YIKES! Found Brown Recluse in my room last night I had just finished watching a few dvds of 24 :) and Lola and I were about to go into my bedroom and there it was... on the floor. The size of a dollar piece and it had six legs. I killed it and there is no way I would sleep in my room after that. WHAT SHOULD I DO? bug bomb my room? If you don't know what damage a brown recluse can do... google it. |
I googled it , I am so AFRAID of spiders its not funny! I would bomb or something. In my freakish mind I would be convinced that it laid eggs and that there would be 100's crawling around while I slept. Or worse yet, I would swear they were crawling on me during the night!!!!:thumbdown |
yikes!!!!!!!!!!!! i dont think you have to bomb your room yet.. it was just probably one thats all... the heat , humidity, bugs comes out.. |
now that you killed what ever that was, i hope 10 more dont come out for the funeral... only kidding :) |

oh my gosh I know how you feel! But you're braver than me. Last summer I was talking to some online friends that I have. It was like 3 in the morning and I looked over at my wall and I saw this creepy brown spider. I googled "creepy brown spiders" and came across the Brown Recluse. I don't know anything about them or where they live, but it sure looked like the one on my wall! I was so freaked out I couldn't even kill it. I packed up my laptop and went downstairs and slept in the bathroom! The next day I sent my brother upstairs and he said he couldn't find it and it was probably dead. A week later I was talking to my friends again and I looked over at my lamp and THERE IT WAS hanging from my lamp. I got hairspray and killed it with that. :p I don't think you need to bug bomb your room, but do keep your eyes open. Eek! |

OMG...............I didn't see the picture but that would be enough for me to certainly bomb! I am a huge wimp when it comes to spiders. |
I've taken care of people who got bitten by a brown recluse and I can tell you it's HORRIBLE! If it were in my house, I'd not only bug bomb the entire house, I'd have a pest control guy out there PRONTO....can you even IMAGINE what it would do to a little dog????? I saw one scorpion and I was on the phone to my landlords....and my feeling is (and I'm usually right:)), is if there's one, it's got family and friends.....I've now killed 4 scorpions of varying size IN the house....just before the pest control guy came. |

Gina, that is just plain mean! LOL Wow, I would be scared too. Have you ever seen pictures of the bite sites on people? My father's best friend got bitten years ago and lost a chunk of flesh and muscle. |
Are you sure it was a brown recluse? They usually stay in inactive dark areas. |
OMG if I saw a brown recluse I would not be able to sleep!!! I've gotten th email showing the thumb pic of a guy who was bitten and his thumb basically detiorated!! So scary...get an exterminator ASAP and also just be careful...like don't grab things out of dark places, watch what you pick up and where you step, and definately check your shoes before you put them on!!! That seems like an ideal hiding spot. |
I had one on my patio and I killed it. I didnt know then how bad their bites are. I agree its time to call the bug guy out. |

I don't think recluses have 6 legs... they have 8 legs. Right? I just tried to look up 6 legged spiders but didnt find much. |
Ugh! I feel for you! I HATE spiders! The house I rented before the one I live in now was filled with the things! Brown recluse are very common here:( If it was me, I'd bug bomb. |

LOL sorry to laugh but that was funny. Your one brave lady I tell ya. Did it crunch under whatever you hit it with? That's why I hate killing bugs. I scream so I don't hear it. I never heard of them but they sure sound dangerous. Be carefull. |

1 Attachment(s) I would most definitely bomb the whole place. They could be anywhere in your home. Barring that, I would hire someone to guard me at night armed with an Uzi and night vision apparatus. I am seriously terrified of spiders. A true arachnaphobic. You probably couldn't tell that from my statements above. :D Did it look like this: |

Aren't these the ones that have a violin on their back? From Sammiz's picture, this looks like what they are talking about....violin shape dark on back. Yuck...these creep me out too. |
Recluse spiders aren't anything to sneeze at. One bit my supervisor several different places on her leg. The largest bite ended up being the size of a grapefruit--dead down to the bone. Turned black and smelled like dead mice. The meds made her skin peel from the tip of her head to her toes. She would stand and skin would be falling to the floor around her. Couldn't wear slacks for an entire year. After many surgeries to cut away what had died, she is left with a huge hole. My parents live in the south where recluse spiders are an every day thing. Professional spraying is done every year. Guess that is what I recommend. Spiders hide in every nook and cranny. Professionals also are able to use sprays that aren't dangerous. We have bug exterminators come through the school every so often spraying while the children are in the school. Just a thought. |
yikes that must be so scarry Shannon . .we do have quite a bit of spiders but all teeny tiny - I still hate them though :mad: but a dollar size  I don't think I can be brave enough to even kill it  |
oh yea, you should see out where I live in the desert in California... brown recluses, scorpions, tarantulas!! centipedes..... oh yea, and very deadly mojave green rattle snakes.. I hate this time of year.. I killed a scorpion in my bed once!! |
OMG! I would bomb my room like 10 times if I ever found a brown recluse in it!! |
