California Proposition 2 has me so upset & sad I just saw the commercial. How can they show something so graphic and disturbing like that. I wish I had never seen it, but now I realize by showing what they did, people will be upset like me and vote for this. UGH, I only wish I could get that image out of my head :( Has anyone else seen this? I hope you vote yes on it!!!! This upcoming election is more than just picking a new president, its challenging us to fix problems that get swept under the rug..Prop 8 is another big decision on the right to have gay marriage or not. Is California the only state contemplating this law? |
In MI Prop 2 is the stem cell debate. I had to look up CA prop 2. I didnt see the whole proposal, but I do believe animals should be allowed to move around and not stay so confined. From the summery that I read on it, I would vote yes as well. My prop 2 however, will be getting a big fat no. |
We're not gettting the commercials here in FL of course but I know the HSUS is doing a donation drive to raise $200,000 to air a prop 2 commercial during Desperate Housewives. Here is a cute commercial for yes on prop 2 YES! on Prop 2 | Uncaged. |
So does everyone have the same Prop 2 except me? |

Florida's prop 2 is actually sort of concerning that. It is basically proposing that marriage be defined as a legal union between 1 man and 1 woman and no other unions be recognized or protected. It's written to be very confusing (surprise!) because what it also does is eliminates protections and benefits for all unmarried partners, gay or straight. It also takes away family protections, health care insurance, hospital visitation and authority to make medical decisions for all unmarried couples. It permanently bans civil unions and domestic partner benefits. It is a bad bill regarless of your sexual orientation or beliefs regarding gay marriage. I'll be voting a big NO on our prop 2. |

I was wondering if any other states are debating over gay marriage? That is a big one here! |

I haven't studied CA's prop 8 (since I can't vote on it anyway:p) but my understanding of it is it's eliminating the state's constitutional right for same sex marriage. Same sex couples would have no legal rights for themselves or their families. Sounds like a step backward. I would vote no if I could but I know it's pretty controversial and personal issue. eta- oops, sorry Indanagirl I meant to quote you. This was to your post a few up. |

The thing that is so hard with some of these props is could hurt both sides. The prop 2 is a no brainer for me. There is no hurting a farmer or industry to be more humane to their livestock. But prop 8 has two sides that are being effected and its something I will give more thought too. |

Here in Va it's already been decided...no on same sex marriages. Were I gay....I would give my partner durable power of attorney which would eliminate any issue over any medical care decision or legal issue that may arise. I am not saying I'm against it...I'm just explaining a way around the roadblocks. |

Ours was never put to public vote. The bill was introduced and passed directly. |

Wow! Our prop will take a 60% public vote to pass. |

It would've never passed as amendment either. |

I know it will be overturned here. Right now its legal, but I know Prop 8 will pass. What happens to those already married? |

Hope I don't get struck for that comment...actually I don't care who takes credit for any storm missing us....thank God they did. |

Legislation that isn't put to public vote comes up all the time. The sole way to dispute them...is to contact our state legislators. Indie...I guess those people would be un-married. My understanding is the marriages aren't valid in all states. You get married say....in CA but it wouldn't be valid here in Va. |

I also hear he has full on conversations with God (in which God tells him all kinds of interesting things). Wasn't he the one who said Ellen hosting the Emmys was the cause of Katrina? :p |

Yeah God tells Pat a lotta things...the rest of us are on a need to know basis I guess. Btw, I don't think it was Ellen's sexuality that caused Katrina...may have been her performance though. Wasn't that one considered a real flop? |

We have no proposals I dont believe as of yet concerning gay marriage this election. We had it last election and it did not pass. I voted against it last time and I will continue to. I don't believe CA "un-doing it" it would be a step backwards, I think allowing it is, IMO. We have prop 1 and 2 as far as I have read. I know these are individual to each state  I thought someone had said from another state that theirs was the same as CAs, so I was just commenting on it. We have medicinal marajuana and embryonic stem cell research. We usually have a lot more, so I am wondering if I am just not seeing something? |
