My firstborn was a really picky eater. By the time he was three there were only three things he would eat. Baby cereal, peanut butter & jelly sadwiches and milk. That was it. I finally had my fill of his refusing to eat and fixed him scrambled eggs one morning telling him "thats it till lunch." He went hungry till lunch at which time I fixed him scrambled eggs again. He still refused to eat. By dinner time he was so hungry he pushed a chair close to the stove so he could watch the potatoes boil. That night he ate a slice of ham, boiled potatoes and corn. It was still a struggle after that but he never again flat out refused to eat anything without trying it first. I know this isn't the same problem but I think if you let your daughter have a taste of my kind of medicine she would find out what a pleasure it is to feed herself and how rotten it feels to be hungry. The hard part is being the mother and feeling guilty for not feeding your child. I thought I would die before dinner finally came. Good luck. You can do it! |
