Yeah, well tell that to someone who hasn't had their child attacked by a Lab. :( It's a nice theory.

Like I said, in THIS case, the age of the dog, not the breed is what I find odd. The breed means nothing.

I agree, i had a hard time understanding any of the story, it just does not come to light... a 6 wk old puppy if it got teh baby in a swing would have to just bite the legs,which is NOT the case, or tip the swing over and get the baby and someone would hear the crash of the swing. It's a one level house if I recall correctly, so they had to hear something. My heart just breaks for this baby and for the parents, look how young they were, so much to endure here.

I agree I dont think they were in the next room. Surely the baby made noise and they would have heard him. This is so sad. And their comments about spay and neutering were off the wall

That is devestating. I can't imagine. My prayers are with the parents and family.

But - why was the pup left alone with such a small child in the first place? The parents are at fault here - you don't leave a 2 month old baby alone with 2 dogs!

EDIT: I just saw how young the parents are. Wow. So much to handle at such a young age. I wonder if they still live with one of the grandparents?

It's so sad. That poor puppy, poor baby, and poor parents. It's a really sad situation all around. One that could have been easily prevented.

My kids were put in a swing at about 3 months. They have swings that recline all the way back as if the child was actually laying down.

This is such a tragic story - I agree - there is a lot to this story that doesn't add up. So many questions. Why would police be in such a hurry to euthanize a PUPPY? Was it an effort to calm public outrage?

Several people were in the house including the grandmother, according to the police report. HOW could a child be MAULED to death and not be heard by someone? I DON'T believe for one minute that the little pup killed the child. I am sickened to think what the full investigation will reveal.

Thanks I liked your theory as well! TO ME the breed does mean something. Yes the age is even more puzzling I agree 100%. Many breeds get bad wraps.

For instance...I wonder why the Pug isnt being questioned in this?
Just my theory no big deal. I still say key words in the story are unattended baby.

Hey...breed specific characteristics used to mean something to me too...until my daughter was attacked...not bitten, but attacked...by a Lab she KNEW back in March, then my opinion changed. Funny how that happens. Dogs react in different ways to different situations and it's not always predictable. That is something that is the same, regardless of breed. You can't blame a dog for being a dog. I realize that as a dog person, as a parent, it can be a little harder to grasp when it's your child invovled.

I agree with you though...why was the child left unattended? Why did no one hear this attack? Where were the parents? Too many questions, not enough answers.

Somehow I don't think the entire story is being told here.

My son was attacked by a rottie. Our Rottie so I understand and its devastating. Sorry about your daughter. My son came out ok...7 stiches and 3 large scars. Broke my heart I do not blame the breed but GOOD LORD everyone else did and it crushed me. He was, like you said, being a dog. He bit and yanked and I have NO idea where it would have went I was there tho...3 feet away and dove on the dog and restrained him. He gave up and was not in complete attack mode but I was dominant too...who knows had i not been there. I dont blame rotties tho. I love them.

OKay so we know its not breed related but poor lil lab after seeing video could he do this??? Man my heart breaks. For all.

Whats going on with the pug? He looks bigger than the lab!

I hope this one isnt shoved under a rug and passed off as dog attack. I really dont think thats all to the story.
