Anyone else get a letter? I received a letter in the mail about our stimulus payment. 1. They are not giving us $300 for my oldest daughter who is 17. It says she has to have a birthday after Dec 31st 1990. Her DOB is July 1990. I don't get it? We still support her and should be intitled to that $300 for her. We claimed her. 2. We should be getting $1200 for filing married jointly, but they are only giving us $669.00 ??? I'm so confused! Anyone else getting jipped and received a letter in the mail?? |
I don't understand that either. I hope someone can help you figure out what's going on- that sounds crazy! |

My hubby is at work and now I have to break this news to him when he gets home. |
I know my daughter and her boyfriend both got letters saying their payments would be only around $300 rather than the $600 they thought and it had something to do with the amount of their income versus deductions. My hubby and I thought we wouldn't be getting one at all because we owe, but ours was direct deposited (in full) on Friday, so off went the check in the mail to the IRS. Thank goodness we didn't owe much more than the stimulus check was for!!! Hope you get it worked out!!! |

We got the full $1500 we were expecting. The way I understood it, anyone who made over $3000 last year and filed their taxes would get $600 for singles, $1200 per married couple plus $300 per minor child. This really stinks that their are loop holes that nobody knew about.:thumbdown |
I got the letter today saying I would get the 1200 by 5/12. I haven't checked my account yet. My dtr is 22 and I don't think she will get anything even though she is in college and works PT as she made 14,000.00 and I claim her on my taxes. |
We were expecting a lot more too. Our money isn't going to be going as far as we had hoped. |
If you made over $150,000 as a couple, they will pro-rate it. (Not a problem I have:), but one of my friends got about the amount you describe because they exceed the $75,000 per limit. I don't get the kid thing, though I saw that if the kid was 18 you wouldn't get credit. That's just stupid. :confused:If the kid is in school, who do they think is taking care of them, Mother Goose? And anyone who is named as a dependent on someone else's return, can't file for their own refund. |
My husband and I filed jointly, but we are only getting 600. not the 1,200. Don't know why. I will take anything they want to give us.:) |
my older sister only had 600 direct deposited to her not the 900 since she has a 4 yr old? |

We got our payment, but our son was born 12/04 so we didn't get money for him. That really made me angry. He is a Jr in HS and we still have all of the expenses for him that we have for our 15 year old. I could see if they cut it off at 18 (even though next year he'll be a Sr at 18) but what were they thinking cutting it off at 17? It makes no sense what so ever. They didn't pay for any child that turned 17 before 12/31 (My friend's son turned 17 on 12/30 she was really annoyed!) |
There were a couple loopholes such as the 17 yr olds, Income over 75,000 single 150,000 couple. There was also one about if your tax lability was less then 600 you would receive a prorated amount so. At Internal Revenue Service there is a bunch of FAQ's that deal with alot of different questions. |
