She's your daughter and of course you have such warranted concerns about being alone with the dentist. I am sure when the "heat of the fight" simmers down you and your hubby can discuss your concerns and it will all work out fine. The visit to the dentist for your daughter should be a pleasant one so she doesn't harbor worries and bad memories, so finding a great dentist is so very important for her. |
I don't think your in the wrong at all! Now a days, you can never be too careful. My dentist allows parents in the room with the child, I never heard of that before. I would be looking for a new dentist. |
well i already found another dentist. but like i said before it sounded so wierd that he didnt even allow parents in at all thats even for a 1 year old. thats a bunch of bull and for the mothers and fathers out there who do let a 1 year old in there bythemselves i feel sorry for their children. i have always been afraid of leaving my daughter with daycare or even friends just because i dont trust men. i was always taught to keep my guard up when it comes to my children. my mother was molested when she was a young girl and always made sure the same wouldnt happen to me. it's so dumb because when i wheni went to the dentist they asked if i wanted my husband in the room with me. i know in my heart that i am right and noone is going to change my mind no matter how many fights i get into with my husband. |

I agree with you and would find another dentist that lets you stay in the room. |
Ok I have mixed feelings about this. For those parents who have kids like my Val, who is very much a mommy's girl. The kind of kid that knows mommy will make the dentest stop working if it looks like she is uncomfortable in anyway. The last denest visit she really carried on. So the dentest told me that if she didn't stop he was going to have to ask me to leave so he can finish working on her. I made him stop and called one of the nurses and asked her to call my husband who was waiting in the lobby. With everyone standing there I told the dr. if I can't be there with her then my husband will. And if he had a problem with that, then we will have to take her else where. With my husband there she was a perfact little angel. And didn't fuss at all. And would you know, when she came out of the back she came running to me crying. So sometimes these dentest have to deal with kids like my Val and it's hard to work when the are fussing and crying because their perents are there. On the other hand, I do understand you getting up set with your husband I would be upset if mine just went and picked a dentest and made an appointment without telling me about it. And to have that dentest say no parents allowed. I would wouldn't be too happy especially if the kid was only 4. I would stay clear of dentest told me that! |
I think that if you want to go back there you should be able to! I've been to quite a few dentist and i've never heard of anything like that ! |
