Whoa! When did all this happen? I have not been on much in the past few months, but I logged on today and started looking around and noticed something 'different' on YT. I take the time today to pay attention and notice people have fancy profile pages and friend requests and additions (kind of like MySpace) and boy do I feel like I'm out of the loop! |
LOL! Yes, you have been gone too long! You were missed but now you need to do some catching up! |

The TRUTH about why I've been MIA Quote:
On the evening of March 8, my 7 yo daughter was attacked by a friend's dog. A lab, a dog she's been around for ages. The dog lunged at her and latched on to her face. She screamed and as we pryed her hands from her face, the sight was sickening! As we rushed her to the hospital, she started going into shock in my lap--shaking uncontrolably and not responding when we were talking to her. Once there, they sedated her, deadened the side of her face and I stood there helpless as they sewed up her face while she was panicked and talking out of her mind. For a few days afterwards at home, she didn't want to eat or talk to anyone. Those were the hardest days of my life! For now is healing as good as can be expected. At first she didn't seem bothered at all, now, I'm not so sure. We've noticed that she seems very unsure of larger dogs, to be expected I guess. She has a few small scars under her eye from teeth puncture wounds, but they are fading fast. She has a pretty significant scar across her cheek now that *hopefully* will heal over time, but...we've seen several plastic surgeons and they've told us that we need to realize correcting it within the year may be needed. Kids being kids she's had some mean comments at school. I sit everyday to pick her up praying that she won't come out in tears because of something someone has said to her. I will be so glad when school is out for the summer! So, add that to changes at work, a MIL w/ failing health thus creating and upset, stressed and worried hubby, a father who gave us a scare w/ some heart conditions, and trying to take care of odds and ends around the house that had been put off for way too long and I've definately had my hands full...too full to worry about--how to put this nicely--'inquiring minds.' THANKS to those of you who knew what was going on (few did) that have sent words of encouragement--it has been very appreciated! Hopefully things are getting back to normal now (lol...if there IS such a thing)! One thing is for sure, I am definately looking forward to our vacation in a few weeks. If I decide to stay there and never come back, I hope you all understand! :p |
WoW, Bama....you certainly had a lot on your plate. I'm so sorry about your daughter and hope she'll overcome her fear of dogs. I agree...kids can be mean. There was a girl who made my dd's life...miserable...and I don't hate kids, but I hated that one. Glad you're back...even if you are leaving soon for 'cation. Sounds like you need one. :) |
Well wishes to your family and you! Hope all gets better soon! |
Bama wow your poor little girl and you do have a lot going on. We missed you here on YT but boy you are so needed at home so come and post when you can.;) I was attacked by a big dog too when I was little...it will take time for your baby to heal. I still have a fear of larger dogs but not little dogs.. |

Misty, that is so awful for your little girl.......I hope her fears get better with time......can the doctor or pharmacist recommend a cream to help with the scar?...Sometimes when they are fresh the scar can be lessened...... Welcome back and I hope things get better in the coming days for you and all of your family..... |

Wow Misty...I'm sorry to hear about your daughter. My son was also attacked when he was close to her age by a neighbors cocker spaniel. He was actually with the adult neighbor and they were giving her treats when out of the blue she lunged at my son and had him by the neck before anybody knew what was happening. He had to be taken to the hospital and received 10 stitches. We were afraid he would be scared of dogs afterward, but he never seemed to be, though I must say he isn't a big fan of cocker spaniels  I hope that you have a nice relaxing vacation! I think that you and your family deserve it! |
Welcome back! sorry to hear about your daughter and hope she continues to do better and better with each day. May I ask: What happened to the dog? I would hate for your daughter to get a panic or anxiety attack whenever she sees it from now on....I'm sure you're doing all you can and need to for her. Best wishes & to you and your family! Glad you came back to check in tho also;) |
I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter Misty! Glad to see you back posting though. |
Thanks to everyone for the kind words. They are very comforting. :( I'd been meaning to answer some PMs and update some people earlier, but just never had the time. The surgeon who will be seeing her for a while recommended Mederma several times a day. (And let me tell you...that stuff is EXPENSIVE! $25 for a little bitty tube that you have to use several times a day!) He said the most important thing we can do now is to make sure she has a little sun exposure as possible--none ideally. :( So she is NOT too happy about that! He said it could cause damage and leave it a dark purple that cannot be corrected. He is pretty optomistic that over time it will heal and she won't need surgery...so it's just a waiting game now I supppose. Right now it's just that fresh scar dark pink color. I think we're all just frustrated because it's to the point that there is no noticeable, day to day improvement. As for the dog, the owners still have it. Let me just take this time to say that the coordinated efforts of the county health dept and the hospital SUCK in this county and no one did what they were 'supposed' to do given the circumstances. I would go into the details about the whole situation as it currently stands, but really can't at this time. (For legal reasons.) There are alot of things in limbo right now. But in short, no, she never sees it and never will again. Nor do I, nor will my husband. |
welcome back, sorry you have had such a rough time. Hopefully things will only get better now. |
I am so sorry to hear about your daughter. How terrible. I don't know what drama was going on here but that is sad that that happened to you. I will keep yout daughter and family in my prayers. |
