Has anyone been on a Disney cruise?
 

Has anyone been on a Disney Cruise Line cruise? What did you think? :)

No but did look into it and was told by several people that Carnival and Royal Carribbean both tend to have better programs....however, if you are major Disney fans then I would go with them.

A friend and I took a cruise with Royal and saw a few kids here and there, usually the same ones until the very last night at one of the shows they brought all the kids in to perform for us...good lord there were a whole bunch of them!!! They keep them busy!

:thumbup::thumbup:We are huge disney fans! We haved done a number of disney cruises. As a mom it is a great way to travel: No cooking, cleaning, or laundry for 7 days.

We have four children 14,13,10 & 8. My children love the 'kids clubs' and spend a lot of time in them. There is lots of things for the adults to do... seperate from the kids. On port days the children are allowed to stay on the ship. We usually take the kids on shore in the am. Then my DH and I will go back on shore alone in the afternoon. This way we ALL get to do what we want!

Our favorite part of all is Castaway Cay. We love to be on the beach all day!

** A Disney Cruise is not for every one. We took some friend's with us, that did not have a have a good time. They are not disney fans. Plus, one member is a total control freak.... having no control over anything... droved this person crazy!!!!

I've never been, but i know several people who have and they all loved it!

My uncle went along with his wife's family a couple of years ago. He is NOT a big Disney fan, but was very impressed with the cruise. He spoke so highly of the whole thing that my sister and I are thinking about taking my nieces.

unless you are brining kids or love to be around kids on your holidays.. lol.. i would avoid Disney. I think it is great for families tho! Also would avoid Carnival.. we went on two Carnival cruises and wouldn't go on them again... way too many kids :p can you tell we like quiet on our vacations :p my parents are going on a Hawaiian cruise this November with Princess Cruises. or maybe Celebrity... lol... id on't know... one of those!

While we don't have kids, I don't mind being around kids so that wouldn't be a problem. Also I've heard from a lot of people that the Disney cruise offers a lot for adults and has several adult-only areas (including a pool on board and beach at Castaway Cay).

The only thing that concerns me is the dining situation. I think it would be awkward to eat with strangers! :eek:

For those who have been on a Disney cruise, what is and isn't included (as far as food, drinks, activities, etc.)?

I love Florida! :) We go there a few times a year. The only thing that worries me is if I lived there it would take the fun out of visiting there! I'd like to live there for a few years at some point though.

I have been on 3 cruises and we always had a blast with our dinner partners. Because you see them everynight you have a chance to catch up and see what they did that day. Its like suddenly you have new friends on the ship...and you have something in common.
Once when we were much younger and partied a lil more, we were partnered with a christian radio producer and his wife and son. it was the sons graduation. my SIL had waaaay too much to drink and ran into these really staight laced people on the deck after dinner.. who KNOWs what she said to them but they were really cool the next night!;)

If I was going with out children I would diffenetly ask for late seating. Less kids. DCL also try to group people with families and people without. You can always ask to be moved, if you don't like your dinner companions.;) Or even ask up front about dining alone.

All you food and soft drink are included. The only place you have to pay an addition fee for food is in Palo's, the adult only restruant. They have a special brunch, high tea and dinner. I believe is is only $15 a person plus a tip.

You will also pay a fee for alcoholic drinks, shore excursions, pictures. Don't forget at the end of the trip; you tip you dining room servers & your room attendant.

So for a three night cruise I'm guessing that there are the three standard restaurants, correct? Do you get to chose if and when you would like to go to Palo's?

Also what you say is the range of prices for shore excursions?

I just thought of another thing that is a seperately priced item... THE SPA! We have done the couples massage and loved it! For a splurge, on our 10 year anniversary we did the Vista Spa Villas Treatments. It was really great!!

When you check in, your "key to the world card" tells you the dining rotation and your table number. On the three night cruise you will dine in all three restraunants.Your servers will move with you every night. If you want to dine at Palos you will need to make a reservation before the cruise. I think it's 60 days before. You will need to be on line as soon as the reservation... for that cruise are released...they go really fast!

We have only done a few DCL shore excurions. We usually just get off the ship and do our own thing. I would say on average it cost about $50-$100 a person. It can cost more. In most ports you can walk right off the ship and find what you need: shopping, dining, cabs, or water taxi's. It is really quite easy. Trust me, if I can do it anyone can!;)

**This is just my two cents. Start out with the 4 night cruise. The three night is just to short. You will be surprise at how fast the time goes. We have done a couple of their special 12 night cruises and have never been bored! Don't forget to rebook while on the ship to get the discount for your next cruise. Since you don't have kids book in the off season for the best deals and less people on the ship. We love to go in the begining of May, before the weather gets to hot. We also love to travel right after thanksgiving... when the ship is decorated for Christmas!
