I love anything from illuminations, they use to have stores in most malls but they have closed most of them down. You can still get them on the net, my favorites were fresh air and pomegranate. They are a bit pricey but they last long and the scent is strong. |
I was trying to think of these earlier. At bath & body works you can buy Henri Bendel candles. They are GREAT! The scents are unique also. Bath & Body Works - Home & Candles: Henri Bendel |
Has anyone tried the new soy 'Beanswax' candles from Yankee? Yankee Candle: New Beanswax They look so cute! |
All the candles frome Bath & Body Works/ White Candle Barn Co. are great candles. They last a long time and the scents are terrific. |
I love Yankee Candles. Believe it or not, the Martha Stewart candles from Kmart smell really good. I bought a few because they are on clearance here and they are well worth the price. One of them is called something related to Hawaii and it smells amazing and was only $2.50. :) |

These are seriously wonderful candles. The only drawback I have found is that the jars are too large to fit in my candle warmer thingy. So what I do is put them (the jars) in water on the stove to melt the wax and pour them into containers that will fit. I love these candles so much I am willing to do all that so I can put them in my warmer. I do still burn the wicks, too. But in the warmer I don't have to worry that the fire is out. ;) One problem that lots of people have with candles is that 'tunnel' effect where the candles burn down the center and leave all the wax on the sides. The way to overcome this is to keep the wick trimmed to one quarter inch, burn the candle each time until the wax pool has melted all the way across before putting out. Candles have a burn memory of sorts. If you put them out before they melt all the way across, they will continue that way each time they are burned and this is what creates the tunnel effect. If you don't have time for it to melt the wax pool all the way across, it's best not to light it. Another really great thing is a wick dipper. It is a metal rod with a little hook on the end. To put the candle out, you push the wick down into the melted wax and use the hook to pull it upright after dipping. This keeps the wick from continuing to smolder and eliminates that 'burnt waxy' smell when you blow them out. TMI, I know. :D |
Have you tried Mia Bella Candles? My favorite one is Coconut Mango but they also have some great bakery, fresh and floral scents. They have the simmer pot things and melts like Scentsy if you prefer not to have the flame. Mia Bella Candles |

I am one sided when it comes to candles, because I make soy scented candles. 100% soy, soot free, pure fragrance and cotton wicks. I have been making them for 5 years now. I sell to friends, family, doctors offices and others that have been referred. I am getting ready to sell them here on YT! I just finished a cucumber-melon batch. Of course I have to burn one to make sure they are up to my standards and it smells wonderful. The bad thing about paraffin candles, yankee candles and others, they burn black soot which gathers on walls, pictures, etc. The soy candles burn soot free. The candles last longer, burn all the way down and the scent throw is stronger. If you notice, almost all paraffin candles burn down the middle, leaving excess wax. I will be doing a "Give Away" very soon, so be on the lookout! Simplylites Soy Candles...yummy! :D |
There is a lady here in my home town that owns a store and makes all of hers by hand. They are the best smelling candles I have ever found and they last FOREVER! And they are super cheap compared to BBW and Yankee. They smell up my whole house for months before I ever open and light them. I love her Creme Brulee and Pink Sugar ones. They smell like something to eat! (Plus she is super nice and has a cute little doggie that she brings to work with her.) I will likely never buy a candle from anywhere else again. She had a booth at the Chrismas parade and now people honestly line up down the sidewalk on weekends to get into her store! AlotA Scents |
