I vote for Florida or Texas. I've been to Vegas and loved it but don't think they were dog friendly. I think Florida is dog friendly.:D Of course, the heat is probably going to be a factor for some but when I used to live in Virginia and vacationed in South Beach in July, the heat/humidity was about the same. If Florida is a consideration, summer is our off-season when room rates and flights tend to be lower, winter is our peak season but the weather is fabulous. :D |
Hmm.. Chicago sounds pretty good to me at this point! I've never been and its sorta halfway btwn where I live now and where I hope to move. I agree with the paying $10 to vote on the location. Like someone else said, even if I end up not being able to go I wouldn't mind donating the $10 |
how many people have kids in school if its in the school year a lot of people kids cant go i like june july august did a lot of people go that had school age kids or was it mostly people with adult children or no children |
mabe the the next meet up could be in the same town as a gucci store so we can shop j/k im sure it will be fun in any city |

I am going to throw in my two cents worth too and vote for somewhere in California. And I will agree with Jodie in that there were so so many that were within reasonable range of Kansas City who didn't attend, yet there were many many members from California that flew (and drove) all the way to Kansas to attend. I don't think it would be fair for them to have to fly to the midwest again in another year. Isn't that why it was in the midwest first, then decided long ago that it would be one of the coasts next? We spent better than 6 grand to make this trip and I know we couldn't even consider making the trip to the midwest again. I would attend one in California... and in another year, maybe then I coulod attend one on the other coast. anyway.. just my two cents |
I do think the original plan was to have one in the middle, then the next year one on one coast, then the next year have it on the opposite coast. California sounds good to me! I've never been and if I'm living in Boise by then, I might could even drive. My bf used to live in San Diego, so if we are still together, maybe I could convince him to come too. |
I havent seen this mentioned in Texas but what about San Antonio -- I am not sure about how many "dog" parks there are but I know the Riverwalk is dog friendly - lots of shopping and historical sites. But hotel wise -- how about starting with a hotel that is dog friendly and checking -- suggestion - Drury Hotels Official Website - Locations & Reservations This hotel allows dogs to stay free and very dog friendly. Sam has always been allowed to go every where in the hotel. |
i agree it should be coast to coast so mabe la or san diego and next year new york and then mabe the south hat sounds fare |
6 grand to make the trip this year?!?!?!? Uh, well if it's near that on an average count us out. I have 3 kids in school still and that's just not do-able for a family of 5 living on 1 paycheck for Mom to take the furbutts out for a weekend. Sorry :( |
I'll have to say Texas or California. Preferably TX---3 hours is long enough for my Daisy on a plane. NYC is wonderful and lots of dog friendly neighborhoods...the cost is def more than elsewhere as far as transportation (taxis), dining, pet couture, treats, hotel stay...etc.. It's honestly never ending. I'm sure that'll affect a lot of people's decisions on attending or not. |

Ooooo I just thought of another one....since this was an International YT meetup...what about Canada...like Vancouver or something like that??? |
Just throwing out a couple of ideas. I wonder if YT could partner up with a local Yorkie meet-up in a certain city to help plan an event OR Partner with a Yorkie rescue and it could be a fun event and maybe help to raise money as well! Another idea is to plan something on a weekend in a city that might already have an annual pet event going on. Like a pet fest, etc... That way there would be another activity to be able to attend and the planning is already in place! I'm with Jodie, I'm not a camper! :p |

If this expo is an annual event this could be something to do next year if the YT meetup is in Orlando. Since there will be adoptable and entertainment animals there, no pets are allowed.:( Pet friendly hotels in Orlando in all price ranges. BringFido.com - Pet Friendly Hotels in Orlando, Florida |
