Pls rethink your last statement! Yes, it could happen anywhere But:
I am glad you had a wonderful time there. Aruba is beautiful, but I don't see how anyone could imagine how Aruba is safer than the US. You should read the book Natalie's mother wrote "Loving Natalie". Justice did not happen, nor did the authorities do their job @the time it happened or later. I cannot imagine this happening to my daughter & being treated by the authorities in Aruba the way she was. Sorry, I'm glad you had a great time, but it would be nightmarish to need the help of authorities if something had happened. If you search on Aruba, you will read many reviews from people who use to live there years ago and how it's changed because of law enforcement or lack of. God Bless Natalie's Mother!

Is it really necessary to scrutinize someone for where they chose to vacation?

Do you honestly think the exact same situations (at a much higher rate) don't happen here? Maybe we should move out of the US too.

LOL, thanks Kyle. I would never argue that the Natalie Holloway murder was anything less than tragic. I'm a mother of a daughter- it was awful! I'm sure if that poster compared crime statistics of Aruba to the US or other popular tourist destinations like Jamaica or Mexico, she would get my point but some people are just going to think however they want to think. The comment that I should do a search gave me a little chuckle though.:D

I can see this is a sensitive subject for you, YorkichonBella, but this is Nikki's vacation thread. Injustices to US residents happen everywhere, including right here in the US - where authorities don't do their job every day, in certain instances. Natalie's story, while horribly tragic, is not an isolated incident - remember Costa Rica? Bali? Portugal? Cruise ship tragedies?

Let's let Nikki enjoy her vacation thread - and if we want to debate governments and their injustices - let's open a whole new thread, please. :)

Wylie's Mom - I agree w/you. As I stated, it could happen anywhere. I read the thread & it wasn't about Aruba that I needed to respond. It wasn't my intention to upset her vacation thread, but when the statements about "the girl" (her name is Natalie) was posted, I could not hold back. Yes, it was a sensitive subject to me and many that know the details.
