Thanks for this thread, I read it and started to simplify my life a little bit. It just reminded me how much "stuff" I moved here 4 years ago and have not seen or used. I had hubby bring up some tubs from the basement and I've been filling them for him to take to work (he works and a mission with a clothing/household pantry) and piles of household goods for the womens shelter a block away. I know that here in Michigan the need for clothing and household goods, as well as food, is great. I'm sure the situation is the same in many parts of the country, greater now in the area's of disaster. Giving a little bit of our "stuff" can make a difference to those with great need.

OMG! I have to laugh!

Since we're redoing our kitchen, I've had to clean out drawers. In one drawer, I found like 25 pairs of chop-sticks. :confused: Ummm...we don't eat much Chinese food so I have no idea where they all came from.

In another drawer, I found rolls and rolls of tape. :confused: Again, we don't have a gift wrapping shop out of our home so why so much tape?

In the last drawer (that we had excess stuff of), there were like 50 packs of parmesan cheese and crushed red pepper (you know, the kind that you get with take out pizza), about 20 packs of FIRE Taco Bell sauce (YUM), buttery garlic dipping packs and pizza sauce packs. :confused: I guess it's all edible if we need to get ready for a hurricane. :rolleyes:

If you looked in our pantry, we have too many can goods and condiments! We are bad at going to the store and wondering if we are out of something and just buying more to be on the safe side! We have four jars of peanut butter right now!

hair things...... headbands, clips, claw thingy's, hairspray, mousse, conditioning serums. I never use any of it... but its always there 'just incase'.......... most of it goes untouched too and I end up giving it away to other people.... i am a hair-product-junkie. And its weird... like I'll be in the salon or drugstore, and i'll see something and its like, "oh wow that looks interesting" or "oh thats nice, i could do my hair like that"......... never remembering that I already have something similar :rolleyes:

* Receipts & Manuals (for things i probably don't even have any more! :rolleyes:)
* take-out menus & pizza place coupons, etc. (i do LOVE pizza, but i'm so sure.. :rolleyes:)

* Scrap Book, Card, Stamp, stuff.. (i never even use it.. but i guess i do have ALL the intentions in the world, right :rolleyes:)
* jewelry that i NEVER wear (fashion-type jewelry, etc.)
* hair products, travel size products, bobby pins, hair rubberbands(i can never have too many of these though! ;)) random hair accessories that i never have and probably never will wear!! etc etc etc. (but i guess i have an excuse, since i am in the hair industry, right? :rolleyes: we can pretend i have an excuse! ;))
* random Make-up... eyeshadows, unused make-up sponges, eyeliner pencils, etc. etc. etc.
* TACO BELL SAUCES! Del Taco Sauces, etc. hahahaha. (i cracked up when i read that! ..SO our house!!) :D
* USB cords (for the digi camera, etc.) I swear we have so many.. but can also never find them when i need to use it! haha. :p

The other day I was bored so I decided to clean out the storage room and I found 25 rolls of wrapping paper!! All occasions styles and types. I guess every time we just go buy thinking that we don't have any.

In my house we have over 40 C and D batteries and the 9 volts yet we can never find any double or triple A batteries.

Maybe this a floridian thing but we have 7 battery powered tv's lol.

We have over 60 cans of beef-a-roni that they were giving away during hurricane Wilma. No one in my house even likes it LOL. We just got them because they were free.

I have never actually bought a cream for myself yet I have over 20 different creams. Why do people love giving creams for birthday and Christmas gifts?????

There are plenty more but thats all I can think of...

Oh one more we have 10 computers in the house yet only 4 people????

I have too much of everything! I am a self proclaimed pack rat and REALLY would like to simplify my life and rid myself of the clutter but I feel sentimental about too many things! Clothes, shoes, photographs, books, cards, my toys from when I was a child, my children's items....the list continues and so to does my Hell.....

We moved into our home three years ago and I have boxes in the garage, never unpacked, so it's evidently things I don't need but I can't bring myself to go through them and get rid of things. In the meantime, I have accumulated more stuff....

I also have too many projects I started and never finished...scrapbooking, crocheting, cross-stiching, puzzles, paintings....the list continues, but I hold on to the materials. Why?

I also have a problem with accumulating mail. It takes over my kitchen counter. I have no idea how...? I really need a better system and possibly a Shrink!

I have the same problem with comforters, every time I decide to replace one, I just don't throw the old one away, I always keep it for the kid's sleep overs...but we don't have sleepovers anymore, and I still keep the comforters.Thank God for the space saver bags!

OMG, comforters and blankets! YES, thats one I forgot about! I just can't throw them out! You never know when you may need 20 blankets and comforters. I could lose power or something!! I need help!
