Holy cats! You and I must be related....

Don't know how long DUG has been with you, but every evening I'd make out a list of things for him to do. First thing would be to go out for a few hours every morning and job hunt. The afternoon would be spent doing the jobs you have listed around the house. I also would give him a set time to be out.....job or no job.

DUG signed a contract with us stating that he has to be out NO LATER than September 1st. I just don't think I'm going to make it that long.

It also stated that while he living here with no job that he is considered hired help and is to work around here in order to pay for room and board.

So technically he is in violation of said contract. Therefore I don't have to feel guilty about asking him to leave.

He is just so ungrateful and acts like its our responsibility to take care of him. I can also honestly tell you that he isn't a bit worried about being thrown out because he doesn't believe DH will do it.

In other words, he is taking advantage of the only people left who are kind and stupid enough to try and help him out once again.

You go girl!:D Maybe kicking him out is really what he needs...a good ol lesson in REALITY! I'm kind of doubting it but maybe once he has no where to go, he'll realize just how good your family has been to him.

I'd have a come to Jesus talk with him. Tell him that you know he has nowhere to go but that you have a deal. You are glad you can help him, but you can only continue to do so in as much as he keeps up his end of the bargain. Anything less is just him taking advantage. If he doesn't like it, he can leave.

Case closed.

That's probably the only rule he is seriously afraid to break. He has to smoke outside, and he has to have a can or something to dispose of his ashes and cig butt in. Lord be with him should one of my babies get hold of one of those nasty things and he knows it.
He also doesn't wear shoes in the house because if the furkids. Can you imagine if he stepped on one of them with his size 14 boats?

Even DUG knows not to cross me when it comes to my babies.

I am feeling better this morning so far. I've decided not to be as considerate as I've been being. I've been up since 6am and I've swept and mopped the kitchen and vacuumed the living room (he sleeps on the couch in there). I think I'm also going to clean the carpet in there, dust, and clean the bird cage. I have a whole list of things to get done and a list for DUG as well. The only one who will be napping today will be ME!

I would like to add here that I am normally not a mean a person. This is about the SIXTH time he has lived with us in 8 years and I've just had enough of it. Its always the same. Everything is everyones fault but his, poor pitiful him, can't catch a break yadda yadda. I've had about all of it I can take.

Perfect! If I was closer I would join in scrubbing everything from top to bottom and bring my vac as well.

Can't catch a break? Please, the kind of break he's after is exactly what he's been getting at your house.

I really hate the victim mentality ~~~~ being on the street is probably the only thing that will get him straightened out.

Tell DH it's time for DUG to get some tough love.

Lay down the law.

Stuff ain't free, and you can let him know it. Hand him a broom and tell him what things you need done.

You must be assertive. If you aren't, clearly he'll walk all over for you.

I agree that tough love is in order. He needs a daily TO DO list and if he fails to finish it he can expect to get his own meals. You said he signed a contract that he'll be out by 9/1...I don't want to stress you out any more than you already are, but if he isn't keeping up his end of any of the other things in the contract, he's not going to be keeping that promise either. You need to kick his butt out. Of course he isn't working, why should he? He's got free room and board with you! Maybe a scare of really being homeless will get him motivated. And he's better off being homeless in the summer than in the winter!
