Some folks can go completely overboard to the point of absurdity on many things. It is just their a part of their nature. I am certain that these women have other issues in their life as well.

To some it is simply a doll whose look of reality impresses. I am one of those. It takes a lot of vision, talent and work to produce something that looks so lifelike. It is a shame that more recognition couldn't go towards that aspect. These women are artists.

I see many realisitic looking Yorkies that take artistic vision and talent to create. There are probably some goofballs out there that buy all sorts of things that go with those too. This is the same creativity on display, just a different arena. I am a floral designer and nothing gives me more pleasure than to have someone think one of my creations is 'real' and 'alive', although I don't think anyone would break a car window over one of them. :D

Artistry is wonderful. Life would be very boring without it. Weirdos, I could do without. :p

I do agree that the dolls look lifelike and they really are a true artform and really must take alot to create something that true to life with all the details that go into it.

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with buying things for these dolls... I just don't understand how someone can treat these dolls the same as real life babies and that is why they buy all the things for them. The link I posted comments on the man whose wife spend £1000 on clothes for her doll and she takes it everywhere and treats it like an actual baby. :confused:

Yes. Valid point. She would be in this group:

Some folks can go completely overboard to the point of absurdity on many things. It is just their a part of their nature. I am certain that these women have other issues in their life as well.

Sometimes folks lose their sense of reality and that is a problem. She should probably receive treatment for "I think it's a real baby" disorder. :D At least she didn't go steal someone else's real baby and that is a reason to be thankful, eh?

Oh but a really well madse one looks so so lifelike.. not creepy at all.. The only ones I thought were creepy is when I see someone at a teddy bear show pushing a doll in a stroller.

I think it would have been unconscionable for that officer to have not broken into that car. He did the right thing and should not have been embarrassed that he rescued a doll. Who would have thought something that realistic looking wasn't a human being? Bet they'll hide those babies from here on out! Oh yeah...I want one too, but I'll be in a nursing home when I start toting a doll around! Shoot, for 1K I could get another furbaby!

I agree wholeheartedly. I am wanting one. I want a lot. I don't always get what I want. :eek: Hard to believe, huh?

But I would much rather have another Yorkie. (!!!!!!!) :D

I think if something makes you happy and you're not hurting anyone..... do whatever you want... and if that means catering to your doll... so be it!!

(I am taking my dolls to the "home" also... or the "nut house" :wink:)

I completely agree with many of the comments about these dolls being a work of art. For someone to have that tallent to create something that is so detailed is beyond me. I'd be lucky to draw a decent looking stick figure! Personally I'm artistically challenged!!!! :yelrotflm
It makes me sad though, to hear that some people would go to the extent of buying diapers for a doll.(I think I saw that on a clip) It's a doll! I guess I just don't understand why some people go that far.

:D Come on...let us not judge too harshly here...the same could be said for about people who "dress" their dogs! Like ME:D....some people think THAT is going to far...I am not hurting anyone - - and I really think that it is none of anyone else's business!:rolleyes:

I saw a clip about two elderly women that were oohing and aahing like it was real. That's a bit over the edge for me too.

I think its probably an extention of realistic child play. When i was like 4 or 5 I would buy baby doll diapers for my babydoll and I loved changing them. I liked pretending it was a real baby. I had a little carriage for her that i would push around when we would leave the house, and I even had fake milk bottles that made it look like she was drinking--not to mention all the clothes & shoes i made my mom buy for my "baby." I guess this is just the adult version of that
