That's what I meant...hair spray. Accidently said bug spray. Never tried bug spray - it seems too obvious to work on these things. My mom just checked - second one is gone too. I'm really freaking out. |

I made up a bed for you on the sofa Megan... come on over. :) |
OMG Megan I hate those things too. Like NOTHING crudes me out as much as they do |
LOL I would be def. FLIPPING OUT. I always spray buggies with air freshener, seems to make them less aware of their surroundings and what's going on then BAM I smash them with a shoe or wad up about 50 tissues and do it. I always have a fear that whatever bug I'm combating is going to JUMP and attack me or JUMP on my arm and get in my shirt. :( |
Wanna here my centipede story? Great, I'm going to tell you anyway... When I was about 11, I was home alone in the evening before my mom got home. I was laying on my stomach in front of the TV. Out of my peripheral vision I see this dark spot come from one side and in front of me-I look down ,and EEEK!!! I freak out, and realize it's a centipede!!!!! I get a shoe and smack it good a few times, and then get a kleenex (ok, 3!), and pick it up, then run as fast as I can to the bathroom to flush it. (Don't know why, it just makes me feel better-you never know, they MAY come back to life and crawl out of the garbage can!) Anyway so I calm down, and go back to watching TV. Then again I see something moving again, and I look down, and it's a few of the legs I missed when I picked up the body...they were still moving and twitching a few minutes later! EWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! The moral of the story is: IF YOU SMASH ONE OF THOSE UGLY SUCKERS, MAKE SURE YOU PICK UP ALL THE BODY PARTS!!! |

Thank you, Suzy. LOL j/k - that's mad creepy! When I caught the baby one under the cup in the bathroom, a couple of its legs came off and they were twitching. There is no sign of these bugs anywhere. Guys I'm so freaked. haha. |
Meg I have one word for you...actually two words, boric acid, it's sold at Home Depot, even super markets, make sure you pour this dust, behind the fridge, under your sink , inside cabinets, closets."out of reach of household pets" It worked for me Boric Acid Powder |
I'm sitting here reading this and I think I can feel something here and there on my legs. Those are creepy suckers! |

Megangirl!!!! I feel your pain!!! You know first-hand how wooded our yard is... when we first moved here the house hadn't been occupied full-time so we had them, too. And lots of spiders to boot! Despite having quarterly visits from Western Pest Control, I would find spiders all over the place. Several different varieties. I only ever found those other creepy things in the bathroom, so they must be attracted to water. Totally freaked me out!!!! So... I bought a bunch of plastic fly swatters and kept them handy in the halls (spiders seemed to like dark places) and bathrooms where I would usually see the critters and spiders. The swatters have long handles so you don't have to get too close, and since they don't move as fast as a fly I could usually get the buggers. Then I would catch them up in a paper towel and throw them in the garbage while saying an 'I'm sorry but we just can't live together' prayer to the Karmic Gods. Thank goodness they are long-gone now. In the spring I sometimes see a spider or two, but I feel better knowing that I'm bigger than them... and I have the swatter!!! Hopefully with cold weather coming you won't have to worry about them. May the Force be with you! HUGS |
Oh I totally should get a big long fly swatter. But I'll have to be leaving the pieces around for my padre to pick up cause I won't even go near them when they're dead. :p Still no sign of my bathroom buddies. EEK! I'm so freaked out haha. I went to the kitchen to get a snack. Have to walk past one of the bathrooms (the one that usually has them in the bathtub) to get to the kitchen, and right off the kitchen is my parents' room, which is where the bathroom is that houses the current residents. I was doing the yorkie shuffel the whole time...except I was looking for bugs. :p Sherry lynn!! Girl!! Hi! I don't think my email to you sent. We should meet up some time. :) |
Yuck! I hate strange bugs that you can't get rid of. We have those little earwigs in our house all of the time and I hate those things! They like to get in the clothes hamper. Then they get on you and pinch and it HURTS! It makes me feel like my house is dirty, even though I know it's not. |

The clothes hamper! Well that should make Megan feel so much better, Bama. |
Meggers, they are CENTIPEDES!! We get them in the summer but thank god not in the winter. They like damp places like bathrooms, bath tubs and sinks. They are disgusting!!! I make Jim kill them and if he isn't home, I scream and cry and them put a glass or bowl over them until he gets home and can kill them. They are SMART and will chase after you (I know this from personal experience lolol) and they are freakin FAST FAST FAST!! So move quickly and put something over them before they run away!! Here ya go (LOLOLOL!) ... http://cordially.narod.ru/album/inse...-centipede.jpg |

Oh and Meggers, don't spray them w/ raid or hairspray because one, it doesn't work lol and two, it just PROVOKES them, pisses them off and makes them chase you like demonic little bugs!!! |
