What do they eat? My son brought home 2 of them from school and I dont know what to do with them!

Go to the pet store and buy them fiddler crab food. More important than the food...keep the sponge moist at all times. Without that water...they die pretty quickly.

I think you are thinking of a hermit crab? We had to have a wet sponge for that. These need water on half the tank and dry land on the other end.

Oh crud...yeah I was. Maybe fiddler crabs eat hermit crab food.

Btw, we participated in fiddler crab races. Won first place one time.

They are pretty fast arent they? Gavin brought his home, and I wanted to hold one. I picked it up and it darted right off of my hand!

Yeah the little ones are. This was at a campground. It's on the bay...so in the morning...you would go hunt down your competitor. We'd done this several times...so we knew...bigger was not better. Then they painted little dots of color on the shells. Had a big circle...place like 10 in the center...then do heats...until you had the grand champion. Like my daughters...well he was MINE (because she didn't want to participate)...until HE won. Then you know what happened.
