseal bag or whatever prevents allergens from going back into the air... IMHO.. |
Hm... this thread is really interesting. I have horrid allergies. I'm very young and just moved out on my own around a year ago. My boyfriend and I bought all of our stuff for our apartment on a whim. I got a Bissel vacuum with the canister and I hate it... HATE IT! We now live in a crappy rental house and I believe it picks up more carpet in the living room than anything else . I want something new but I feel like since I've only had it a year it's like ?!?! It just seems like it has no suction what so ever and if you have the brushes lowered, they won't spin like they're supposed to - they only spin when it's on the highest setting, therefore I feel like it isn't picking up anything. I want a bag vacuum now  |
I have an ORECK at home in Alabama and a newer one here in Colorado. I love them!! I bought the first one because after 3 back surgeries, the doctor told me not to vacuum, mop, etc. [I know, that would make most people happy ... but, Patrick just doesn't vacuum to suit me!]. The ORECK is so lightweight, I am not afraid to use it and it does a great job on both my carpet and tiled floors. Let us know what you decide and how you like your selection. ;) |
