This is very true. Many DIE HARD YT'ers drove for HOURS & even DAYS, flew across the country, rented RV's, carpooled, and were VERY determined to make it to the meetup. Many would probably do the same (if health and finances allow). I cannot say I am 100 percent sure I could go...... but more than likely we will. ...... We made the effort and spent the $$$ to go to KC and it was worth it. Unfortunately there were some who weren't able to make it ..... it wouldn't be right to have a lot to say about the meetup plans and then not sign up at all.

.... My husband said that California may be too far for us to go .... I guess we will wait and see...

That is why I mentioned a small $10 fee to participate in the selection process once a list of possible locations has been determined. This would help weed out a lot of people who don't really plan to attend anyway and help defer unexpected costs. I mean, most of us are willing to blow that much on an impulse purchase, why not put it to work for the greater good of helping a lot of people. I also think that the selection process should be made by donating members - those members that have made a commitment to YT.

If it were just all about ME, I would like to rent a resort that also has cabins and camping. It would be so awesome to sit around a campfire with our babies and talk and laugh and sing "campfire songs". To relax and let loose, not wear makeup or bother about "looking pretty" just to be ME. I know a lot of people would think I have lost my marbles, but if the meetup was just about me that is what I would prefer. There are places I would rather NOT go, but I won't refuse or be mad if one of those locations are chosen. Anyway I guess I've said enough

personally I LOVE the idea of something semi- camping. I don't liek to "camp" per say but the cabin (assuming they are relatively nice) would be so relaxing and i'm a sucker for a bon fire... but i also love a nice hotel

i guess this is an ok idea but i know i won't be paying because a year away is a long time to say for sure YES i am going.. but hell.. everything is far from Ontario.. so i guess it just doens't matter

Chicago would be really fun and you always have the option of the lake front also. An East Coastish destination such as West Virginia might also be nice, just not a city I'm familiar with. I also think Nashville would be a great location.

But, for me - ultimately it doesn't matter where the next one is as I plan to be there regardless!!!!!!!!!!

ooo San Diego sounds great!!! I've always wanted to go there!

Just my two cents...look at all the YTers who said they were coming to this meetup and didn't (wasn't it like over 200 people jumped on the band wagon and we ended up with 40). We were so worried that Lisa would be getting stuck paying the hotel fees and thank goodness that the Holiday Inn was so gracious to work with her and no monies came out of her pocket to pay for those not going).

I, too, understand that things happen and the economy is sucking right now and Lord knows what could happen in a year but perhaps once a location is determined then you take registration deposits and see who for sure is going and then you decide on your hotel.

I still like the Nashville/Tenn area though as well as San Diego!!! Two places I have never been to but would like to.

EXCELLENT POST.. ...you are right,,, the band wagon was very large at first.. I agree with you on Nashville. I was there once when I was 14 years old... don't remember anything about it.

did anyone room with someone they never met before how did that work out i would be coming alone i think band and no kids i need a break from them so for me it depends on my husbands work he travels a lot for his job

I soooo wish I could have gone to this one. I really wanted to. And had originally said I would go. But finances just didn't allow. Unfortunately I've got a lot going on in that area right now, so it just wasn't possible this year. I'm hoping to be able to go next year. But I think the only way it will be possible for me is if it is in driving distance.

One that has Cabins for those that don't like to Tent camp and also

electric for the ones who need it.

I think that would make it FUN and more affordable for more people.

I think the cost is what held many from attending the KC one.

How about the Atlanta area? They're very dog friendly and I know some of the parks have a small dog area. Somewhere outside of Atlanta (i.e. Marietta, Kennesaw, etc.) might not be too expensive.

Well i would have to say my vote goes for San Diego...Not because i
live in Cali. but because i know that SD has beautiful weather and that
they are and were voted as one of the most dog friendly places...Plus
theres tones to see, do and shop...And no i dont think it is that exp.

Nashville has all the pluses we are looking for
1. it has a Drury Inn
2. Major Airport (which is less than 2 mile for the Drury Inn)
3. very Pet -friendly (from what i have been told)
4. Lots of places that would be big enough for every to meet up and have
room for the furbabies

Prices in Nashville are pretty competitive with other places being mentioned
