omg!!! nikki,, i love it.. your crazy!!! you look gorgeous.. leave it alone, it will fade a bit..but honesty i just love it... |
Nikki, I actually really, really like it! BUT....I tend to LOOOOOVE really dark hair...it's just my thing. No offense to blondes, but I do not like lighter-colored hair at all. However, me liking it is not the issue...lol...I hope it has since faded a little when you washed it so you're happy!! Never fun to have hair you're not comfortable with...:thumbdown |
I'm a licensed Cosmetologist. Washing your hair today won't make it fade, unless you use a harsh shampoo on it. I used the Dawn trick in beauty school after a color job went bad, it did lighten a couple of shades, but dried my hair out terribly. You are probably in shock from the drastic change, give it a couple of days, condition it good and see what you think. |
Nikki, you should leave it....I love it! I think it is a very pretty color!! Tammy |
I just saw the pics I like it . It looks natural. You're just not used to it. It matches your eyebrows and makes your eyes poop...give it a chance..:D |

Thank you everyone!:ghug: I washed it 3 times. It's still wet but I don't think there's any difference. It actually feels... dare I even say it?....DRY! I am not happy at all. I'd rather my hair look bad than feel bad- I'm really OCD about my hair being soft. I am not new to color, I don't even have any idea what my real hair color looks like, and this is not the first time it was colored by this hairdresser. It has NEVER felt dry before. I can't imagine why the color would have dried it out this time. He even did a PM Shine on it after coloring which adds shine and deep conditions. This is crazy! I just ordered a leave in hair treatment that I've read amazing reviews on called Esuchen RD so I'll have that in a few days. I'm going to glop on my Fekkai glossing cream for now and hope for the best. |
I really like the dark hair on you.. My complexion is light like yours and I have very dark hair (almost black) which is my natural color. To be honest I think the dark color brings out your eye color....and don't take this offensive because I really do not know how old you are. The darker color makes you look younger...:D:D |
:D STOP.....HOLD IT....Oh crap nevermind saw you already washed. :p :p Nikki I like it...I really do. I think it looks good but you know me I have always wanted to go dark so I am a sucker for dark hair. Honestly you are so beautiful I think anything looks good on you. Really I think you should just wear it for a few days and see if it grows on you and then if you still hate it go get it changed, I really like it though. You not going to Karen any more? I think you told me you switched but can't remember now. What does Troy and Lauren think? :D |

Caren you are so sweet- I totally love you!:) I did wash it but no change. I'm going to the new salon in downtown called One Love. I've been really happy with everything up until now but it's partly my own fault since I did bring in a picture. Troy and Lauren haven't seen it yet. Lauren will love it because she likes dark hair and hates when I go light. Troy (like most men:rolleyes:) prefers blonds but he'll be sweet and say he likes it but I know he wont. |
BTW, when I washed my hair I washed my makeup off. As you can see from the pitures I posted I don't wear a whole lot. Well with this hair I NEED makeup- BAD! I looked like death with a clean face. I couldn't get the makeup back on fast enough.:p |
Nikki, how about some home remedy tips for the dryness? I heard ....i know it sounds gross...but olive oil or mayonaisse. You lather it all over your hair...put a shower cap over it..and let it sit for a while...its like a home remedy deep conditioning. Dark or light....just remember..we love you either way . ;) |
1 Attachment(s) Okay I just took another one for comparison. I think it maybe lightened a little? Am I delusional? Ignore the fact that it is completely and utterly flat- I paniced when it felt dry and used a ton of product, which my baby fine hair can't handle. eta- Please ignore the messy desk- how embarrassing. You can see the boys eating dinner in the background- they have to eat in here so Gracie doesn't steal their food.:p |
I think you look great! I've been gradually going darker each time I color mine because I know I'd freak out if I did it all at once. You're just not used to it, give it time. You look beautiful!:) |

