I am not sure how to go about saying this, but here it goes. I do not wish to offend anyone but I am going on my opinion. Personally at first I believed in a secondary poll but then later decided that we should just stick with whatever gets chosen. Alexandria, Virginia won, and the east coast cities were selected more than west coast city options. I believe if San Diego would have been chosen none of this would have happened. I do believe it is a bit of conflict of interest. Also, the $20 fee is quite a bit too much in these rough financial times, but even then some people may feel a little apprehensive about voting because it seems to us that regardless the committee will ultimately make the final decision, therefore what is the point of our vote. Another concern of mine is the ability to manipulate votes. In order for it to work out there would need to a be a post that listed all the names of the people that voted and what they voted for. The list should be updated every day. Once again I doard not mean to offend anyone as I understand that the committee is working very to make things happen and I know they would do a good job. Hopefully we could get a final decision going soon. I know that I will be going for sure because I have already set aside the money I would need. I just hope the committee could read and address our concerns. I do not mean to burden and on the contrary I would like to help out by giving ideas for the meet-up. I hope that order comes soon. |

I agree with you, that if SD had won this wouldn't be happening. When the East Coast people were complaining about it being on the West Coast, they were basically told to suck it up and in '10 it would be on our coast, but when the East Coast ended up winning, suddenly they want to do a revote? Sorry, it sounds like it's a little biased to me. I'm not trying to pick on the committe, but if they really want to do what's fair, they will honor the votes that the YT members made. |

I would really like to see this happen..I mean, by us "fighting" over this is only discouraging the committee to even go on with it. I have my heart on going wherever it is. {Sure would be nice to be in VA-nice and close} but I'm all for going to a new place and having a great time with my fellow YTers!:) |
All I can say is that I would hate to be on the committee right now. :( |
I would like to believe that the committee will do the right thing. They put the vote before the YT public and YTers made a choice - they should honor that vote knowing that the 2010 MeetUp will be on the west coast. I have yet to see any evidence that the vote was invalid. The only problem with the vote is that Alexandria was selected over San Diego. |
I just want to say what a bummer this is. I went to the KC meet up and had a blast. I will admit that my mind is going but I don't remember that we had a vote on where the KC meet up was going to be. If I remember correctly, it was chosen by the committee (Now I will admit I have been wrong once or twice in my life so I could be wrong on this). Having said that, it was put to a vote this year and Alexandria won. Why does there need to be a revote. If the committee wanted it to be in San Diego they should have just said....this is where it is going to be and then YTers would have decided yes or no about going. With all of this bickering going on it is putting a real damper on the whole thing. |
