I have a friend. He was in a car accident. A settlement was reached and he recevied monies for the accident.
Fast forward, one year later. He collapses for no apparent reason. After a series of tests, turns out...he suffered a spinal column injury at the base of his neck as a direct result of the accident.
This required surgery to fix the "problem". It ended up costing him thousands of dollars. And there was NOTHING he could do to get compensation from the insurance company (from the accident), because the case was settled.
Had he gotten more money to cover himself as a direct result of the injury,...he could've paid for the emergency surgery. And well....he didn't.
Just to let you know of what COULD happen. Not that you should milk it, but something for you to think about. |
