But she is getting fed and gaining weight and seems to sleep comfortably, so what is the urgency? What would a vet tell her to do that she is not already doing? |
I think she is doing an amazing job i am so impressed with everything she is doing. I wish people would stop being negative and sit back and look at the amazing care this little girl is getting. |
I see no reason why this thread should be closed. Dena may not have experience with a puppy with cleft palate but she is doing everything within her power to help this pup and keep it as comfortable as possible. It is no different for a parent with a skinbaby with birth defects. You meet with numerous doctors so you can make an informed decision and go from there. You are suddenly thrust into the role of "nurse" and you have to learn as you go and do the best job you can. This pup has been to the vet several times and I'm sure is will have good follow-up care. No different than surgery on human...as time goes by the doctor visits become further apart...unless of course there are complications. I'm am sure Dena has been well instructed by her vet as to what those could be and what to look for. Emma was not anesthetized because of her size BUT...she was given local anesthesia. She is being tube fed, which bypasses her cleft palate and lungs, directly into her stomach. After each feeding Dena taps her lungs to help with the prevention of pneumonia. I hope some of this information puts come of your concerns at ease. None of us are walking in Dena's shoes. She has had to make decisions based on the medical information she has received and non of us were in attendance to know all of the facts. Personally, I commend her for this heartwarming effort she has made to help this puppy. There are millions of people in this world with birth defects and they lead happy, satisfying lives. |

Denna, I have only read up to page 44 and watched the my space movie. Your awesome. You are trully an angel. My prayers will definately include you and emma. |
thank you Prayers to Little Emma and Dena from Mia and I... I think you are doing a wonderful job and you have made the right decissions at the time you were making them. You were doing what you needed to do. I commend you for the love and care that you have given "our" little Emma and I thank you personally for letting us watch her on your cam. She has become all of ours and we all love her very much. I had to go back to school this week, but I watch her from my desk as much as I can. Everyday when I log on and I see her growing and thriving, makes me happy... She is so lucky to have you and If I ever get sick, you could definitely be my nurse...:) don't think You'd want to move to Missouri, but I'd love for you to care for me, like you have cared for Emma. Good luck in the days to come and If you need anything , let me know...God be with you and Emma!!!!!!! |
To be honest..it would be nice if Dena would reply to the questions that have been posed and not have people speak for her. The dog has been since twice by the vet...once before surgery and the day of surgery. I do understand while I would seek professional follow up care obviously not everyone agrees. Seems odd in the sick forum...if someone mentions diarrhea...the advice they are given is go to the vet's. This certainly seems a more serious condition. |

Tia still has her cleft and we still have struggles. We had an episode tonight as a matter of fact, scared the poop out of me..but she is fine now. |
My understanding is that Dena was told if the last stitches didn't hold there was nothing they could do. Now that was not her personal vet but the one that replaced the stitches. Dena is using a topical antibiotic on the wound, there is nothing going down into Emma's throat/palate whatever you want to call it. Emma is healing very well and has already scabbed over. She is gaining weight every day and is moving around like crazy and loving to cuddle with her snuggle puppy. She is in no pain or Dena would be doing something about it. Emma will have to heal and have surgery when she is a little older. For now she seems to be just fine with the tube feeding and is being loved to death by Dena and many of us here on YT and all over the world. For Dena's sake it wouldn't bother me any if this thread was closed because she can update us who care elsewhere. She doesn't need to read all these ridiculous accusations. As far as I'm concerned she is doing an amazing job and being extremely selfless in caring for Emma. We love you Emma!!! |
Any update on baby Emma? |

I'm sure if there is any change she will take her to a vet. That might be where she has been all day or maybe she is just getting some much deserved rest. |
Has any one been in contact with Dena? if so and you do not want to post it on here, please PM me. thank you. |
Is the web cam down because all of the negative comments? I really wanted to check in with Emma! She's turning into such a wiggle worm! It's more exciting to watch her everyday!! Come back webcam! |

Antibiotics are being given orally and then a different one is being placed on the wounds OUTSIDE of her mouth. The cleft inside her mouth was 95%fixed after the surgery. Huge improvement. |
Emmmmmmmaaaaaaaaaaa......where are you? haha how is Miss Emma doing tonight? |

I miss getting updates on Emma. How is she doing?? I think Dena is doing what is right for the puppy and I really am interested in her progress. That puppy is a lucky little girl to have Dena. I hate it when all the negativity comes out when someone is really trying to do a good thing. Dena I am thinking about you and Emma alot and hope to see a post from you soon. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!! |

The majority of the people here are adult.....although I do know there are some younger ones on here....and everyone has seen enough in this thread to make their own determination regarding any issue involved here. So, whatever decision is made by them is entirely their choice. Don't you believe this is also true? We are all capable of using our eyes to read and our brains to consider it all. Some of us also have our hearts involved. I consider this to be a good thing. For me, the heart issues are the most important ones human beings ever face in their entire lifetime. While I understand that there are some that would rather dwell on other issues, the fact is that this is about Emma. What I decide to do, in any event, is entirely my decision. It is the same for everyone here. There is extreme evidence that this is a true event that is happening. We are each free to make our own choices about what we will do regarding it all. The images are real. The emergency is real. The expenses are real. I could no more turn away from this that I could an injured child. My love for animals is that extreme. So my choice is to be as supportive as I can possibly be in as many ways as I possibly can. I know that I reside with the majority here. Emma is a little trooper. That she has made it this far lets me know that she wants her life. I am proud of Dena for offering her that opportunity. I watch the animal planet channel. I have many heroes on there. I see them, every night on that show, take an animal that appears to have no chance at all and bring them back to the health they should have enjoyed all along. I recognize heroic endeavors when I see them. The most obvious to me is that they are stubborn and determined to see it through. They give up their creature comforts in order to succeed. I have seen many animals that probably would be dead now if it weren't for efforts of heroic proportions by someone that remained strong, continued the fight and beat the odds. I am on Emma's side here. I think she is with one that will fight for her life. She is in the best place she could be. I will continue to pray for strength for Natalie to continue her best efforts, for I solemnly believe this is what they are. I will continue to pray for little Emma. Sometimes, you just don't know where the next miracle is coming from. They don't just come from expected places. I hope hearts get examined and that Emma's well being get placed where it should be. First. |
