Avenge carpet cleaner and stain remover is the best I've found and is safe for all types of rugs and carpets.

I have Berber in my bedrooms and I use The Rug Doctor, steam cleaner. I have used it with the rug shampooer and also by hand. It's the only thing I use. It's awsome. It can be purchaed from StopNShop or the A&P. I am sure other's carry this brand but that is where I get it. It's used with hot water which is why it works so well. Have fun

I bought the Avenge at a local carpet cleaning business, but I'm sure it can be found online. (I googled it and found this website - Avenge Carpet Spot and Stain Remover). The Avenge is actually for tough to remove spots, and when I use it with a small carpet shampooer it works like a miracle. You might want to treat any spots with the Avenge, then use something like Rug Doctor all over afterward. It has been especially helpful during house training too. I absolutely abhor carpet! If I could I'd do my entire house in hardwood & tile.