Oh, wow, girl - it's actually really sexy!!! I mean, you look HOT. You looked hot before, but this is just a different kind of hot. Just a dark-haired beauty instead of lighter! But, I can see why it'd be shocking for you - and if it doesn't *feel* like you, then it's even worse. I know, bc I've been there - I too was once too dark and had to wash w/ Dawn and Prell (or whatever it is) over and over and it was just awful trying to get it lighter :(. I think I finally had someone lighten it bc I couldn't take it anymore... But wow, you can TOTALLY rock the dark hair!!! |

Okay y'all are all the best! I needed this confidence boost before my husband gets home. He won't say anything bad but he won't be able to hide what he's thinking.:D After seeing the last picture I posted I'm off to put on more makeup. The natural look is not working! |
I think it looks lighter in the picture also, if you decide to talk with your stylist I'd seriously question him about the damage involved with chemically lightening it. I know it's a shock for you but it's actually very pretty:) |
I didn't have time to read the whole thread but have you tried johnson's baby shampoo? |

I did that to myself over the weekend! I used a different name brand haircolor and it came out patent leather black! I bought a hair color removal kit - did it - then used my regular hair color. It's still a little dark - but I'm getting used to it now. I used a hot oil treatment after all that to help my hair not look so dry. |

Okay, step back and count to ten. It is a drastic change but I don't think it's bad. It's very different from what you are used to. Like when a woman has long hair and then cuts it very short. For a quick moment panic sets in. My personal opinion is don't panic. I honestly don't think it looks bad. It is dark compared to what you are used to. I think you need to give it a week or two. See how everyone else reacts to it and give yourself time to adjust to the difference. If in about 2 weeks you are still not liking it then you know. Suck it up, go back and have it lightened up some or add highlights into it. Gradually you'll go back to how it was. You don't want to stress your hair out either with too many chemicals. My friend used to touch up her blonde roots. We decided one time to hightlight my hair with the leftovers. Then it turned into going full blonde. Needless to say it turned Tonya Roberts orange/blonde. My husband was like what the **ck did you do to your hair?!!!!! I went and bought a color but it said I had to strip the old color out. Now I had white straw hair. Had to take the kids to swim lessons like this!!! Colored it darker. However, apparently when I washed it it was turning red and redder with every wash. I finally had to have it professionally done. I've never done my own hair since. Give it some time. p.s. I'm pretty sure that no matter what the color.. your hubby wouldn't kick you out of bed. :) |
I WANNA LOOK LIKE NIKKI WHEN I GROW UP OR AT LEAST IN MY NEXT LIFE. :D:p;) |
Nikki, I think you look BEAUTIFUL with your dark hair!! I do think that it is a little lighter and softer looking in the second picture you posted. Give it a day or so, I have a feeling that it's going to start growing on you! :D |
I'm back again! I really think you should leave it alone, it looks really good. You're just going to keep drying it out if you keep washing it. It will fade, believe me. Especially if your hair was a lot lighter to begin with. Oh and men don't know what they're talking about, my boyfriend's the same way and likes my hair lighter than he does darker but oh well, it's so much healthier when it's darker than lighter cus of all the bleach. You look great, we wouldn't lie to you! |
Y'all I am totally blushing and I love, love love you! As expected, my daughter loves it (she's a blond who loves dark hair), my husband said he liked it (although I know darn well he doesn't:p)- he did say he thought himself lucky- he had a blond woman yesterday and a brunette today. Men can be silly right?:p I know he wasn't thrilled with the idea of me going darker though and even I'm shocked at how dark I am so I do appreciate how sweet he's being about it. Okay, lesson learned. I'm leaving it alone for now. I am terrified of damaging it further and I know it will fade. Thanks for talking me through this horrifying experience (even complementing my \'I was assaulted and look terrified\' pictures- man how do y\'all hot mypace girls get those sexy self taken pictures? I clearly freeze like a deer in headlights when I point a camera at myself.:p Y\'all are the best!:yorkietal |
