Ouch, that looks like that hurt! You got good advice, hoping it heals without too much scarring. |
Jodi how is your son? What did the Dr say? What a handsome young man! |
I started using some stuff from Avon called "Anew" on my daughter's scar a few weeks ago and boy has it worked. It's actually for stretch marks, but I read a bunch of reviews where people used it for scars and liked the results, so I figured, what's it going to hurt? Used Mederma for a while, but I really can't say for sure if it was working, or if it was just the wound healing as it naturally would have anyway. But it definately got to a point where nothing much was happening, so I swapped the new stuff and can really see improvment. My daughter's plastic surgeon said that the most important thing to do to minimize scarring was to avoid sun exposure at all times! :( All 3 surgeons we've consulted agreed--said the sun could 'tattoo' a fresh scar to a purple/bluish color that no surgery or revision could reverse. (Didn't know until then that they even made SPF 85! Wow!) She also has to have tissue massage therapy every day to re-align the collogen and make sure that it heals evenly--not indented or raised. (So basically, pressured circular motion for 15 min a day.) Hopefully for your son it will turn out to be more nasty road rash than anything and you won't be able to tell. Hope you son (and you!) are better soon.:) |

Some Insurances cover the cost... so long as it is written as a prescription... But you have to be one of those lucky employees... I am not one of them.. (federal employee here.. :( ) Quote:

Whatever works though when it's your child, you know? Be it $23 or $2300... Heck, I don't need BOTH of my kidneys...I'm sure I could manage to sell one on the black market or ebay or something... |
LOL you can sell anything online these days.. be it ebay or even craigslist...:D Quote:

We're home from the doc. He had a bit of a traumatic time there due to a wierd allergic reaction to some numbing medicine?? and then possibly he had a panic attack?? I don't know:confused:..but everything is ok now. They did a cat scan too. Everything's good. Thank you for the concern and comments!! |

I would wait till is heal. and take him to a dermatologist for the scar, if any. My nephews are going to be fifteen this weekend, and they both had accidents ; only one of them had a little scar left on the ayebrow. That scar was corrected in-office op |

Well, he'll have a cool story to tell at school. If I were him I throw in something about an alligator or a burning building just for good measure.;) |
