| Not sure about the dog-friendly part, but I've always heard Austin is the very "hip" (yes...I just used that word ) city in Texas. I think there are a lot of "arts" and overall just a really neat city....but maybe this is just my imagination ??? LOL

Though we're in Cali, we'd be willing to travel a bit..... NY or Chicago isnt an option for us (safety), but Las Vegas, Denver, Texas seem more do-able. I guess it really doesnt matter, as long as its safe and centrally located

| Chicago, its a fun city! Nashville is a very freindly state with lots to do too. I've been to Texas, I but it was a long time ago, but wonderful too. But I'll go anywhere, cause I'm going next year no matter what, and I dont think its too early at all to start the planning. What about doing 3 places then doing a poll on it and see where it takes us. Keep track and see where would be the best outcome. Last edited by DENISE517; 06-27-2008 at 11:02 AM. |

I agree after a little debate we should put 3-5 on a poll and say "only vote if you are SERIOUSLY considering going" and then see where we end up!

| Austin or San Antonio would be good also, and not quite as humid as Houston. I don't know much about the airports there. I know that Houston has a major airport (Bush) which I think is a hub for Continental Airlines. The other airport, Hobby, is a hub for Southwest Airlines.

| I vote for Texas or Florida. Both are very drivable for me and we are definitely coming to the next one. I already started a Yorkie Bank for it! Hopefully by then I'll have gotten Jamie a little sister.

| I definately vote for FL. While I love Des' idea of LV, (it's one of my favorite places on earth...been 2 times and am definately goingback soon) it is rather expensive, and off hand, I don't know of places that allow pets. I'm in Tampa and there are a ton of places that allow you to bring your dogs. There are also dog beaches here (3 that I know of) and a ton of dog parks. There's also great dog boutiques and great resturants that have plenty of outdoor (covered) seating. Also, if you were thinking about the Miami area, there are a lot of dog stores, hotels that allow pets, dog parks...don't know of a beach though. But there are already a lot of members in this area....we're even having a Tampa meet-up in a few weeks. and the one we had in Orlando had quite a large turnout.

| No offense to you southerners, but I don't do massive heat and humidity very well. I think we need to factor in weather for the time of the year that we are going. Of the top 10 dog friendly cities for 2005, San Fransisco ranked #4 and Seattle #5, followed by Salt Lake City #6. If I go, I will be driving so something closer to the West coast would interest me.

| Since most folks here live either on the east coast or west coast it's only fair to have it in the middle somewhere. I definately will never go to Vegas again, and I won't be making such a long trip to the east coast, as I'm sure the folks there wouldn't want to come all the way to CA. How about Souix Falls, SD.? It's so nice there. |

| OK, Here is my 2 cents. I think where you are going to have the convention should have some baring on where you have it. I went to a convention in LV the Mon-Fri before this one. It was 107 degrees. Way to hot for me, never mind the puppies. Same goes for Florida and Texas. If you make it more of a spring or fall then they would be ok. The same goes for having it in the North. If its in the late spring, summer or early fall, then great. Either way, the location needs to have easy access to the airport and dog friendly places. Flights can get us anywhere. We could alway do both, a spring one and a fall one, one on the East, one one the West. Last edited by Katys mom; 06-27-2008 at 11:32 AM. |
